I recently attended the Bad Religion concert on 10/24/10 and based on the the previous ratings people gave, I was quite apprehensive about going to see a show at Rams Head Live! But I had bought the tickets without doing any research and I was determined to make the best of it. Maybe my expectations were different as I was going to a punk show, but regardless of how I was dressed, the staff was largely pleasant and willing to answer my questions. At the time of purchase, my ticket described itself as "general admission", so I was not expecting seats, but there were some stadium style seating along the back wall (i think it was free) and a tiered balcony that they wanted additional $10 to be admitted to (I passed). I could see how the sight lines could be a problem, especially considering that there are a few poorly placed girders, but, depending on what time you get there and how tall you are it isnt a huge problem. Many people were taking pictures with their cell phones and I didnt see anybody being hassled. I also cant speak to the food/drink situation, but it seemed there were 2 bars on each level that were reasonably accessible. The crowd control was reasonable as the staff between the crowd and the band caught people crowd surfing, there was some moshing, but people largely seemed to follow etiquette. The bands were great with Off With Their Head not doing the awkward opening-band-talking-when-nobody-knows who-you-are thing, the Aggrolites brought the reggae and while at first people people were resistant to the good vibes and positive energy by the end of the set people were into it. Bad Religion was as fantastic as they have been for the last 30 years, playing songs from their latest album, some of their big hits, as well as some songs that I was not expecting to hear live. After the show members from the bands came out and mingled with the crowd. Parking was $13. Maybe it was just my expectations, maybe it was just the bands I was going to see, but I didnt experience any of the bad customer service.

I took my 14 year old son to see his favorite group RED last night! He had been anticipating this for over a month and was completely "stoked". I was NOT happy at all with the security during this event. There were a group of 3 young men that grew into about 8 that were just shoving themselves around and crashing into non-participants who were trying to enjoy the concert either with their family, loved ones, friends, etc. Instead of breaking this up either from the beginning of it or even after it continued Security personnel just looked on. One of the Security men even came beside me looking for an innocent persons glasses that had been knocked off his head when he had been shoved. I was not able to enjoy the concert and the people around us were more concerned with looking over their shoulders to see where the next shove was coming from and to prepare for it. I know that in concerts that this happens but this was not published on the website as acceptable behavior or even tolerated behavior. I am previous military with extensive martial arts training and could have easily rendered at least one helpless; however, I showed restraint because as I said I had my 14 year old with me and did not want to do this to possibly have the remaining young men gang up on me. Lastly, I thought it was pretty bad when instead of talking about the concert and having a GREAT time and a FANTASTIC memory that we established together as father/son, my son talked about being shocked that nothing was done the entire 2 hours it took us to get home. I will have to think long and hard before I venture into your establishment again.

Horrible line/audience management, rude and unhelpful staff, drunken and unruly crowd. The line to get in basically had to police itself; there was a lot of confusion about where the front and back actually was, and the confusion was compounded by their cute little "pay extra to get in early" line. At one point the hallway where we were lined up was full of smoke; it actually got hard to breathe. A woman on crutches in front of us stood for almost an hour without being given a chair. No public restroom, but one woman in line was told she wasnt allowed to use the one attached to the venue. Once we were inside, staff continued to be a problem. My husband, who was talking pictures with his point and shoot--with no flash--got singled out and rudely told to put his camera away, which wouldnt even have been an issue but for all the other people who were taking pictures with flash and also video, pretty blatantly... which I guess is okay? Whatever. The band themselves (The Swell Season) was amazing, but the venue was an utter failure. We wont be back.

I just saw the mindless behavior concert with doggy Simmons, tyga, lil twist and others tonight with my little sister and her best friend. Ive been to several concerts but this was the worst experience ever. The concert itself was great for what we were able to see by sitting on the hard concrete floors looking through the rails between ppl legs. It was very uncomfortable. Customer service was poor and the "VIP" section was clearly stupid. You wasnt informed anything about paying an extra 10.00 to get up there. And they only sold a few bands and there was still plenty of space left. Beware ppl there are no seats, everything is basically first come first serve basis on whether you gon get to see the concert or not. This concert was for children and the adults were acting like kids hogging the rails and standing in front of the little children that were trying to see. Parents need to grown up! I will never go here again, and I will let everyone I know to never go there!

Pros: Generally good acoustics/sound. Friendly Staff Fairly Clean Good views if you can get there early enough to get along the railing (on floor level or upper levels) Safe place with metal detectors Ample parking garages nearby Cons: Refreshments very over priced. One mixed drink and an 8 ounce soda cost double digits Management unorganized. I am a photographer and after multiple communications arrived to pick up my press pass to find it wasnt there. The answer I got was that "they never got approval back". Well, from my initial inquiry - when asking for all my info for the pass and then not ever responding that there was an issue, makes me lean more towards investing in other venues with my artistry. At the very least a courtesy email or call would have been nice to avoid me having pack up all of my equipment and drive from another state. Overall a good venue to enjoy a show but event coordination and concessions leave a lot to be desired.

I was here to see Portal on the last night of Maryland Deathfest. After waiting 2 hours to buy my tickets, I was so stoked to see this band, as was the rest of the crowd, and they played HARD. They were booked to play until 1:40, and they ended up going about 5 minutes over since the crowd wanted an encore. Well, apparently it was past Rams Heads bedtime, so with 90 seconds left in the encore, they brought up the lights and cut the PAs. The band finished their set anyway so the venue didnt save themselves any time. I cant think of a more disrespectful thing to do to a crowd full of people who are more than willing to buy your overpriced beer and shitty food, much less to a band that rarely comes to this country. I loved MDF as a whole, but Ill skip the Rams Head tickets next year.
