So...I go to Dobson Ranch Golf Course today to meet Brad Bryant, a good friend of mine who was on the patio. We were chatting on the phone and he said stop by, hed buy me a drink. Well, I get there. ..and rather than get service I get told the manager wants to talk with me privately. Not sure if anyone remembers me commenting on my disapproval and disappointment with the current management and staff at both the pro shop and restaurant. I commented I would not spend another penny until things changed. Well, I told the employee that if the manager had anything to say to me she could do so in public. She opted out and no way was I meeting her in private. Now Dobson Ranch is a public golf course and Im entitled to my opinions. If you think you can refuse me service based off of a Facebook post...I suggest you rethink your position. This is a public course...not your kingdom.

Great course layout and the best golf value in the valley. Dobson Ranch GC is second only to Papago for city owned golf and Ive played EVERY public course in the valley over the last 25 years. Dobson Ranch is always $20-$40 less than Papago and has 5 star practice facilities. There are 2 huge practice putting greens, a practice chipping green, a separate sand bunker green and a massive driving range large enough to move the practice tees frequently, so you are always hitting balls off of new grass not sand or dirt. The course plays long from the tips and has large greens in surprisingly good condition considering how much any they see. Ive played the course about a dozen times over the last year and consistently finish in 4 hours to 4 hours 15 minutes. Twilight rates start early enough to play 18 holes and the pro shop and restaurant staff are friendly and professional.

I was playing a round of 18 with 2 friends. We were playing well and were in a great rhythm, until the 5th hole, when a ranger interrupted us. He stated that the group in FRONT of us was a hole ahead and if we didnt speed up play we would HAVE to skip a hole to catch up. There was NOONE behind us and we were playing at a very reasonable pace anyway. Even if there was a group behind us,which Ill repeat, there was NOT, id understand. I am the first one to admit when there is slow play involved as I believe in the rate of play rule. BUT, there was absolutely no reason for this to happen. The next 13 holes he kept coming by to check on us. It totally ruined our day and I will NEVER play this course again! Plus, the guy was a real jerk about it.

Booked a tee time online based on time I thought wed be there. Great price via Active Golf which came up on Dobson Ranch site. Called day of play to see if we could play earlier since we were in the area early. Ken in pro shop said "only if you pay more than already paid since we got such a deal", even though multiple open times were available. We got to course early and spent half hour practicing. We then sat in a cart for over an hour without one group being called to the tee box. We arrived at 11:30 and finally were allowed to tee of at 12:45. The 3 "lumps" in the pro shop just sat behind the counter and made no effort to provide any customer service. We will not be driving to Mesa from Peoria to play this course again.

Don’t Waste your time or money. We checked in at 1:00 pm for a 1:45 tee time. The range hitting area was bare dirt. When the starter called us at 1:50, there was still a foursome waiting to tee off on the first tee. We waited at each tee box for one or more foursomes for the rest of the front nine. That took 3 plus hours to play nine holes! At that rate of play it would have taken 6 hours or more to play 18 holes. We decided it was a waste of time to sit and wait the rest of the day and left the course after nine holes. When I asked the Course manger for a refund he said that the course plays at that rate (6 hours) all the time and refused to refund my green fees.

Horrendous customer service and golf course. I arrived right at the start of the day trying to get a quick round in. We purchased carts so we could play faster and they made us wait behind everyone that were walking. We agreed to start at hole 3. By the time we got to 9, they told us the back 9 was closed so we could only play 9. We then played 1 and 2, but they sent a cart ranger to ride alongside of us the entire time to ensure we didnt play any longer. As we were coming back, we saw groups playing hole 10. The whole staff, from club house to rangers had no service and no class. I hope none of you reading this ever play this dog track again.

What a horrible place. If this place wasnt owned by the City of Mesa then it would be out of business. Overpriced and the worst service Ive ever had at a golf course. If your seaching for a good place to golf I would keep looking. Also, if you have a problem make sure you dont work with Don Flavell the Golf Supervisor who is worthless. Im surprised he even has a job. He never contacted me back after 5 voicemails and 3 emails over a month long period. I dont understand how a business can be ran by such a moron. Highly recommend finding a better place to go golfing and I feel bad for the City of Mesa tax payers who have to pay for this course.

Originally asked us to wait for a group of two that were busy shooting errant shots on the driving range... at 5:30pm. It took about 10 min for the attendant to realize they still had about 3/4 of a big gulp of range balls to let us "skip ahead." No scorecard or pencil in cart... No worries I have a receipt and a sharpie. Get out and hit the longest drive Ive hit to date, about 340. Its about that time I realized they hadnt watered the course in about a week. Leave your wedges at home, save a stroke, and putt from anywhere within 100 yards. I promise you wont be disappointed.

Course conditions I would give 4 stars during the winter. The staff is rude most of the time. The range ball machine rarely works and takes you coin. Walk back in to the pro shop to get a new coin and they act like you did something wrong. Also had a 4 some playing in front of mens club one day and was harassed 3 times to speed up by some old goat, because they had mens club. We had nobody behind us for 2 holes and we finished our morning 18 in 4 hrs. Go to hell you old goat.

For the cost and condition of this course you cannot beat it. The fairways, greens, and bunkers are always in good shape and in the winter the greens become very pure. Even for the traffic this course gets on a weekly basis they maintain it and continue to invest in making the course better. Its also one of the few lit ranges in the valley and they actually take care of the range balls by constantly changing them out for new ones. I would highly recommend it.
