Went there today for the first time since moving back to Utah. I arrived at 830-ish and was not allowed to tee off until 9:30 because of frost which is what it is I suppose. I have played other courses that allowed you to tee off with some dew on the course but not so much here. I really enjoyed the course it was shorter than I thought but challenging because of the narrow fairways. I was the first one out as a single so I was playing rather quickly and made the turn in just over an hour. Number 7 hole wasnt punched nor did it have a flag anywhere to be found. After teeing off on Nine they were cutting the fairways and green. Well the fairway mower decided that he didnt care I was standing over my ball and drove past me several times getting closer and closer. The green mower turned off his engine until I finished putting which is normal. So I finished my round and went into the clubhouse to let the guy Shawn I believe what happened. He didnt apologize but made excuses for the mowers actions. He said "Well it is a city owned course and we cant start mowing until 7 so he was just trying to get his job done before the crowd starts coming in". I responded that I know he has to get his job done but I was 8 plus holes a head of the twosome behind me he could have stopped and turned off his engine for 5 seconds. His rebuttal was " well thats probably not going to happen at a city owned course and we cant stop for everyone that is going to hit" I responded I understand that but in this particular situation it wouldnt have hurt because I was so far ahead. His response was " like I said its a city owned course so probably not going to happen". Almost forgot after hitting my tee-shot on 10 there was a grounds-man on the green taking is sweet time to move the pin. I waited 5 minutes for that to happen. That might explain why they didnt have too many people out playing because of that exact mentality.... just cause its a city owned course doesnt mean you should lack golf etiquette. 3 Stars cause the course was in decent shape...

Course was in decent position but the landscaping staff was unfriendly, unprofessional, and very rude to customers. 4 out of 9 holes at 9am, and the staff should be done or at least just be courteous. Wouldnt turn machines off on tee boxes and following up to our second shots while never turning a machine off once. When we say something they keep going, finally have to let staff know and when we speak to someone they basically told me they didnt care cause I made a big divot while trying to not beat there old ass employees. They need to be rehired or retrained on how to run a business. All they had to say was, were a little behind today sorry and then mowers off and let us tee off and we would be fine. Such a joke to loose a loyal customer who has been coming here for at least 8 years. Sorry guys but Id rather drive then come give this place my money any further.

Played here for the first time today (Late October). We were delayed from teeing off for about 45 minutes due to frost on the greens. Nothing they could do about that. Pace of play for the most part was slow but not too bad. The course itself was in good shape, the greens were very fast and the fairways on the front 9 are quite narrow. You need to hit the ball straight (which I don’t) or you will lose a lot of balls (which I did). The back 9 opens up more so you felt like you could use the “Big Dog”. I enjoyed playing this course and will be back to try my luck again (when I want to lose some balls).

Unprofessional staff, unorganized & poorly maintained. EVERY time I practice there, I finish 9 and make the turn and they send a group off to the back to get in front of us. Marshals have no communication with the clubhouse, they are too busy looking for lost balls for their own pocket. Dont waste your time or money at this course. The head professional assumes everyone is trying to scam the course because he is afraid someone will catch him from skimming the cream off the top. These guys will not recognize another professional on the course unless you are their personal friend.

The course was in great shape! 1 big problem, there was a old man mowing who does not know what Customer Service means!! He followed us on 4 holes an kept going up an back an all around our group. I have been playing golf for the last 40 years an never have I seen a employee riding a Lawn Mower act like a "Hard Headed Moron!! Must of been mad he had to work on July 4th! 1. Sandy City needs to tell this guy Golfers pay a lot of money to play golf, and to have some RESPECT for paying customers. 2. Dont have this Old Man work Holidays!!

I am not a golf fanatic, but I enjoy playing several times over the summer. River Oaks is a nice quiet course with a wide variety of terrain. It is in the Jordan River Bottom so you have some water to add some fun. Some holes are wide open, others carved into the scrub oak. Great course, good design, and NOT closed as some yahoo posted...duh! We live in Utah where it snows in the winter so all courses are going to be closed for a few months from fall to spring.

Have played there quite often. Its a good course. Not long, but accuracy is very important. On some holes, even if you land in the middle of the fairway, unless you hit a high ball off the tee, it may well roll off into some hazardous situations. Number 1 hole is a good example. But all in all, it is a good course. Another good thing about this course, maybe even one of the better things, is that nearly all of the staff there are good friendly people.

Good course. Very hard, if you spray balls around, you better bring more than a sleeve. If you hit fairly consistent, youll have fun here. Greens are usually decent too. As another reviewer posted, it is kinda odd to me that the grounds team is still mowing nearly until 11-12 sometimes. But I have never had them be rude or not run machines while they are near me so I dont think they are rude in any way.

Fantastic course. Back 9 is arguably one of the most enjoyable back 9 youll play in the valley. The only reason for the 4 stars is I tend to agree with the comments about the staff. Theyre not that organized. Ive been there when they are a half hour late in opening the course, tee times are screwy, etc. BUT, as a course it is excellent and is a blast to play.

Played this course for the first time yesterday. Scored badly but really loved it. Beautiful layout, every hole distinctly different and nicely aligned with features of the land. Fastest greens Ive ever played on (which is why I got a high score). Short holes but tough greens and some narrow fairways, making the course a real challenge. Very good management.
