I grew up coming to this Sacramento icon. Where else can you go on the Crookedest Mile, climb through a big piece of cheese and slide down the big red shoe where the old lady lives with so many children she didnt know what to do. There is also a stage for concerts, farm animals, Sherwood Forest with play structures and tons of other activities. Mainly for the little ones, my daughter felt like she outgrew this place by third grade or so. They still have the castle where you can have birthday parties, but the moat has been sadly dry as of late. Adults cannot enter without a child which is a good thing. Chuck E Cheese doesnt have this policy, for instance. Usually you can find 2-for-1 coupons in the Entertainment Book and parking can sometimes be a challenge on the weekends since you have the trifecta of Land Park staples all in the same area: Sacramento Zoo, Funderland and Fairytale Town. Since it is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, they are always putting on tons of fundraisers. Ive gone to a few and they are unique, family-friendly and so much fun! I attended the Midsummer Nights Dream event with the all-you-can-eat Crystal ice cream. I forgot how much Strawberry Cheesecake was my favorite flavor growing up. Eating a bowl of this and curving through the crookedest mile made me feel young and old at the same time.

We loved Fairytale Town! My almost 4 year old and 20 month old had a blast running all over this place. They didnt have the patience or attention span to stop and listen to the stories and songs, so buying the key to access these audio boxes wasnt worthwhile, although they make a nice souvenir. The kids especially liked all the various slides, and getting their photo taken with their faces in a Wizard of Oz backdrop. There is a great non-themed, closed-in playground where the kids burned off a ton of energy while the adults made good use of the benches nearby. But the bigger appeal was all of the story and nursery rhyme themed displays that they could climb in and all over. The various live animals were a big hit too, especially the newly hatched chicks in the barn. And guess what? No money grabs! There was a small cafe/concession, but no overpriced gift shop, no being inundated with products at every turn. Refreshing! Well priced, too. If we were locals, I would go back again and again.

My kids, 6 and 8, absolutely love this place. We have been going here for years and they never get tired of it. We stay the whole day and they never stop playing. If you have active kids, this is the place for them. Lots of physical activities, as well as imaginative play. The theme of the place is, as the title suggests, fairytales. It is ideally for younger kids (preschool age) but my kids are older and they have a blast. There are lots of animals to interact with. Face painting and a snack bar, too. Birthday parties are a big hit here. The Sacramento Zoo is just a short walk across the street.

On Sunday, we went to the fairytale town for a birthday party. It was in the garden area. The kids had so much fun watering the plant. Another fun activity they did was color the paper and paste outside their pot plant. And they grew some type of pea ( the young girl helping was unsure what type of pea exactly it was). Anyways, the kids had tons of fun and they had a chance to explore the fairytale. If you read fairytale stories then youll be visit this place. We ordered chicken tenders from the food court and it was horrible. Take your own food.

According to the person you pay to get in, you MUST have a child to enter. I brought my special needs adult with me because she enjoys child like things. I was told that a child is required by city ordinance law. The employee though was unable to site the city ordinance and the website doesnt say anything about having a child to enter. Maybe its to keep sex offenders away. Its not like its a day care or that children are not supervised. Sex offender would probably get off more by peering in through the fence or just sitting out front.

We came here with a 8, 7 & 5 year old on a Monday afternoon. We were pleased with how few people there were here! There are whimsical drinking fountains, a variety of farm animals, convenient restrooms, and fairy tale themed play spaces. The whole place was clean and well kept. The kids especially enjoyed the crooked mile, the play structure, and the teepees. 2 1/2 hours was more than enough time. I would not recommend fairy tale town for children much older than ours. It is geared towards younger children.

Takeaway: Great place for kids. Probably a good 1/2 day activity. Daughter is almost 18m. She loved it. Ran everywhere. Saw the animals. Went down the slides, etc. Wore her out completely (major plus). Its like a well maintained public park. No mechanical rides, but lots of stuff to climb on and look at. Prices are reasonable. Both for entrance and concessions. Have decently healthy stuff at the concession, if youre into that. We got there early, had the place to ourselves for about an hour.

I love the idea of this place. Fairytales come to life in playground form. Fun for all ages and several places to sit down. The Old Woman who lives in her shoe is a medal slide. Realistically, on a hot day this is a terrible idea. It needs to be redone to make that exhibit fun for kids. 4 of the story players were broken. Parking is a walk to the front gate. Plus side is they have really cool displays for the kids to see. Touch. Run around. Be a kid. Talk about each story.

A wonderful place to take the children for a day of fun. Its a mini theme park with animals, vendors selling flavored ice chips, popcorn, hamburgers, etc., and face painting. There is a concession stand that serves ice cream and other delights. Its also a very nice place for photos: Visit the Koi pond, the ship, sleeping beautys castle and a Japanese garden complete with a bridge. I was surprised. I went for the opportunity to photograph International Day of Dance

Came here after seeing it across the street from the zoo. It also has zoo animals inside but only pigs, pony, sheep, goats, roosters and parrots. I might have missed a few but it was a cool experience for us. They had little areas setup from different fairy tale stories. We stayed around 2 hours and will be back. Only wish they had costume characters roaming around. That would have put this place over the top.

My kids love this place. I love it too, as we can let our 3 year old safely indulge his need to explore. The upkeep over the years has been wonderful and most of the park looks very good for the age of the place. The admission price is also very reasonable and I really like that you cant gain entry without a child with you. Clean, comfortable and the kiddos always have a blast. Highly recommended.

Their is much to do at Fairytale town when you pay attention to the calendar and is a safe place to take your kids on dats like Halloween as well. My kids love it and occupy themselves exploring the little maze or sliding down their wonderful barn and treehouse slides. They also love to pet the animals they have.
