The tour was ok. The school house actor and the lady that spun her own cotton were just on point, loved them. However the gift shop has removed ALL Confederate flag bearing items. Regardless of if you like it or not Alabama was part of the Confederacy for almost 5 years. That is an integral part of Alabama history. Hiding the history does not change it.

Old Alabama Town is a great visit for any history enthusiast. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and has an excellent knowledge of how early Southern life was like. It is a wonderful place to spend the afternoon catching up on history.

I was only able to visit the working block, but there was a lot of great history for 19th century Southern life. There were some gents in the blacksmith shop (YouTube channel Bleached Nebula) who really made the visit.

there are 2 areas - one reflecting the living - the other reflecting working in Alabamas past. You can stroll around and visit e.g. the tavern, doctors, practice, grocery, school, cotton gin or drugstore.

Enjoyed looking at the old homes, would have enjoyed the tour if the parents had been included, tours were not well planed for larger groups.
