I dont understand these bad reviews. I thought it was fantastic. They have an astounding glass collection (Harvey K. Littleton, AKA the father of the glass-as-an-art movement, Carl Nordbruch, Petr Hora, etc) and a beautiful wood working collection as well. They also had a John James Audubon exhibit when I visited. They were beautiful screen prints, and I wish it had been permanent. They also own very unique pieces from Warhol, Rockwell, and they have some of Picassos ceramic work as well. Gorgeous china from Chinas dynasty days and other older collections from India and surrounding Asia. Definitely a hidden gem in Mobiles otherwise lifeless, grey haze. My one critique is the pond right next door, between the museum and Langan park, is disgusting. Theres just a plethora of trash floating around: bread bags from where people just left their trash after feeding the birds, bottles, beer cans, paper plates, etc. Probably not the museums job, but come on! Clean it up, Mobile!

The people who run this place are horrible. So rude, if you hate people so much, dont work at a place like a museum. Im 7 1/2 months pregnant, my shoe was untied, I walked to distant wall near a bathroom to set my purse down and tie my shoe while leaning my shoulder on a wall. An old man yelled at me that I cant lean on the walls. Maybe he should have tied my shoe then? They also followed around families as if to stalk them so they could yell when they make a mistake. Perhaps they should work for TSA, since they take security and yelling so seriously.

I think our museum is wonderful! We have traveled to many of the worlds best museums and many have more masterpieces but I believe our museum has some wonderful pieces and collections. There has been a whirlwind of activity since our new director, Deborah Velders arrived. Many exhibition spaces have been re-done and improved. You should not miss our collection of glass, as well as American Crafts and art of the great Depression. When visiting Mobile I know youll love our Museum!

I cannot believe I spent money to see this. The lobby is neat, but thats where it stops. Back in the 1990s this museum had some nice exhibits but since the remodel its just downright shameful. And, they actually required me to lock up my camera in a cabinet! Do yourself a favor, make the 4hr drive to Birmingham Museum of Art. Its 100% FREE, youre allowed to take photographs, and the collection is astounding.

Absolutely beautiful museum. I recommend it for a lazy Sunday with family and friends. The staff were very knowledgeable about the exhibits and recommendation on what to look at. The museum was spotless and kept nice a cool. Great place to escape the summer heat. The huge windows offer beautiful natural lighting.
