I dont usually share negative experiences like this because everyone has an off day. However, tonights experience was unlike anything Ive ever experienced and Im still really upset! My sweet mother bought tickets online for me and my two girls (5 & 13) to see lala land tonight (a new musical with Ryan Gosner) at Crescent Theater. We got there and after standing in line outside for 20 mins the owner stopped us right at the theater doors and yelled at my 5yr old first asking her "What are you doing? This is not for kids! You absolutely cannot go in there!" Then he looks at us and says "This is NOT a daycare center! This movie is pg 13!" I honestly thought he was kidding but he continued to yell at my mom and I for bringing a child into his theater for a pg 13 movie! And I promise you he made a huge scene in front of a crowd of people! He insisted that he give us our money back and proceeded to walk us out! I was in total shock and still cannot believe how he treated us! If he truly felt so strongly about Avery seeing a pg 13 movie he couldve quietly pulled us aside instead of publicly humiliating us. I will never step foot in this place again and will make sure that EVERYONE knows how hateful this man was to us including my 5yr old and my 60yr old mother!!! Please dont waste your breath telling me anything positive about the owner or this theater. Theres no excuse for treating people the way he did tonight...none. And PLEASE feel free to share because Id never want anyone to be treated the way we were tonight. Make sure you copy and paste my story when you share otherwise all theyll see is the picture and original post. #crescenttheatermobile #maxmorey

Everytime I have been to the Crescent, it has been an experience. I love that someone always introduces the film and tells you a bit about it. There are recliners up front, if you can get to the show early enough. Also provided: AIRPLANE BLANKETS!!! I am always cold in the theater...so this is AWESOME in my book. Also, if you need anything during the movie, help yourself and you can square up as you leave. Did I mention that the prices were ridiculously reasonable? It is an incredible, incredible place that we are so very lucky to have in Mobile.

I absolutely LOVE this theater! The lobby is always covered in awesome posters, the guys who own it are completely sweet and amazing. The theater is always, always clean and the most comfortable seats you can imagine. Helpful hint: get there about a half hour before the show and you might be able to sit in the amazing front row recliners! The regular seats are comfortable as well, but those recliners are to die for. Excellent movies are shown always, this theater is a gem and worth coming back to again and again.

This is a great one screen theater! The first couple rows of seating are recliners. The are comfortable but kind of close together. The movie starts promptly at the times stated, 2, 6 & 8 pm. The staff is friendly. There are light concessions but the theater serves beer and wine! Not a place you would bring young children, all of the movies Ive seen advertised are rated PG-13 or R. I would recommend this as a cool little spot to check out with friends or if youre on a date downtown.

I love the Crescent. I go every time the films change because it doesnt matter what is playing, all the films that show at the Crescent are high quality. Its independently owned by someone who knows and loves movies. Its a real pleasure to see a film at the Crescent because all of the other attendees are there for the film, not to chatter, text or cause other distractions. A bag of popcorn, a Dr. Pepper, a terrific film - my treat to myself!

Best movie theater ever. I went to see "The Artist" and the manager/owner introduced the movie to the audience, explaining that the Crescent Theater was around 100 years ago and showed silent movies similar to "The Artist." Concessions are reasonably priced. The front row full of recliners is awesome. Mobile is very fortunate to have this theater to show independent, high quality, not so mainstream films.

We have so much fun here - the movie selection is an excellent mix of quirky, art house, indie and the occasional mega blockbuster. PLUS it is a locally-owned small business in DOWNTOWN Mobile. PLUS you can purchase and consume adult beverages while watching the movie. If you want a vibrant scene support your local business. See movies at the Crescent!

“Those Recliners!” My husband and I saw "Sully" at the Crescent Theater last week, and it was a terrific experience. The movie was great, but the theater itself is really marvelous. Lots of drink and snack options, huge comfortable recliners (in the front two rows -- get there early to snag one) and even blankets.

GREAT theater! My husband and I go to this theater every time we are in Mobile. It is so nostalgic, comfortable, and the shows are always delightful. It is so nice to step back in time to simpler things like this wonderful little theater.... a breath of fresh air! We love to take our grandchildren there also.

Thank goodness that Mobile has the Crescent Theater!! Without it, there would be no place within 100 miles to see the kinds of independent films that are worth seeing on a large screen and that never seem to make it to the multiplexes that are all showing the same few blockbusters at the same time.

Historic theater located in Downtown Mobile. Very simple, as it only has one showing room, but the experience is fantastic. The owners take the time to know their patrons and are very knowledgeable about the theaters history and the movies they choose to show. Great beverage selection as well.

The owner is an awesome guy. He really knows his movies. He always seems interested in the customers thoughts and feedback. The Lazy Boys up front are always worth getting to the show early for. I really feel comfortable every time I have gone. This place is an amazing place to go to.

Bar none the most unique and enjoyable movie expience available. No beginning ads, no long trailers before the movie starts, just a very passionate owner introducing the film in person. Go early pick a theatre recliner up front and prepare to enjoy yourself immensely

This is a fabulous place to watch a movie. It is clean! The chairs are comfortable, especially the lounge chairs on the first two rows. The popcorn is fresh and the beer and wine list is abundant. The movies change almost weekly and the selections are varied and unique.

This theater is amazing and really friendly! It has a luxurious and old time style. They sell alcohol along with all the other concession food you love like candy, soda and poocorn. I go here a lot to see interesting movies you wont find at the regular movie theater.
