In this day and age, a theater which charges prices comparable to those of premium theaters in the area and actually lacks digital projection or decent sound is unthinkable. The video quality was abysmal and dark - my first impression was that they were playing a bootlegged copy on their projector which they downloaded off the internet. With the audio which kept dropping in volume I was almost sure that the copy was bootlegged. Their screens are small, and the only saving face is probably free popcorn. I went there for a movie which they were showing according to their webpage. My friend went there on the day they were supposed to start screening only to be told that they would start screening it the following day. I went there with this information the following day hoping to watch that particular movie only to find out that they didnt have the movie yet and didnt know when they would be getting it, while their webpage continued to show it in their listings. This is just horrible regard to the customer while providing a subpar experience. Folks who said that they had big screens or this was the best theater in Bham must either be owners/employees/paid reviews or must have never been to Rave, or Carmike in the area. None of the other 5 star reviews even remotely mention the horrible, dark video quality and the awful sound (which kept dropping without notice), instead everybody keeps mentioning the beverages and free pop corn. Come on people, a theater is not about drinking soda, its about watching a movie. If the projector and audio are awful, that purpose is being defeated !! I couldve had a better experience watching the movie on a home theater system. Even the $1 theater on Lorna has a better value for money than this, AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!

(MAJOR NEGATIVES):This theater has the potential to get a 5-star rating, but lacks the most VITAL necessity: Exceptional Visuals. The visual quality is darker than what it should be. At one point during my movie, it was sooo pitch black (even the white actors looked like they were black.. Thats how bad it was). However, it may be certain theater rooms with dark visuals because my next visit was better since I was in a different room, but still dark to where it needs improving (but tolerable). (POSITIVES): The seats are the best in town! Theyre so comfortable. They also have awesome recreational entertainment for the kids & adults. Their $5 Tuesday movie day is great for those looking for entertainment on a budget btw. (Minor Annoyances): I dislike having to purchase my ticket at the concession. I think they should have a separate ticket booth area because getting tickets while others are in line to get food causes a longer wait. -Overall, theyre just decent, in my opinion. Once that screen situation is fixed, Ill give them a 5-star rating. I recommend still going, with the exception of if youre going to see an action film. I only go on $5 Tuesdays to get my moneys worth with that screen situation.

This is actually a really nice theater! I didnt expect it not to be, but I didnt necessarily have the expectation that it would be either! Theater prices are theater prices, but great layout, fairly clean, good concession selections (including alcohol; wine & beer), big viewing rooms with comfy seating. Also a pretty nice game room if youre into that kind of thing. Also something that I could appreciate was that after dark, there was security (actual Police) around to keep things enforced and safe. There was a large group of teens somewhat loitering within the game room area when we left the movie. While I was waiting on wifey to finish up a convo, I watched police nicely round up the teens and shuffle them outside. No drama, no conflict... just keeping things in order. Definitely had a great experience and whenever we plan to be on this side of town, will definitely consider The Edge 12 as a go-to theater!!

The people here are ALWAYS so nice! They have recently been bought by a new company, so some things will probably change, but I hope they keep the people they have now. They are always friendly & helpful. The facilities are nice as well. The chairs are comfortable, the digital projectors work perfectly, the sound clarity & volume are always just right. They even have tables setup between some chairs throughout the theater for your drinks. Also, their ticket pricing seems to be lower than most other theaters in the county. Some people are hesitant to go to this theater because the shopping mall it is in has a checkered past. But know this. Once they put a Police Station in directly across from the Theater years ago, crime literally vanished here. Now the entire area is safe, clean and family friendly, at any time of day or night. I highly recommend this theater. It is one of my favorites.

The manager there was very rude to me on yesterday. I purchased a ticket from living socials and one from groupon. I pulled out the wrong ticket, which I had previously used. While I was trying to figure out why it was saying I used it already. I was talking to the manager and he rudely began to talk to the next customer behind me as if I wasnt trying to get him to help me understand why my coupon had been used. Then I asked him if he had the customer service number to living socials. He sarcastically responds and tells me didnt you order it on line check with them and proceeds to walk off. His social and customer service skills are awful. I wouldnt recommend no one to this theater all on a count of his attitude. I just found my groupon coupon that I purchased a while a go and it is the one that had not been used. He made me so upset I dont even want to use it.

Edge 12 is a solid theater in the Birmingham area. Tickets are a reasonable price, especially if you are a student or military. Prices for snacks and drinks are pretty average, but the large pop corn does get you unlimited refills if it wasnt massive enough for you. You can also get refills on your drinks since you help yourself. Our showing started at 9:45 and I typically show up 10 minutes late to miss out on part of the trailers. When I showed up 10 minutes late the movie had just started. So very little advertising is done which is nice. The seats were comfortable as well. I did notice hearing occasional sounds from other films playing in neighboring theaters. It did not bother me that much. All said and done, this is an above average theater.

Dont listen to other posts about customer service. Ive been more times than I can count to this theatre both with my wife & to bring my 3 children! We love the atmosphere b/c it feels safe. The prices for a movie theatre are within expectation. The staff there has never been anything but amazing to us. One time I MADE A MISTAKE about a movie time and we were using a half off ticket through someone & it was expiring. Needless to say that movie had started a long time before we got there. The manager smiles, and says here; she handed me a voucher good for 60 days! They appreciate me & I appreciate them! Youll enjoy your time there I can say without any doubt in my mind.

This is the closest theatre to my house so we go here often. The negatives of this theatre are the same negatives I have about every theatre in town - no one enforces the no cell phone rules, talking during movies, etc. But that seems to be everywhere I have been in the city. All in all, it is a good theatre experience. I like the self serve drinks, concessions are reasonably priced for a movie theatre. Always a good selection of movies. I remember when the previous theatre was in this location many years ago and it was so dangerous I quit going, along with just about everyone else in town, hence it shutting down. But having the BPD precinct there helps.
