I have to agree with one of the other reviewers thank God for Groupon! This place was such a great find for me and my friends that we have already made our second visit and are planning to return very soon. The beautiful home is located right on the top of a hill and after you have completed your tasting and chosen your wines to purchase they have several large lounge chairs and picnic tables to enjoy the gorgeous view of the mountains and the vineyard. We had the pleasure of having the wine maker conduct out tasting both times and they both love to tell the story of how they came to own the property (very cute family story). They are so friendly and welcoming both in person and over the phone. Our first visit was in the fall of 2012 and we (group of four) were lucky enough to pick a perfect day to sit outside and enjoy the leaves just as they were beginning to change. We got the cheese boxes that came from the local cheese farm that went perfectly with the wine. Our second visit was just last week for my birthday (group of 8) and again another perfect day to sit outside and enjoy the view and even more vines. We called ahead to make sure they could handle a big group (it was originally 11) and they said it would not be a problem , that we could even bring the pups, and suggested that we bring food for a picnic. Once the owner learned that it was my birthday she recommended that we relax outside and that she would bring us some treats. She brought more of the local cheese and some delicious chocolate cupcakes and truffles on a cute plate. One of the cupcakes had a candle in it and everyone outside sang happy birthday. It was definitely sweet and a great addition to our already perfect visit. They have definitely made some improvements to the property, including sprucing up the basement and adding a bathroom instead of a Porta-John, more wine choices and there are plans to add another building since they are running out room in the basement. If you are looking for a small, quiet, cozy place with that neighborly feel to relax with good wine, I HIGHLY recommend this place. My favorite wines are: • 2010 Meritage • 2009 Merlot • 2010 Cobblestone White • 2012 Chardonnay

We went there for the ciders, which is the main subject of this review. Unless you like super-sweet, syrupy, over-flavored ciders--of which there are a dozen or so to choose from--there are really only two worth mentioning: The "Mountain Top Hop" (which is a pleasant, off-dry, lightly hopped cider I rank among my favorites) and the "Traditional Jeffersonian"--an only apples traditional cider in the style of Thomas Jefferson. My chief complaints are the customer service and the ambiguous, poorly-disclosed pricing structure. The staff were pushy and impersonal, which I could have overlooked. However, it turns out the advertised "case discount" I specifically asked for when ordering was ignored, and instead I was delivered a case of 24, 12-oz bottles that were not discounted. Turns out the florescent-yellow advertisement touting the case discount only applied to 25-oz bottles--although not stated anywhere. The total price for the 12-oz case was over $120 dollars! Thats the equivalent of $30 per six-pack!!! For comparison, Bold Rock IPA runs $10 per six pack. So, unless youre just looking for an expensive, 300%-markup, somewhat aggravating day out, I suggest you run down the road to Flint Hill and order a pint of Cobbler Mountain on draft at the wonderful Griffin Tavern and restaurant. The food and atmosphere are amazing, and you will pay a reasonable price for fresh draft of Cobbler Mountain cider. For the record, I do not work for nor have a stake in the Griffin Tavern. Im just a huge fan.

A great experience! They have two wines: a white "fizzy" Vidal Blanc and a Petit Verdot. But the best reason to go here is the ciders. These are not heavy beer type ciders but light fruity ciders. We were greeted first by their pooch, Corky. Then the owners daughter and her cousin. In addition to the wine and cider tastings, we tried the sangrias they had just thrown together that day. We were hooked. After getting the recipes, we took home all the wine and ciders needed to make a couple of batches. Beautiful grounds, a little creek area to explore, pet and children friendly, very friendly staff. Well worth going out of your way for. Just like little excursions in Ireland.

Family-friendly cidery and winery. The wine tasting room has a little playroom nook under the stairs. Dogs are welcome, too. We did the cider tasting then played checkers while we drank a glass of cider. They had maybe 10 ciders on tap. One of the owners was doing our tasting so she was able to answer all our questions. Its definitely off the beaten path... and up a mountain. Theres an open yard with tables and chairs to have a picnic lunch.

This place is pretty far off the beaten path way out in the country. That said it is a pretty location. The ciders ranged from fair to really excellent (to my taste anyway). My favorites are the orange, blackberry and cinnamon flavors. A tasting will run you about 8 dollars and they have many bottle/growler options available.

I do not understand how this place has good reviews. It was the worst winery I have ever been to. The people were not friendly, the wine was disgusting, and I dont know how they can consider those drinks as ciders. The only redeeming quality was the atmosphere so it is a shame the quality was so poor.

What a find! Cobbler Mountain has some of the best VA wine Ive tasted. The production volume is tiny, but the quality is exceptional. Its a little hard to find and easier to access in an SUV than in a sports car, but Ill take the M3 back again.

We came up there on Saturday for the tasting and live music and have to say that I had an absolute blast. The atmosphere, music and cider were absolutely wonderful! I cannot wait to go back!

Front staff was pleasant with wine tasting, older lady in the back doing the cider tasting was rude. Demanded refund and left. Dont waste your time.

Even with the power out and water off the service was great and the cider was outstanding. I plan on going back with some friends so they can try.

There is one woman on staff that is about as rude as they come. The cider is tops and the wine is 3-4 stars. This one staff member is awful.
