My husband and I first tried one of the Owen Roe wines, the Sharecropper Pinot Noir, at a restaurant in San Francisco a couple of years ago. Since then we tried several of their wines, and loved them all (even gifted some to friends). Naturally, when we visited Portland last weekend we decided we had to visit their winery. The winery is a bit out of the way (most of the wineries in the Willamette Valley seem to be in the Dundee-Newberg area), and not regularly open to the public. Tastings are by appointment only, but theyre very friendly and dont make a fuss about it. Even though they were in the middle of bottling, they were very accomodating with our not-so-flexible schedule. Our host was great and answered all our questions without a marketing-y tone that some tasting rooms often have. We greatly enjoyed our visit and even got to taste some new wines we hadnt had the chance to try before. We highly recommend Owen Roe to anyone curious about trying Oregon and Washington wines.

This winery is absolutely one of the best wineries here in Oregon. Ive been following them since 2002 when my wife and I were in Seattle for our honeymoon and a wine store right across from the Pikes Place Marketplace recommended a 2000 Owen Roe Abbotts Table Red Blend. Since then Ive been ordering their wines and finally this past July we got to visit the winery and have a proper tasting of all their wines. They make some great red wines! Most of their fruit comes from Washington and they excel in their Cab and Syrah offerings in my opinion. Owen Roes tasting manager, Jill, was super friendly and helpful and we never felt rushing in our tasting! If you like big, flavorful red wines you definitely need to visit Owen Roe!

Stellar wines despite their "split personality" of being both an Oregon and Washington winery. Been fans since stumbling across a bottle of Sharecropper in a San Francisco restaurant three or so years ago. Finally got up to the winery and naturally came out with a pile of great bottles that well be savoring for days to come.

Good wines for the right palate. I dont particularly care for dry Pinot Noirs but, if you do, Im sure you will enjoy as they are full of character. Snobbish attender, however was a turn-off, Shes is eager to correct you anytime you say something outside of the industry jargon. She should not be in contact with customers.
