I was basically asked to leave. When I arrived I was asked to check in at the pro shop today because I brought my own golf balls to use on their putting and practice green. You see, they charge a mandatory 15$ practice fee for the range, practice green and putting green, non payers not welcomed. So if you want to get a few putts or chips in, you need to go somewhere else. Everything wrong with golf today, what a grubby greedy facility! On top of that, the counter guy (I doubt he is a pro) was uptight and rigid about it. Dont bother playing here, wait for the Cowboys Club in Irving to pop a 99$ deal on Ideal Golfer website. You eat all day, full great breakfast, the golf cart is at your disposal, make the turn and eat again at their open grill... they had great sausages, lunch or dinner after your round, tremendous experience! No booze/beer included. You get full run of all the amenities, supper friendly staff, great bar and grill, overall excellent experience. I have played SCR golf club before and I was not impressed with it, Im a former golf pro myself. All you really get are good bent grass greens and fairways, Cowboys GC has them too. Simply put, too many very narrow golf holes, clearly due to not enough land to create a good golfing experience. The grubby greedy comment I made indicates a higher level of pressure that is likely putting strain on the staff. Could explain the several other reviews pointing to how unfriendly they are. It all starts at the top. Staff, find another golf employer and golfers, save up and play Cowboys GC, you wont be disappointed!!

Love this course. The course is tough but a great place to improve your game if thats what your trying to do. Overall, the course is what makes this place. You get a great view when you pull in to the parking lot (especially when the sun is rising over the trees). Big fan of the course and if you are looking for a good mix of shots this will give it to you. Definitely worth trying. Service side very mixed. There are some great people working here (polite to professional) but there are some very noticeable issues occurring on the service side, which other reviews seem to have noticed. It wouldnt take much to improve that. Make people feel welcome. Tell them to have a great time. Tell them the hole position. Smile. Be attentive in the service areas (driving range balls, bar and grill area...which has some very friendly people working in it...but keep it real, etc). Noticed they posted some "How to fix your divot" signs in the carts. Love that. Fix your divots people! Learn ready golf. It makes the whole experience better for all of us.

Poor service. The course is kept in good shape and is challenging. Pace of play is always good. At $80 plus dollars a round (for public course), the service is poor. Discounts are available but hard to find and the pro shop wont tell you when they are available. The staff is courteous when they do show up but there is never an above or beyond. The maintenance crew will interfere with your shots by walking on the greens & tee boxes while you are sizing up your shot. The young adults hired as staff are busy discussing their social schedule and when they are about to get off work. This course is a good round of golf. Bring your own drinks or snacks in your bag so not to expect the staff to step up. Coyote Ridge 15 minutes away in Carrollton (semi-private) has much better values, outstanding service a great bar & grill - I have walked up without a tee time and played a round for $40.

I am a golfer but now writing regarding the management. I am a homeowner with property backing up to a drainage area on the 15th fairway. They refuse to maintain this area - it is full of trash, weeds, all kinds of debris and trees. This area is so overgrown and full of trash that there is no way it can properly drain - so now it is full of standing water, rats and snakes. Prior to the current management this area was kept clean and cut and we never had a problem with the rodents and snakes - both of which are to the point of posing a health concern. I have had to hire an exterminator just to keep the rodents out of my yard . There are two homes in serious danger of flooding should we get a lot of rain. The present management is the worst neighbor ever. I am sure their crappy attitude extends of other areas of the golf course .

We have to drive over 60 miles to play here. Even so, over the last couple of years, we have played here about three or four times a year. We find the course fairly demanding, in reasonable shape with good greens and level tees. Pace of play during the week is fantastic; we play in just over three hours. Sure, there are ball marks on the greens but we try to repair at least 10 on every green as we go through. Not so fond of the traps, but it is early in the season. Even though weve played it twice already four months into the year, we will likely return three or four more times. We simply enjoy the course.

Terrible staff. Treated my entire group rudely and we will never go back. Management had overbooked the course and rushed us off the course so another group could start. We were in the middle of a tournament and had to cancel it because several groups were not allowed to finish. In 25 years of golf, Ive never received such treatment. Spoke with management but our words fell on deaf ears. No apology or compensation whatsoever. Paid $75 for an incomplete round and no refund. Inexcusable!

Horrible experience with staff and management. My group paid about $80 per round in a group tournament and the staff rushed us through our set. After the second round we ask to speak with management and got ran around. Finally spoke with management and the situation got worst. We couldnt finished and felt uncomfortable after the manager different offer an apology or refund. We will never ever go back to Sky Ranch.

From out of town visiting grandkids and played this course. Really liked it. Has 4 sets of tees from 5400 to 7000 yds. Pretty course but can be tough due to lots of trees and water. Theres a creek that meanders throughout the entire course. Fairways and greens were in very good condition for a public course.

Danny Hammond...June 25. 2010. We play all over the metro and this is by far my favorite course! Great layout, greens are fast and excellent, always in good shape and not a better practice facility anywhere. Cost a bit more than some, but its WELL worth it. If you like NICE courses you have to try this one!!!!!

The driving range needs some serious attention but the rest of the course is pristine. Plenty of water around the course which is a huge plus compared to other courses. Challenging course and strategy is a big part of a good score here. The bar cart girls really friendly as well as the shop guys.

Overall good course. Bent grass greens that were beat up pretty bad because people will not fix ball marks. Staff was very friendly. Great clubhouse. Interesting layout. Played through idealgolfer, if not I would say overpriced. Good practice facility, driving range was a little dry.
