Ate here for the first and last time last week. At the bottom of my bowl of soup was a razor sharp piece of foil. Luckily I felt the sharpness and caught it before swallowing it otherwise the Packing House would have a lawsuit on their hands. After alerting the staff, the manager came to my table to apologize and offer his excuses for why their was a finger nail size piece of foil in my soup and covered my and my husbands drinks. He should have covered our entire meal, being THAT close to swallowing a piece of foil is very serious!! To add insult to injury, the water boy made an inappropriate comment while filling our water glasses about finding foil in my food as if it was something to joke about. The only reason my husband and I chose this place was because we received a gift card for here and I would have rather threw it in the garbage if I knew what a disaster our dining experience would be. Outside of the insensitivity of management and staff about there being razor sharp foil in my food, both the food and drinks are extremely overpriced. A bloody is $8 and small mixer $7. The drinks were disgusting. The cheapest food option on the menu is $22 for very small servings. Both my husband and I felt sick to our stomach within a half hour after dining here. Bottom line: skip the Packing house and go anywhere else. I do mean ANYWHERE. Taco Bell serves better food than Packing House and I can honestly say that I never had foil in my food at Taco Bell. Youll also want to skip this dump if youre under the age of 60 since its a very old crowd. UPDATE: Just an update after receiving the response from the owner. You either have misinformation or are thinking of the wrong customer. First off, neither myself nor my husband have EVER worked in the restaurant industry, nor retail for that matter, so we did not state such a thing. Whats most disturbing about your response is the fact that when I had the waitress check the balance of the gift card we had, she informed us that there was $40 on it. Not $100 as you state. We ended up paying the difference of $6.66, to which we left a 1 cent tip to indicate our disapproval of our dining experience. If there was $100 on our gift card then that means our waitress was dishonest with us and pocketed $60 from our gift card because she did not return the gift card to us. This also means that someone ELSE other than myself found foil in their soup besides me, which is totally unacceptable and dangerous for future customers. Obviously my husband and I were not going to make a scene about the fact that I had metal/foil in my soup, while were dining. Just because a drink is "complimentary" (which was only the case because your manager thought that was appropriate action due to the metal in my soup), does not make them "good" by any means. To elaborate, your old fashioned was weak and the "disgusting" part was the mangled random fruit pieces in the bottom of the glass. The bloody mary was so strong it was undrinkable. The appropriate way of handling foreign objects in food is to comp the entire meal and take things like this more seriously. You seem to take foreign objects in food way too lightly. If I had swallowed this piece of foil/METAL, it would have been catastrophic. I am lucky that I caught it in my mouth when I did because I was very close to swallowing it when I realized that I felt something SHARP. Foreign objects in food is NOT to be taken lightly. My husband and I are not the confrontational type which is why outlets such as Google and Yelp exist, to let patrons leave reviews based on their experiences. Your response is just another reason we will never return to the Packing House and the reason we have told the person who gave us the generous gift card, about our experience and now they too, will not be back. When people ask us to recommend places to dine, we actively tell people both friends and coworkers about our experience at Packing House and to avoid. Once the old crowd you attract dies off, you will quickly go out of business and good riddance.

I will start by acknowledging that it was New Year’s Day and this might not be typical of the food/service at the restaurant because if it is always this bad I do not understand why it is still in business. I was with a party of 9 celebrating my aunts birthday, 5 out of the 9 of us are from Racine and based on the good reviews we decided to check this place out. Unfortunately, our experience was terrible. 3 of us tried the lobster mac n cheese which this place should be ashamed that they let get to our table. It is by far the worst thing I have ever been served at a restaurant. It had 3 pieces of overcooked lobster in noodles that were watery and under cooked beneath burnt noodles and breadcrumbs on top, with no cheese sauce. The waitress did not question why we wanted to send it back and made a face when we showed her the food. She offered to bring something else out, but after how inedible the first attempt was, I was hesitant to reorder. We decided upon the fish fry it was crispy, but lacked flavor and wasnt seasoned at all. Our party also sent back a filet ordered medium rare that was overcooked, the waitress asked if we could cut it down the middle and then acknowledged it was definitely overcooked and offered to bring a new one. At the end of our disastrous meal we just wanted to pay and leave. The waitress brought us the check and because we were a party of 9 they automatically added gratuity and calculated it for our meal plus all returned items. The waitress said it was a mistake and went to talk to someone about getting us a new bill, she returned with the same bill again said it was incorrect left and came back with an IDENTICAL bill. 3 times she brought us the same bill and kept admitting it was wrong. I finally manually added all the correct items on our bill and calculated the correct 18% gratuity and the waitress hand wrote it on the bill and we paid. It took over 20 minutes just to get a correct bill after already waiting for half our party to receive edible meals. Not once did a manager come to our table to apologize for the terrible food or the inability to get us an accurate check. As I mentioned more than half of our family lives in Racine and this could have been an option for family gatherings in the future, but after this abysmal meal, none of us will be returning.

This year, I decided to invite my whole family to my place for Thanksgiving. My family is huge, my kitchen is not. To alleviate some of the stress, I decided to order in Thanksgiving dinner. I tried requesting quotes at several other popular Milwaukee restaurants offering take-home Thanksgiving dinners, only to be turned down for having too small of an order, or be made to wait two weeks for an email reply or call back, or to be ghosted entirely, never once speaking to a human. The Packing House (PH) was different. I sent out emails requesting quotes on a Sunday afternoon in mid-October, and Chris at PH responded within a couple of hours. I had a few more questions about possible menu changes, about the day-of readiness of the food, and about quantities. He would always get back to me within 24 hours and was very friendly. I know I certainly wasnt placing the largest order theyd likely see for Thanksgiving, but they treated me like my order was just as important as someone ordering dinner for 500. I requested an invoice, I received one. I paid for the food over the phone, they scanned and sent me a receipt. When I called the day-of to let them know I was on my way to pick up the food, Rebecca from PH remembered me by name, and was incredibly kind about giving me exact directions. Pickup was effortless, and the kitchen was impeccably clean and looked to be running like clockwork. And to top it all off, the quality and taste of the food was outta the park. The meal included some of the most delicious mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, stuffing, turkey, and gravy that I have ever had. Wow. This is my first Thanksgiving in Milwaukee, and I definitely know where I will be getting my Thanksgiving dinner (and likely other dinners!) this next year. Thanks to everyone at PH for a lovely holiday event.
