Had a wedding reception there, its a nice location and good looking interior with small fountain and ample parking. Advice for someone interested is that be prepared to manage the event yourself. The staff barely does their own job forget about good customer service on the day of your event. The managers of the day of event are useless. Ofcourse they are nice to you when you book the place but these are not the people you deal with on the day of your event. You almost have to ask for everything and then they act like they are doing you a huge favour by completing your request when it should have done anyway. Also tell your venders to only listen to you as the staff will tell them stuff like to dj party ends at 12 when it is suppose to be til 12.30 and other vendors like florist and cake, oh if you have outside catering forget about any cooperation so you better make sure your vendor have all equipment to keep food warm and vendor overlooks set up and serving of food. Also check on bar opening and closing times as they may change on you, actualy in my case the event staff had no clue when bar suppose to be opened and closed. Also walk up to bar during event and check with guests if drinks are served good specially if you are paying extra for topshelf liquor. My over all experience was average, for the money i paid I should have recieved better service. I would recomend this place if you can follow the instructions above, also for their catering read other reviews as i had from outside. Hope it was helpful.

We held a wedding reception the weekend before Thanksgiving 2008 at the Waterford and everything went according to plan. The reception was for 125 people. The staff was great before the wedding and provided more than what was contracted during the room setup. The cost was very reasonable for the Washington DC area. The staff during the reception was attentive and service was good without being in the way. The cleanliness of the facility was very good. The lighting and room temperature was perfect. Another activity was going on in an adjoining area not directly next door and did not impact us at all. Two things to be aware of during the planning stage. There is turnover of personnel as in many service industries, so make sure to make regular contact to confirm the details if/when the event manager changes. They have several people in this role, but all seemed knowledgeable and responses were consistent regardless of who was addressed. Also the food in the sampling session was all excellent, but during the reception the food quality (particularly the fish) was not on par with the sampling. This should not be surprising given that feeding over 100 is different than 4. Make sure you ask for their advice on which of the food options are the best/easiest when serving a large group as they may differ from items that you might chose in a restaurant setting. Bottomline is that we had a great experience and would recommend Waterford to any of our friends for an event of this size and importance.

We just had a wedding reception there in October. It was absolutely horrible. The only thing good about it was the food. We could not find anyone at all to help us when we arrived. What was rehearsed the night before did not take place at all. We didnt have anyone to walk the relatives down the isle. They said they would be there to help us. The reception was suppose to last until 10 and they ended it at 8:30. Turned lights on--it was over. I had the shuttle coming at 10. The cake had not even been cut yet. So we hurried and cut the cake and served it to no one--as everyone had left. The cake was cut with no music, no guests and all the lights on. I gave the cake to a nice lady from W.Va. Didnt want to throw a $300 or more cake away. No plates to serve it on--when they found the plates I asked them not to cut it as there was no one there to eat it. So they cut it anyway and put a plate at each place setting. They totally undid all of my centerpieces and put them on tables they werent suppose to be on. It was a nightmare. They sure did take my money tho....The bride was in tears before it even started cuz she could not find a soul to help us-one hour before the wedding....Forgot one other thing--there were 2 other weddings going on at the same time so we kept getting moved from place to place to get out of their way. Our pictures were cut short because they needed the space.. How horrible was that?

I am a wedding coordinator and one of my clients had her wedding reception here and it was horrible. The poor girl had everything planned out and labeled in boxes for the Waterford in Springfield to set everything up. They did nothing according to how she wanted. They lost her memorial candle tent that she wrote for the family she had lost. They had vegetarians that didnt get there meals until the wait staff was asked for it. They paid for a Champagne toast and got sparkling cider instead. HORRID service by the banquet manager. Employees harrassed the guests at the wedding, which is totally uncalled for. Never think about having your reception here. They are a factory if you want a meaningful wedding that is unique and says something about you and your fiance, dont go to the Waterford. There are plenty of other venues that cost less and will do what you want for your special day.

This place may seem nice when you walk in. It is pretty inside and the employees act nice to you at first. However, beneath the facade, their hearts are black and they think only of getting into your pocketbook when you are vulnerable because you are trying to celebrate an important life event. On the day of your event, expect to have one or more problems that they will not really care about since they already have your money. As mentioned by other reviewers, they may start to shut your event down before the contracted end time, your set-up will not be as promised, you will not have promised service, and they may threaten your vendor. Do you really want to risk a bad memory about your life event from someone you will pay a bunch of money to?

We chose the Waterford for our 40th Wedding Anniversary and planned it for a year. When the doors opened we were dazzled by the beautiful room. The place settings sparkled and the chandileers shed a soft glow over the Gibson Ballroom. Waterford worked with us on everything, from facilitating our music to choosing the right linens and helping us plan our centerpieces, to making sure the hotel shuttle serviced all of our guests. Everything special that we ordered was taken care of. The guests raved about the food and the atmosphere, but the most raves were reserved for the wonderful staff who jumped in to help with whatever was needed and served us with a smile the entire evening. It was a night we will never forget. We loved every minute of it!

Ive performed several times at the Waterford in my capacity as a DJ for both Weddings and Corporate events. Ive found the Waterford to be one of the better venues in the area. Its high on my list of places I recommend to clients. Ive had very positive experiences with the staff there, in particular the Catering staff and especially Kevin, the Catering Manager, who has been both very helpful in the planning stages and very accomodating with our requests before and during events. On a more personal note, the food, when Ive had occasion to eat, has been very tasty! :D
