Christmastide at Gunston Hall is something you and your family dont want to miss! One day a year George and Anne Mason open their home for Christmas festivities for kids and adults alike. Be sure to stop by the kitchens for samples of some amazing colonial desserts and foods! And if that doesnt fill you up the bake sale certainly will. Theres even a "snowball "fight for the kids! The actors are superb and give you a wonderful educational experience without making you feel like youre in school. So grab the whole family and dont miss out on this wonderful Christmas experience

This is a nice, hidden gem of a historic house. When I visited, there didnt seem to be much foot traffic. The staff at the front desk was friendly. Because I was part of a group of one, I was able to get a one-on-one tour of the house and learn a little more about George Mason. Unfortunately, I didnt get a chance to see much of the grounds, though I hope to do that another time. I highly recommend it if you enjoy touring historic houses, or if you dont enjoy the crowds of places such as Mount Vernon.

Quiet side trip. House is very large for the time built and hearing history is so interesting. Have made 2 trips and enjoyed each time. Visit will take 1 to 2 hours, depending how much of a history buff you are. My grandkids have been here multiple times and had been here when their are activities for children and adults.

Gunston Hall was the home of George Mason. Located just south of George Washingtons Mt. Vernon. This place is much quieter, less touristy home of one of the Founding Father. The garden behind the house needs little clean up but overall very well taken care of house from 18th Century.

George Mason was an amazing founding father who flies under the radar because he opposed the constitution because he thought it would eventually lead to big government...A must visit if you like American history and a real under the radar place to spend an afternoon

I dont think Ive visited Gunston Hall and ever seen it busy. Its a really nice place to walk around and the view towards the river is very nice. Some may not notice but walk a bit towards the right from the house and youll come to a small cemetery and memorial.

Interesting place with lots of historical significance. Grounds are beautiful and the house is nicer than Mount Vernon though much smaller. My only issue is the heavy emphasis on slavery, as if it is the most important part of American history.

Если честно, ожидала большего. Клумб и лабиринтов, которые заявлены на фото, нет.

Wonderful trip through history! Gunston Hall has a beautiful interior with every attempt made to maintain the original 18th century appearance. I will definitely visit again soon!

Great tour, wonderful house, no crowds. Maybe we hit it just right but there were no crowds. Perhaps MT Vernon is the big draw in the area, but I liked Gunston Hall more.

I have friends that live in this area. I come all the down by the river a lot because a few of my friends live by River Dr.
