Great family friendly place! There is so much to do here. My favorite part was the mirror maze. It was stunningly beautiful, like an enchanted forrest in some places and a castle in others. I had so much fun getting lost and letting my toddler find his way through. The train ride was also great. The conductor was friendly and professional. He blew the whistle enough to please any kid and there was even a tunnel. The gift shop was expansive with plenty of rocks, toys, and gift ideas. Also it seemed that most fragile items were not in easy reach of toddlers which I appreciated. There are plenty of picnick benches, some of which have bbqs. They are a nice addition to well kept grounds and an educational nature trail. The nature trail has a lot of uphill so be warned. The educational part consists of some information about the sink hole and you have to get to the top of the hill to read it. The caverns are great. The tour takes you through about a mile of caverns and afterwards youll need to climb about 50 steps. The tour guides have good jokes and the colored lights entertain the kids. There is plenty of parking and they are rv friendly. Come make a day of it!

8-11-2008 - I am glad I did NOT listen to the negative reviews for there was NO single reference to any religion of any sort. The caves are pretty cool...takes about an hour start to finish. I took my family with 2 youngsters and enjoyed the tour. Beware, taking your stroller is a bit challenging, but can be done. There are ~60 steps to navigate...but worth it for an hour walk. So again, go enjoy a bit of nature and history and disregard the negative ratings based on religious fanaticism. I too would have been annoyed with any religion-pushing...perhaps they had a different tour guide, or such has been phased out...Cheers!

Staff was helpful and friendly! I had a little time to spare and stopped here on my way to meet others at the park. Told the staff I had to be somewhere at a certain time and was worried the tour would be too long. No worries, they arranged for someone to come and get me to ensure I would be out in time and he took me through the rest of the tour expeditiously! I didnt miss anything and I was able to make my meeting in time. Nice caverns, interesting facts and great little souvenir shop.

This was a pretty nice experience. The staff above ground was very helpful and willing to answer any questions we had. Our host Zach was not very personable. He had memorized the script and treated it as such. Most of what he said left the group looking around wondering what was said because he sped through so quickly. He attempted to joke about sharks and Rivers carving steps in Rock but it was all just confusing. This was interesting but could have been shortened by 30 mins

I took my family to see this cavern and wasnt as impressed as I thought I should be. It takes second seat to Luray. But, I have to say that if you want to see Anthodite formations, this is the place to see it. Unfortunately, they are covered by screens (Im sure for protection) and you cant get that perfect picture to take home. By the way, if you want to ride the little train or go into the mirror house, you have to buy your tickets in the cavern lobby.

The primary justification for visiting Skyline Caverns is to see the Anthodites, assuming that is important to you. They are quite interesting and there are limited opportunities to see them elsewhere. Otherwise, it is pretty much a waste of time and money, as there are relatively few really beautiful and interesting formations. Said another way, comparing Skyline Caverns to Luray Caverns is like comparing a can of Spam to filet mignon.

Skyline caverns is unique and fun cavern to visit. A very nice alternative to Luray Caverns, especially if your visit to Shenandoah is mostly in the northern parts of the park or you want to beat the really big crowds and super long lines. Skyline Caverns is very close to the northern entrance of Skyline Drive. If youre really into cavern tours then make sure to add this one to your list of places to check out.

Amazing caverns! This place is a must-see. I had a really good time here. The guide was knowledgeable and funny. The rest of the staff was very friendly. I also brought my 3 year old to the Enchanted Dragon Mirror Maze they have across from the caverns. It was so much fun! She loved it. It really does give a feeling of enchanted and I got the whole mirror maze adventure on video so I can treasure it forever.

Its smaller than some other caverns, but the tour is lovely. Inside, they have colored lighting setups to emphasize different intriguing natural features. There are a couple of natural rivers and small lakes. The tour guides provide a lot of really interesting information about the caverns - definitely listen up. The gift shop is MASSIVE and has a ton of awesome little goodies of all different kinds.

The staff is friendly and the tour was pretty good. I didnt feel as rushed as I did at Luray. Skyline isnt as cavernous as Luray but the experience at Skyline felt much more intimate. Especially since there are some passages that will smash your noggin if you dont squat down. The Anthodites were really cool! If I had to choose between Luray and Skyline... Id do them both!

Just visited this place today enroute to another destination. It was a VERY WELCOME surprise. Our tour guide was funny as heck and kept the tour moving. The group we were with were great and spirited. Ive always wanted to go to a cavern in the DC area so I was thrilled the whole time. I need not talk about the beauty and history ....but fo yourself a favor and go.

This was such a fun first time cavern experience. The tour is about an hour long and the tour guide we had was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. It was about 57 degrees in the cavern so plan ahead and bring a hoodie. The gift shop had a huge variety of stuff. It wasnt TOO expensive, just your typical touristy high price.

a mon avis le jeu de lumiere donne une autre dimension et vision de la caverne. Soyez sur de prendre une veste ou un leger manteau car il fait froid a linterieur.

This is a hidden gem. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The caverns are well kept and unique in the formations. They have a great gift shop, an area for the kids to play, and a hiking trail. It wasnt crowded the day we went and the tour guide really took his time to allow for pictures and for everyone to catch up.

I enjoyed the Skyline Caverns tour simply because it was less popular and crowded than the Luray Caverns. Sure, the Luray Caverns are more than 3 times as large as these caverns, but something about the coziness of Skyline Caverns really appealed to me. It was extremely fun with the small group size!

Excellent value for the money! Coupon is available on line Tip: bring your own sweater or sweatshirt cause it is cold (54 degrees). Gift shop is full of long sleeve shirts and sweatshirts for those who did not prepare. Saw more than one person spend more in clothing than they did in admission.
