Do not trust the advertised operating hours/days nor the excuses for closures. I checked the website and facebook on 23 Mar 2014 - the website clearly indicated that the park was open with a front page advertisement stating "JOYLAND IS OPEN, Joyland is open 2:00 PM - Saturday and Sunday". We drove approximately 2 hours and arrived just as the park was clearly advertising they would be open -- instead found a sign on the gate "Sorry - Closed due to weather" -- on a beautiful day with blue skies and no wind. Called the park and a recording stated they were closed due to low temperatures. It was approx 55F and the forecast indicated it would increase. Asked an employee, who was also under the impression they should open and had not been notified they would not open , and he could not explain it. To make it worse, they posted an announcement on Facebook at around 2:PM that they would not open that day. They decided to include a picture with the announcement in an attempt to show the "cold" temperatures. I also took pictures of the ridiculous sign vs actual weather (see posted pic). If you click on their picture of that day, you will see that they chose to post a picture from February instead of a picture from that gorgeous day. Bottom line - If you have to drive a good distance to get there, have a backup plan or choose another amusement park.

In a word this place is just...fine. Our kids had an absolute blast and I rode my fair share of rides as well. The Park was relatively clean and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. There were a good selection of rides for all age groups as well as general arcade type games. I particularly appreciated the cool misting system that ran all throughout the park. I am from Amarillo and while I do think Wonderland is a considerably better experience as far as general amusement park fun is concerned, there really is nothing really WRONG with Joyland. Save for one thing. I removed one star from this review because in my opinion as far as establishments like this are concerned, drinks and food are VASTLY overpriced. But other than that this is a fine place for a fun family outing.

my kids love this place. we go at least twice a year. sometimes more ! Its not expensive. Its about $14-$18 per person to ride all day. Depending on age. Plus they have a few water slides that we enjoy very much! Its only $5 if ur not riding rides. Where I live in Odessa, carnivals comes to town. They arent even half as big n a bracelet will cost u $30-$35 for six hours. sometimes they even charge to go in. Also d food is too expensive. So I think joyland is a great price n gets u out of town for a day or so. Bottom line we prefer joyland more than these expensive carnivals.

We went on 3-17-17 the park had a good croud there. The line to the concession stands did not move. I waited an hour for a drink. There was only one girl working the concession stand. I made a complaint with the concession manager and she said that everyone she had was helping in the front. There was no line in the front, the line of people were at the stands. I saw a woman pass out in front of the main conssesion stand. Our visit was good, but Joyland needs to have a little more consideration for their customers and their customers needs.

Rides are unsafe, have never met a worker who was not rude, and was charged $12 for a 18 month old baby who was UNDER the 30" charging policy. Rides are as if they are worked on only when they are completely broken. Employees are perpetually in a bad mood. Would recommend saving your money and going to an amusement park which not only values their customers but also their own policies as well.

Muy mal cobran $12 por un niño de un año y los juegos para niños como para el estaban cerrados y había demasiada gente que las filas para subir a los juegos eran larguísimas

Very pleased with prices and rides. We took our 4 and 7 year old and they enjoyed it! Although some of the rides feel kinda old and sketchy as an adult lol but we still had fun. The only thing I think would be better is opening earlier during the day. The restrooms could use an upgrade too.

Excellent place to work! Wonderful owners,bosses,supervisors,co-workers and mechanics!! Worked there for 2 seasons, miss it very much this 2016 season! Parents love that its big enough for their children yet not too big, letting parents feel secure& safe when letting their kids run around.

Small city amusement park. My kids enjoy going here. We rented a fenced in park area and set up horseshoes and bbqd. Comes with awning, bench tables, volleyball court up and lots of shade. Since Lubbock is 5 hours from an amusement park, its great to have a small substitute.

Worst experience ever! We had to get a manager for our daughter to get on rides. One of the workers threw a cup of water on me. The owner said I was lying, and refused to reprimand het! All that money to fight to get on rides and the manager was a jerk!

Ive loved this park ever since I was a little kid. Theres something very nastaolgic about it. Several rides have been renovated and they look nice! Wednesdays are $12 dollar general admission and no charge for fountain drinks! Had a blast!

Ive lived here 19 years and this place is the cheapest(not in a good way),only for little kid, but SOMEHOW a safe "amusement park" I dont know how Lubbock could expand so much without them building some more stuff for the community to do!

Great place to spend the day. My family had an awesome time. The only issue we had was trying to get in, there were six windows open and it still took us 20 min to pay. Overall it was a great time.
