Probably the best county park in the Houston area. Situate on the southwest banks of Lake Houston overlooking the spillway which leads to the more underdeveloped and natural Eisenhower park. Deussen has many picnic tables with BBQ pits and shared trash cans. There are also nearly two dozen covered pavilions. Some are available by reservation and a few are fist come first serve. All large pavilions (which vary in length and capacity) are equipped with electrical outlets and a water tap. Lots of paved trails great for jogging and youth cycling. There are also bike lanes on the major thoroughfares. Fishing is available all along the shore. Most of the shoreline is developed with bulkheads and adjacent boardwalks. There is a large pavilion over the water as well as floating docks and boat ramps great for all watercraft. The park no longer hosts a buffalo pen but it still has the duck pond full of a variety of ducks and geese as well as red-ear turtles. There is also a single male peacock with a harem of a half dozen females that can be found frequenting the pond and maintenance area. There is also a very large playground and a few smaller satellite playgrounds throughout the park. With all this park has theres no reason not to love it!

Huge place. Well kept. Offer plenty of covered space for social and family gatherings including BBQ stations to cook BBQ. Have multiple dog parks also with pools made just for the dogs and dog wash area to clean your pet once done. I have met many friendly people while taking my dogs to the dog park. Deussen park is also great for bicycling, jogging, playing volleyball and other sports. Also have exercise equipment available for public use. Eisenhower park is just around the corner as well where there are many nature trails and fishing spots. Lots of choices for an individual, family, adults and children.

We anticipated the opening of Deussen dog park since it was around 10 minutes from our house. We frequent dog parks all over the city, and this one falls short of expectations. The park holds water/mud in parts, and was constructed with a drainage ditch (thats fairly deep) that runs through the middle. Not sure the thinking, there, since it obviously didnt solve the drainage problems. We were also disappointed to see that there wasnt a dog pool (seems standard for new dog parks). Its a brand new park that, frankly, looks like some of the older, "weathered" parks around town.

I went here yesterday with a couple of friends and my husband and I must say this place was amazing!!!Its a great park to bbq , take your boat out in the lake and even jump in the water for a swim. Although in order to get in the water you must have a boat to be able to jump in since it is not allowed to do so near the shore area. The park was clean, and the picnic area even had outlets for you to plug in your radio or charge your phone etc. Even clean water is provided as well. It is not overly crowded, it was simply enjoyable!!!!

Great dog park. Decent agility equipment, now theres a new addition of a little pool. The only thing that absolutely drives me nuts is people bringing their children and allowing them to play on the agility equipment. The seesaw has been broken almost since they put it in. The heaviest dogs are usually not much over 100 lbs. Obese children are much heavier than that and the equipment is NOT made for kids, its made for dogs. KEEP YOUR CHILDREN OFF THE EQUIPMENT. THERE IS A LARGE CHILDRENS PARK HERE, USE THAT!

There are loads of covered pavilions, and playground structures here. I actually like the fact that they have red barrels set up for dumping you hot coals in after youre finished barbecuing. Theres also a big fenced in area to let your dogs run around with a bunch of things for them to play on as well. High police presence. I dont know if there were that many bad people here or not but I saw 3 of them pulling people over and 1 was at a pavilion with their lights on.

Love taking my grandson to the park on Saturday and Sunday mornings; however, last weekend, he needed to go to the bathroom and there was no toilet paper in any of the stalls. Unfortunately, you cannot tell a three year old to wait. There were several people at the park due to the nice weather; however, the park by no means holiday weekend busy and it was 11:30 am. Just very disappointed that the restrooms are not serviced better than this.

This park was recommended as an alternative to another park we had been planning to go to and Im so glad we went. It was quiet & peaceful (granted we were there on Tuesday but still). Beautiful views all around. Multiple jungle gyms for the kiddos spread throughout the park, some covered. Multiple covered pavilions and picnic tables. Definitely a great spot for a Girl Scout troop stopping for a picnic lunch while on an outing. ;)

Plenty of open spaces for the kids to play. A nice dog park with open space as well. Well maintained covered picnic tables for birthday parties. Places Can be reserved. Ive even seen people having a crawfish boil with a bounce house. Great view on Lake Houston, and fishing. Multiple playgrounds for kids, some small for the younger babies, and some larger. Beautiful park, plenty of bathrooms, and well kept.

Ive been going there since it was basically just 2 clearings on the side of the road. Its amazing at how much bigger it is now , its very clean and not over ran with mexicans until after 2pm. After thst its chocoal lighter fluid burning in the air and good old mariachi playing with a few that will lean against your truck. They definitely need a few more of these around houston..

We went for the first time yesterday. Took the two labs we are watching to the Dog Park. Large area great for running there is a concrete path with trash cans and 2 water fountains. Also there arelots of benchs for seating. There is also a bone pool and a dog washing area. The dogs really seem to love the cancel with water and mud. Everyone seems really nice here also.

This is a great space in the Northeast Houston area. Plenty of room and variety to utilize for outdoor recreation. The dog parks are great. Lake access gives everyone a good place to put in if they have a boat. It does get crowded at times so if youre looking for a completely peaceful retreat there are other venues, but otherwise this place is a Houston gem.
