Its a great adventure for the family with weekly family activities like reptile hunts, arts and crafts, and even 2 stocked catch and release tanks. The only down side about it is that you are out there with the wildlife that means alligators. Parents have to watch their small children at all times. I recommend researching an alligators sounds and tracks so you know what to look and listen for. They have walking trails and bathrooms. All entrances looks to be fairly wheelchair accessible. It has a very calm, relaxing, and beautiful surroundings and atmosphere.

This park gave my family the creeps! We saw an alligator as soon as we started hiking by the ponds. Its not the presence of wildlife that was concerning but the brush and trees blocking visibility to the wildlife. There wasnt a ranger presence that weve gotten use to. We looked up reviews after we were too spooked to keep hiking and sure enough, were not the only ones feeling this way.

Great place to go hiking and visit the tower WARNING: Beware of snakes and ticks also beware when using the restrooms because when I went there was 5 snakes in the toilets and ants everywhere and bugs in the sinks the restrooms are filthy somebody needs to do something about it and most of the restrooms are closed and no places to sit and no places to park they need to do something about it

Love going here for fishing when I only have a few hours. Not the best fishing... but it is so close to Houston. Good place to bring young kids. I know my dad brought me here when I was little and I still remember seeing the alligators. Make sure you lock your car and dont leave valuables. I left my truck unlocked ONE time on accident and got my CB radio stolen.

This park is beautiful, well-kept, and extremely informational. I didnt take advantage of the many education services the park offered, but I walked around with my camera for hours. Beautiful restored swamps and forests, and the best outdoor observation tower Ive ever seen. It even has an elevator! Bring bug spray and kill several hours immersed in nature

Nice hidden spot to enjoy nature & all its greenery. First time here, I saw all kinds of birds, wild rabbit, snake & a small alligator. The trails are kept clean and maintained and there also a few ponds with hundreds of water plants. The observation tower is about 5-6 stories high and def worth the walk.

One of the last FREE hidden gems and things to do in Houston. Very tall viewing tower with a great view of Sheldon Lake and much more. Sometimes you can catch a glimpse of the gators tho they dont like to be seen.

I love fishing here when the water permits. If you have anything of value in your vehicle make sure to take it out before launching the boat. Scum bag POSs love to break into peoples vehicles while they fish.

This is a great park to go and enjoy nature in so close to the city. The drive through from the entrance is very relaxing and all of the trails are well maintained and very walkable for just about anyone.

Always hated leaving my vehicle there, and my friends Brother got robbed while fishing near the dam. No Security in the area, and they know it is bad.

Nice place. But 5 pm is entirely too early to close. Does it stay open later during Spring/Summer/Fall when its daylight longer?
