Came in from the recommendation from a friend. I was immediately impressed with the layout, and immediately disappointed with the service. While the man helping was perfectly nice, he clearly knew nothing about fish. We picked what we wanted, 2 shrimp and 4 tetras, and headed home. One of the shrimp seemed to have problems on our way home. We got home and started the acclimation to the tank. By the time the fish were introduced, he was swimming funny and dead within a couple hours. Thinking this wasnt a problem, and it probably happened frequently, and surely they would just exchange it out, i brought it back and asked for a replacement. They immediately refused and offered no help, and essentially said that since they dont control the tank they cant guarantee anything. Offering anything would have been the right thing to do. While their displays are definitely nice and good to look at, i would not purchase a single thing from them until they learn customer service skills.

This is the worst place ever!!! First off, half of their fish are sick. The prices on their fish are out of control. For example: They had some parrot/flowerhorn cichlids that were priced at $34.99. When I went back the next week they were priced at $49.99. I asked them why the price increase and they told me it was a different group and shipping charges were more. Anyone could tell it was the same ones they have had!!! There is no loyalty at this store. Ive bought a lot of fish from them and spent hundreds of dollars. They always told me I could trade in my fish if it didnt work out. So I go in there and try to trade in my $150 flowerhorn and they said they didnt want it because it had a nip on its fin. Half of their fish there have nips on the fins!!! Also the mentality is they are always doing the customer a favor. So if you buy a fish there you should thank them because apparently they just made your life better!!! I am telling everyone to stay far away from this place!!!!

Really a hit or miss place at a pricey level. Walked in a few weeks ago & bought a few saltwater fish. Came back in Sunday and the place stunk to high heck with over half of the tanks in desperate need of a cleaning & marked NFS (not for sale) with a lot of sick fish. Frankly concerning to see this bad of a condition but is treatable & could be a totally different story if they get their act together over the next few weeks. Needless to say, nothing new was bought yesterday. I love their FW fish selections although things are still abit pricey, the fish are fairly well sized. My only disappointment is they dont really cater to the newbie aquarist with overpriced tanks, equipment, and decor. And the staff is not really interested in talking or giving advice. I do give kudos for maintaining a varied selection of chemicals, carrying sponge filters, and usually having a specialty animal for sale at any given time.

I used to like this place before it caught on fire and they remodeled it. I had about $95 worth of store credit that I was going to use last time I went there. The store credit was 3 years old and at the time they assured me that it will stay valid forever until I use it. Three years later I pay a visit to purchase some stuff and use my store credit. They pull my name up and sure enough $95 shows up as store credit but Christ the manager tells me they have changed policy and any store credit thats old gets deleted, so he proceeded and deleted my store credit, even tough it was still showing as valid. To me this is stealing and dishonesty. They are disgusting and will never have my business again. The quality of their live stock has also decreased. They do not feed their fish enough, stunting their growth. I will not recommend this place.

I have been coming to this store for years. I always thought that the prices where a little high. I have been trading fish in for credit for a while too and always felt that I get cheated in the trade in. A couple weeks ago I brought one fish in that was to big for my aquarium. They offered me $5.00. This fish cost me $15.00 maybe 3 yrs ago. And it was maybe an inch 1/2. The same fish was being sold for $14.99 and when I brought that up she stated that this fish would be sold for much. Well their rule has always been that they give you 1/3 of what they may be able to sell the fish for. I come back the next day and that fish that wasnt going to sell for much was being sold for $45.00. I think I will start and sell my fish from this point by other means. But, I no longer plan on coming to this store.

WORST SERVICE EVER!!! Whenever they have a turn over in their staff (about ever 6 mos) they just DON"T SHOW for their service!! The result normally is a dirty tank, but this time it had been about a month without serving the tank without ANY contact from the company and this time I have lost 10 Fish!!! I called to see why they had missed the last two services the guy that answered the phone said they were all out to lunch!! It took them over 4 Hours to call me back and the guy could not have cared any less that they had not done their job, that it had taken so long to call back or that I had 10 fish DIE for NO GOOD REASON!!! Then he asked ME to call Houston to discontinue my service with the company!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I would rate them LOWER than one star!!

Okay. So Im erasing my old 4 star rating to a 1 star. If you are not picky, if you dont mind your tank sloppily cleaned. If you dont mind a different person coming over each time, and you having to explain each time what you need them to do, then go right ahead and spend the money. Otherwise, its very hit or miss. I for one, dont think its worth it, and will be cleaning my own tanks from now on. I tried to explain to the service manager, and Paul the store manager, but I guess they are not interested. The service manager never called me back to see if they can correct their service peoples poor cleaning/servicing. Dont waste your money, learn to clean your own aquarium. Your fish will thank you for it.

I read the reviews on here before going, and was expecting what others had been writing. However, as a former tropical fish shop employee, I can verify that their prices are not what others make them out to be. Some items were more expensive than my former shop, and some less. On average, Id say spot on. Regarding the quality and variety they offer, I was pleased as well. I was expecting more livestock, but after talking to the manager, he said they were replacing the lights that week and purchased less than usual. All in all, I was there for about 30 minutes and asked several times if I had questions or could be helped in any way. Good to know there is a quality LFS in the area. Would recommend.

I have had several bad Pet Smart fish experiences of getting wrong information. Then, I bought an expensive fish and it began to attack my old fish. They refused to take the fish back and actually sent me to Fish Gallery. Fish Gallery took the fish and gave me store credit:O I have called them for information on taking care of my sick fish and found them extremely knowledgeable. Since then, they have guided me in starting a new tank and picking fish that work well together. I will never go to another store for fish, fish products, or information about fish. They are definitely the best in DFW!
