We recently had our wedding at The Allan House on July 3rd. From the moment we visited the Allan House last July, I knew this was the perfect place for our wedding. We only looked at 2 other places after we looked at The Allan House because I just knew it was perfect. We loved the fact that it was right downtown but you felt like you were miles away in the country. We wanted to be downtown so our guests from out of town could have many activities to keep them occupied while visiting Austin but we didnt want to have your typical "hotel" reception. It was the perfect location, with the perfect feel. Whitney was amazing to work with. She was always available for questions/answers and made me feel really comfortable with doing our venue outside in the hot summer months. The week of our wedding, the hurricane was heading towards Texas and was looking to rain all weekend. Whitney was helpful to accommodate our wedding for the potential downpour. She helped me coordinate with the other weddings that weekend and with Marquee Rentals. She calmed me down during that very stressful time. The only things that are downfalls about the Allan House are the number of events they hold per weekend and the number of hours you get the venue for. On our wedding weekend, they had 3 ceremonies, including one that was from 1-4pm on Saturday and ours was at 7. Now anyone planning a wedding knows that it takes A LOT of time to set up the venue. We had the Allan House starting at 4:30 and we barely had enough time to get everything set. Actually, there were things that my coordinator was still doing during the ceremony to get ready for the reception. My mom and bridesmaids also had to lend a hand to get everything set up even though we had a coordinator and other help. That was frustrating to me because I did NOT want anyone to have to do that. But all in all, it got done and looked great. Also, they charge an arm and a leg to rent an extra hour. We only had the venue for 7 hours (which was not enough to set up, party and take down) so we wanted to rent an extra hour. It was so expensive BUT worth it. I would recommend renting an extra hour to take some of the pressure off. My husband and I could not have picked a better place to get married. We have heard nothing but compliment after compliment on our wedding venue and we are so thankful we held our wedding at the Allan House. It was beautiful, elegant, simple, sophisticated...everything we ever wanted. Whitney was beyond amazing as well. We would recommend this site to EVERYONE looking for a classy, elegant venue just walks to all the hustle and bustle of downtown without the feel of downtown! Our wedding was perfect!

The people who run the house became extremely rude as soon as the contract was signed. We had initially planned our wedding for a Saturday, but switched to a Monday a few days later. They called two times to request more money for the Saturday, which we had canceled and they had given to another wedding. It took months to straighten out. On the day of the wedding, the staff acted as if our presence was an inconvenience. The upstairs room where the groom and groomsmen dress is not air-conditioned, so it was around 110 degrees up there. Right across the street is the county jail. There are air conditioners and generators that kicked on right as our ceremony started. They are extremely loud and it was hard to hear our minister. I blame myself for not noticing this on either of our three visits to the site, but the generators were never on when I was there. Parking is a major inconvenience, and the Alan House staff is absolutely no help. They act as if it is simply your problem. As we moved things onto the site on the day of our wedding, there was a construction crew working on the building and parked right where we needed to be. It took 30 minutes to get anyone to move. Our wedding was great despite the fact that it was held at The Alan House. I would suggest that every bride skip over this location and find another.

Where do I begin on how much I adore the venue and the staff at the Allan House?!? We were married there on October 23rd, 2010 and had an absolute blast! The venue was exactly what we were looking for and showed our guests how much we love Austin. A thunderstorm was brewing all day and did rain off and on throughout the afternoon. Of course, we were hoping that our decision not to rent a tent did not backfire on us. The report of the storm was scheduled to hit directly after our ceremony and through our scheduled dinner (which of course was supposed to be outside). Whitney and Becky (contact at Whole Foods- caterer) were incredibly comforting and immediately went into Plan B. Whitney commented on how calm we were with the storm coming and the answer is simple...it was her! We feel like we chose the best possible venue for us, and it was easy not to worry because we were in such great hands! The storm somehow missed us, which is still beyond me. Our guests were none the wiser that the food was never planned to be served upstairs because of how seamlessly Plan B was put in effect. We had a brilliant time and the feedback has been incredible. My favorite adjective so far is magical. I know that the Allan House created a magical atmosphere for us to eat, drink and be married!

We had our wedding at The Allan House last weekend, January 15 and it was absolutely perfect. The house and grounds are charming and beautiful! It was winter so the tent was up in the back, which was a perfect addition for the time of year. The house is so great, that we needed little decoration in the house. Additionally, the staff with the Allan House were so lovely and helpful throughout the whole process. With us doing the whole thing ourselves, we really relied on them to suggest vendors and services. We used Central Market Floral and I would 100% reccommend them to any bride. Donna did an amazing job on every floral aspect of the wedding! We also used El Arroyo catering for both the food and all service before, during and after the wedding. They were wonderful!

I got married at the Allan House on Jan 28th and could not have picked a better wedding venue. The house itself has a very classic victorian feel to it which makes it excellent for pictures. The courtyard was so gorgeous that it required minimal decorations. Although it was cold that day, the outdoor heated tent was perfect. All of the guest loved the venue as well (esp since it is so close to 6th street for an after party). The staff and management at the Allan House were great to work with. They were always very responsive to all the questions that we had. They were also very flexible with us which made the big day not as stressful. Natalie Kelly (the event sales manager) was a delight to work with. I could not have had such a perfect day without her help!
