Went to the museum 10/18 and am revising my review. The place is now clean, many of the broken exhibits and on-line items were fixed, the "restaurant" Subway was clean with friendly workers, nice employees So why three stars? 1, Price - VERY expensive compared to other much better museums Anything extra (Planetarium, etc) is extra. The IMAX shark film started well but was very repetitious, a tad preachy and so loud my ears hurt. Kids kept asking parents when it was time to leave. 2. Out of date. It had a 1950s vibe, the exhibits seemingly unchanged in decades. The computer systems had to be at least a decade old. The new exhibit (Sharks) was terrific but then theres the rest of the museum including the embarrassing "Dino" land with miniature dinosaurs seemingly for first graders. 3. Bad organization - huge blank spaces throughout (Solar System, for example) with exhibits that may or amy not work. The nano area conveyed nothing of smallness but was like playing with big legos. The climbing apparatus had nothing to do with science but was helpful for tiring out the kids. 4. The book store has no books. The employee said they didnt sell so it was now a "gift" shop if cheap plastic toys, stuffed animals, games and posters count as gifts. Guess I was used to incredible museums with gift stores that both entertain and inform. (When I went decades ago, the choice was the 10 cent or 25 cent dinosaur - LOL)

Seeing it for the first time, it was nice. My younger daughter enjoyed it. My teenager, didnt. The food service area could have been better. The Subway restaurant personal lacked enthusiasm in their jobs, thus it was a boring area. The Sea Monster Exhibit was nice but, the seating could have been better selected by staff as so not for the customer to be uncomfortable. The real negative was the announcer this past Sunday during closing time. The first announcement reminder of the closing time was 4 minutes til, when she said the museum would be closing in 5 minutes. I went to the restroom. My family went downstairs. While I was in the restroom, the announcement arrived that the museum was closed. As I was leaving the rest room and attempting to make my way to the exit, another announcement came..."It is 5:05pm. The Museum is closed and was closed 5 minutes ago." Hearing this statement, trying to get out of the building with the lights slightly dimmed, made it somewhat uncomfortable. The emergency doors were lit, but the main way out from an upper floor were not to easy. I had to ask directions from a maintenance person.

Where shall I start? First, it was expensive. Adult tickets should be cheaper than kids because there is nothing for adults to do. Second, Its LOUD! Crazy loud. Several electronic displays didnt work. The sports area didnt have the balls for the game. Checkers says "put on gloves" what gloves? None there. The 4-player game show display could not be heard because of the blaring thumping music in the background. Some items want more money to use them. There are flashing lights, loud music, wild colors. What child will be able to process all that and relax enough to actually read the displays to have any idea what they are doing when they explode the balls up into the air or block the water flow? None of them. All the kids were just running full speed from one knob to the next pull rope to the next button. There is no learning going on in that place. I regret driving to Nashville. paying all that money for 3 adults and 1 child, for 2.5 hours of screaming, flashing lights, and loud music. If you want cages and slides for your kids to romp around in, go to Fun Factory or Mcdonalds. Never again.

Dirty and crowded. I took my granddaughters, ages 6 and 2, to the ASC on Sunday, May 24. It was a beautiful day outside and Memorial Day weekend, but the place was still very busy. There were plenty of activities for both of their age levels and we had fun doing them, however, it is very dirty! There was dust and grime everywhere. We were fine when we walked in, but when we left I could barely breathe because my nose was so stopped up (my allergies are usually only pollen related) and my youngest granddaughters eyes were so red they looked like she had been punched in the face. She was also very stuffed up. Our hands were grimy as well. When you think about the number of people, especially children, who go through the center and the germs and dirt they carry, it boggles the mind. I wish I had thought of that before we went in. We will probably not go back based on this experience.

My sister and I recently took our 2 and 4 yr old children here while on vacation in Nashville. It was raining and they needed out of the hotel room, so we all went to Adventure Science Center. It was so awesome! It was like The Science Place in Dallas, which is where were from, only there was this awesome tower in the middle that the children LOVED! We spent two hours there but could have easily spent an entire day - we only left bc they were closing! My son enjoyed the interactive bulldozer in the toddler play area and we all enjoyed the puppet theatre! First, my sister and I acted out a little play and then the kids did one for us! I just wish we lived closer to Nashville so we could go back!!! P.S. To the parents with the more rambunctious children, the tower can take the children to a different floor of the building so keep a close watch!

Amazing! I have a 6 year old and a 19 month old. They love it. Also, if you are from a city who has a childrens science center that you are a member of (like we are a member of The Muse Knoxville) you can have a discount if not a free admission! The staff is very nice! They offer picnic tables out front and a subway inside which is very kind about letting you bring your own food and use their tables (this comes in handy on rainy days.) I did come into a situation where they had "reserved" signs on the tables, but they came to me without me asking and said "sit down its not a problem. :) They have many schools that visit so this may be different when you visit. Overall a great place for children and youth alike.

I remember this place being really amazing as a kid. Im not sure if i was easily impressed as a kid or if this place has really gone downhill. I was disappointed in the amount of exhibits. My son loved the jungle gym and the army parachute guys on the pulley ropes. Other than that, he wasnt real impressed. Theres only 1 dinosaur in the entire place, and its as old as the building. I thought the moon walking was cool, but again, most of the stuff was really old and worn out. Some things were even broken. The price for a child is bearable, but why charge an astronomical amount for adults when its actually for children. Call me when u get some new, fresh exhibits. Otherwise, u wont get my money again.
