Stopped by midweek, (theyre not open everyday). From what I was told only the ticket sales representative is there daily. They were very friendly, they have a hobby shop which wasnt officially open when I was there, but they opened it for me. The main emphasis and revenue generator seem to be the train rides they sponsor several times a year. Apparently theyre quite popular and sell out quickly. I wasnt there during a train ride time. I got an individual tour (given by the museums vice president) of the tracks where they have equipment stored. While none of it was open to go through (it either needs work or is an in use for the trips car - no educational/display cars yet) they do have an engine and some cars they plan on restoring and setting up as displays. The admission price (free) is right, its well worth the stop if you have any interest in trains or the TCRR

We took a Saturday afternoon to go explore the museum. We had been there with the kids during "Day Out With Thomas" and wanted to go back to visit when it wasnt so "commercialized." There is one room, with some photos, some model railway trains, and some larger antique railway pieces as well. That is it. We asked about any cars being open out in the yard, and were told to go out and see what was being worked on. Unfortunately, the only car being worked on, was full of "junk," and we couldnt get in. I would have rated this place one star, but the museums Librarian, was a very nice man, who explained a lot of the railways history. He was great with the kids, and very candid about the struggle in building more exhibits. I certainly hope they add some permanent full train exhibits, as well as building a larger, more modern interactive museum.

The museum works with what they have. I went on the, "Wine on the rails" to try something new. Upon arrival at the museum I had to fight for a parking space. You park on the street or wherever you can, there is no parking lot. But the museum had people directing traffic so that helped. The inside of the museum isnt a life changing event or somthing you will always treasure as a memory. As I mentioned earlier they work with what they have. The staff and train conductors are very friendly and add to a great ventage atmosphere. All in all, it was somthing new to try and the museum has potential if it had more funding.

We rode the train from Nashville to Monterey and loved the train ride but when we got to Monterey about lunch it was raining ( it was suppose to have vendors of all kinds but only 4-5 vendors were there a few snack vendors and the VFW was selling beans and cornbread No restaurant so the only place to hold up was in the museum or the family dollar store till you got the ride back 4 hour ride there with a 30 min museum walk through and a 4 hour ride back if you want to really relax thats the way to go Its not for small children!!

Got there about 9:15 a.m. and the museum was open, but the gate to the storage yard was locked. The person in the museum told me the volunteer who unlocks the gate does not show up at any specific time, but the gate is usually open around noon. If the museum website had stated that the access to view the equipment would not be open until noon, I would have adjusted my schedule accordingly. If you want to see the equipment, go in the afternoon. The museum itself is not that great, a couple of layouts and a few artifacts.

Awesome place to visit. Bring the kids for a train ride on x-mas or just to look through the trains and checkout their huge soon to be upgraded dcc ho layout and their n-scale as well. Nice hobby shop too with most layout supplies ans info. Friendly and inviting atmosphere too.

Road the Wine Train. Great trip. Very knowledgeable volunteer hosts make the trip a highlight of a trip to Nashville. When the museum is open very knowledgeable and friendly members provide a wealth of information about the equipment and local rail history.

Took the train to Del Monico winery. Ride was interesting. Seats are comfortable, but short on leg room. Snack bar has limited options, and they ran out of of hot food really quick. Workers are all friendly and love to talk about the train.

Probably would have missed this if my wife hadnt got it for me as a Christmas gift. We didnt get better part of a Saturday riding to a vineyard and back. Had lunch and wine at the vineyard and had a blast. Very fun and different outing!

1 room of artifacts which took about 20 min to go through. A fine stop if you are driving by but not much of a destination.

The museum is free of charge. If your an old Nashville native, you will love the old train track from the 1960s.
