i have only been a few times but each time with a different employee, they have the music so loud i can barely hear my partner speak. do they not know that even though they might like the choice of music playing, paying customers might not so why have it so loud? not everyone likes the same music so why have it at such a loud level each n every time? the employee on this day was one of the most unfriendly i have seen. the way he treated one customer i was in shock. i am surprised the customer just didnt walk out. i doubt the poor fella will come back after being treated like a child. i wont get into the story but the employees facial smurks and hesitation in his voice or really any way to help this customer i felt strongly enough to put a review. compare this employee on say any at Mr Ks and you will never set foot in this store i dont believe. but to each his own but the music sooo loud that i couldnt bare would b why i would tell my husband i will never go back.

Horizon has been my go-to source for music for many years. It was once a gem among soulless record store chains and it has survived while they have faded away. (Sometimes the good guys do win.) The store is great. You never know what oddity you may dig up in the discount bins plus they have the current popular stuff as well. The look and the feel of the place is great and they live up to it with their live shows, both in-store and at the café next door. Gene and the crew have always been helpful. In fact, they were my Pandora , before Pandora came to be. In short, a day with a trip to Horizon is a good day.

We bought 2 records from here for Christmas gifts. Even after the employee told us that if we "bought a new record it would probably not work." Pretty bad business idea there - in my opinion. We ended up buying a newer one anyways and an older record and when we went to go play them they both skipped like crazy. The other two LPs that were bought off of Amazon (one super old and one very very new) both played wonderfully on the turntable. We will not be back to Horizon again, except to return and get a refund.

Ive been to Horizon Records a couple of times and dont have any complaints thus far. Ive found most of the records Ive been looking for and I really enjoy the atmosphere. Its decorated nicely and sometimes I find records I didnt expect them to have. Ill be going back regularly. Its the best Ive been to so far and their prices (for what im into) are cheaper than other places Ive been, so thats a plus! I buy more new than used so I cant say much about their used section.

Ive gone to this record shop for years and bought countless titles from my CD and vinyl collection here. Everytime I come in here Im never greeted, the revolving lineup of crotchety old hipsters muster up unfriendly grimaces, and Im never given any kind of friendly farewell. I stopped for awhile because Earshot was a better alternative. They had much better prices and friendlier staff. Horizon is the only place I know that makes me happy mom and pop shops are dying.

Ive been buying records from Horizon since they were located in Morgan Manor (nearly 40 years ago). I travel a fair amount and visit record stores everywhere I go. Horizon remains the place where I return again and again. I always find something i want at a good price and I have developed a lot of friendships there over the years. Theres a reason they have survived so long when others havent.

Serving greater Greenville for almost 40 years, the best record store in the upstate and maybe one of the best in the whole region. Staff is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Gene has done more to promote independent music and the Greenville music scene than almost anyone else in Greenville.
