Watch the characters in Hamilton come to life in a beautiful setting! Valley Forge Park is a historical and recreational gem. Hike Mt. Misery (actually a better trail than Mt. Joy, although it has rocks, because it doesnt require crossing a highway). Visit the Cabin Shop for some shoo fly pie made by locals. See the statues in honor of the names youve heard or read about in Hamilton: Steuben, Lafayette, etc. Be sure to see the dogwoods in bloom around Mothers day, and the mountain laurel a bit later. You can bring dogs (on leash) or horses in designated trails. The huts are reproduction, as are the cannons, but the kids will love them. You can see the old railroad station, and Washingtons Headquarters, restored. The Chapel was built a bit later, but the carillon concerts on Wednesday nights in summer, with carilloners from around the world, are a gem. And the local astronomy club goes to the park for stargazing. Enjoy! 4 seasons a year (except in extreme snow and cold, but then youll feel like Washingtons soldiers did).

A great mix of a historical and recreational park. There are several ways to experience the park - by car, foot, bike, horseback, or trolley. The park has a phone line you can call in to get more information about the tour stops, a CD you can listen to, and kiosks all around that give more information. There is a bookstore and several bathrooms located throughout the park (Visitors Center, Varnums Picnic Area, Artillery Park, Washingtons Headquarters, and Yellow Springs trail to name a few). The 18 minute video is interesting and informative and plays every half hour in the theater above the visitors center. There are several trails throughout the park that are open to bikes, foot traffic, and/or horses. The carillon puts on a concert every Wednesday night in the summer and 3 20 minute shows on Sundays. Well worth a trip to learn about Washingtons stay at Valley Forge or just to get out and enjoy the grass with your family and/or pets.

The miles of rolling hills at Valley Forge not only offer a picturesque glimpse at history, they also offer a great place to exercise or relax. Like some of the Revolutionary War battlefields in Virginia, Valley Forge is a large open area with views for miles from all around. There are paths that meander all throughout the park, offering you the opportunity to walk or jog. At the main parking lot you can also rent bikes that can be used to travel around the park. Some of the highlights of Valley Forge that you don’t want to miss are: The paid trolley tour, the reenactments near the log cabins, and the visitors center. You’ll also want to make sure to make the walk down to the house where George Washington stayed when at Valley Forge. Valley Forge is a highly recommend stop if you’re looking for a place to learn about history, to workout, or to just chill with a loved one.

On July 4 this year, I visited the park with my daughter, son in law and 3 grandchildren. The park is beautiful, so clean and so well kept. There was a celebration picnic going on and all seemed to be having a great time. We took the 2 00 walking tour. The tour guide was wonderful and so knowledgeable about the history of the park. We visited Washingtons home and again, the employees were so knowledgeable and so eager to answer questions. We visited the trains station and it was so nice to walk around and not see signs saying "keep off the grass" or "do not touch". You expected us to treat this historic park with reverence and I believe all the visitors did. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I hope you will be open for us for many decades to come. thanks so very much. I will be back.

What is the importance of Valley Forge? Well, while not many people died from hypothermia or starvation, they did lose an overwhelming amount of people due to disease. Valley Forge is where the northern colonial forces learned how to come together and function as a cohesive military unit. Spend the $11 and take the trolley tour, which includes two stops where actors will give you a glimpse into what was going on back when Washington was keeping his eyes on Philadelphia. There is also a mobile business in the parking lot, where you can rent bikes. Valley Forge is encompassed by acres of green, which enhances your riding experience.

This place is so cool!! We only lived here for a short time but visited frequently. Theres a ton of parking in a bunch of different locations, monuments are unbelievably easy to access, its clean, peaceful, quiet and so full of gorgeous history!! The only thing I didnt like was how people tailgate while youre driving through. The speed limit is low and its a huge national historical park -- youd think tailgating wouldnt be a thing but it is. There were lots of places to take a secluded walk or sit on a bench and just enjoy the scenery around you. We loved it here and actually miss visiting!

I live in the vicinity; so I have had the opportunity to spend several evenings here. This is a wonderful place to visit especially if you are a history buff, what with the rich history this place reminds of about the American Independence. If you are a nature lover, you still have enough to love about this place; but do remember - this is not a national park; this is a national historical park. If you have your expectations set right, this place wont disappoint you. I enjoy my evening jogs around this park, and the occasional stops by the historical monuments were ready refreshers.

Big open field, a 5 mile bike/pedestrian path rings the entire park. Theres a lot of car traffic as well because youre allowed to come and go and they dont police the entrances. Getting to valley forge by public transportation is a pain, you have to take the 125 bus from Philly to get here, and only a few buses go directly to the visitor center. The other 125 bus only stops at the luxury apartment building complex 1/4 mile away and theres no sidewalk from there to the park; attempting to cross over via the highway is suicide.

Great for hours of hiking and biking on the Mt. Misery and Mt. Joy paths or out in the acres of fields dotted by the occasional historic site or statue. There is a visitors center, usually full of scouts, that has programs and a small exhibition about the park as a Revolutionary War theater of combat. Have seen some men dressed in period military costume giving tours. The chapel has a carillon which is played on Sundays. Behind the chapel is a cemetery. Its also a great place for a picnic or to fly a kite.

This place is a must visit place for those who lives in and around Philadelphia.It has real historical significance and importance.When you walk around the park, you could breath the patriotic air and feel like walking along with the souls of soldiers who dedicated their life for this land. Exploring more about the history of the Valley Forge would help to realize the real value of the place.Its not just a picnic spot but it holds something beyond the written history of Independence.

Valley Forge...the most significant encampment of the American Revolution. Although no battles were fought there, it was significant because it is there that through adversity, illness, lack of food and proper clothing; these men trained and learned how to be an Army. This was the significance of this 6 month occupation of Valley Forge. It is worth a stop to learn about the history of our country and the men that fought and died for our freedom.
