In the past I have had great experiences with the staff and management. Always had a excellent time. When I was planning a bachlorett party I thought of this place first. I called 10 days in advance to reserve a table. The party size was 13-17. I did not get a call back until the third time I called! I called first Wednesday, Monday, and Tuesday. I got a call back on Tuesday. I gave Victoria all my information, she said it would be no problem and told me that there would be a link on the website for the party to purchase tickets under the bachloretts name. She told me that the link will be up on Wednesday morning. It wasnt. Wednesday night, still no link. I called and did not get an answer or a return phone call. I called again Thursday. Still no answer and no phone call back. The party is Friday! I have women trying to buy tickets that cant. I have a business that isnt returning my phone calls. I was left hanging, not sure if reservations could be made. I left a message that I will need to find another place, please call etc. Still no call. I gave up and called another place and the manager took pity on me and I was able to get a reserved VIP table at Jones dance club. After finding another place last minute, I see that Barrel Room finally posted the link to the party. At 9pm the night before the party! I still did not receive a call even telling me that the link was finally posted or an apology for the stress. Its too late now, I already have a place booked. Its unfortunate because we were all really looking forward to the Barrel Room.

I really dig what theyve got going on here. The bar itself is cleverly set up with a solid thing that it offers. The servers and bartenders all seem lovely and there is plenty of room but not too large of a venue or too many seats to feel overwhelming. It maintains the intimate feeling. The bar itself I give a solid 3 star which in my book is a good rating. Now IF I could rate Drag Queen Brunch on its own itd have a 4 star for sure! These gals know their biz! They are seasoned and diverse entertainers offering something new to the Portland scene this summer and what a joy it is. For only 15$ you get a full old school dinner brunch and meet some lovely folks beforehand and then at noon you get a full evening show in the middle of the day! The cast is semi-rotating but the staples are veteran entertainers. Its nice to see classic drag, new age modern drag and some (without ruining the surprise) age old classic monologue theater! Lovely, just lovely darrrrrling. Auntie Mame says its a MUST SEE! Support our community and local bars with clever original events like these. Remember: Its drag, bring lots of $1s and $5s to share in all crevasses during performances!

Ive had good and bad nights here, but its my favorite place to dance downtown when Im in the mood for Top 40 mixed with some throwbacks. The DJs on Friday and Saturday nights are usually killing it. The fact that you can dance outside keeps the sweaty grossness to a minimum, and there are usually some great dancers scattered around. The crowd is mostly wasted 21 year olds, so if that bothers you, it wont be your thing. Cons: Pretty much the same cons as any other club. The crowd can be superficial and sloppy, you can get your stuff stolen if youre not careful (my friend lost her iphone), once the DJ played all techno/electronic (not my jam), sometimes there are some creeps in the crowd. But hey, club dirty and dixies are on the same block - if you arent having a good time, you can just run across the street. Also, dont bother with the jello shots. Waitresses walk around selling them for two bucks but I swear there is no alcohol in them...dont bother.

Had just about the worst night ever trying to go here. Waited 30 minutes to get in after being told that the entry fee was $15 for guys and $5 for girls. As soon as I got to the cashier to pay my cover charge he said that it would $20. Whatever. K. Ill pay it. After paying that. The friend that I was suppose to meet had gone right out side the gate to find me, so I went out side to find them (directly outside the gate, not 50 seconds after paying $20 for a cover AFTER BEING TOLD IT WAS GOING TO BE $20..) so as this awesome place with the most fabulous customer service would have it. We were forced back into line for re admission and apon waiting another 30 minutes we were told it was going to be an additional cover charge for reentry...

I agree with the person who said it was not a piano bar,The Barrel Room is a "drunken frat party" . I wish I had read more reviews before taking my daughter there for her 21st birthday. She had fun but the music was limited and the players didnt know several contemporary rock songs my son recommended. The mob was drunk and the business could care less about service. Oh, the food, which I understood they had some, was so raunchy. Biggest biggest mistake for a birthday celebration I ever made. If you are young, looking for a pick-up, get smashed, and dont care about the quality of music, the Barrel is fine. The Barrel just wants you drunk and wants to empty your wallet.

Not being someone that goes out on the town a whole lot, I had a ton of fun here. I avoid the dancing typically so being able to sit back and listen to some dueling pianos? My type of nights. Very good service (multiple times they have gone out of their way to make my night more enjoyable, everything from replacing a spilled drink free of charge to taking the time to recommend drinks to those who can never decide what they want) and a good selection of drinks.

Not exactly my cup o tea, mainly because I dont drink that much any more. I can see this place being more fun while drunk, but when sober, you kinda notice more than you should, being a bit more self-conscious than you should. They do have a very talented and diverse staff of folks running the piano bar, even being able to play some songs not on their list of known songs. I think I need to be a bit drunker next time to really enjoy this place more.

Talk about a place to let loose. Try one of the many odd drinks posted on the walls and youll be singing and dancing like everyone else there. The dualing pianos are fun, but its more like a frat house with the hot chicks singing and walking around the bar. Get there early if you want to sit at the few tables as this place gets packed on a Friday or Saterday night. Allways a good time with whomever your with.

The piano part is great, lots of high energy and fun. If you want your song request move to the front of the line too $20. The service is bad because they have only one waitress for half the room. We had to request our table get cleaned so we could make room to order more drinks. The drinks are pretty weak so be prepared. Get here early, by 11pm the outdoor dance floor was packed.
