Look, this is a Goth club, so if you aren’t into the Goth, Industrial, Punk or smoky bar scene, then maybe it’s not for you. However, if you are into any of the above you should really check it out. The Mercury is a private club so you must be a member or the guest of a member (ask around and I’ll bet you find a member you know) to get in. This place is a dark little haven for those of us who are not into the “normal” bar scene. The first Monday of every Month is Lucifer’s Lounge night (kind of a Goth swing and lounge type of night), Tuesdays are a great laid back night for the regulars (a great night to play a little pool), Wednesdays vary (there are industrial noise nights, geek gamer nights, etc), Thursdays tend to be another great night for regulars and Fridays and Saturdays are great for dancing, drinking and playing pool. Sundays are a nice mellow night, a great time to go with a few friends and just chill with a nice strong drink. I was at a loss the last few years for a place to go until I found the Merc. I feel so comfortable there and I’ve met some amazing people. As for the NocNoc, I see nothing wrong with it, but it’s too “see and be seen” for my taste. I want a bar where the people are there for a night out, not a meat market. To spite what some other reviewers here have said, the staff is awesome as long as you follow the rules and don’t screw with the other members and they are all paid ONLY through their tips. They are all volunteers and they do there best to make your night enjoyable. Don’t screw with them, don’t break the rules and tip (all common sense really) and they will give you great service.

Nice private venue, well priced strong drinks, cash only. It is a little clicky though, its advised that you make at least one friend right away, someone whos not too popular (because that might not be the person you want to know, FYI). It takes a while to make friends here unless youre a social butterfly; Ive been mocked for people-watching in a dance club by a member, but its something Ive been doing for years (observing my surroundings). I do what makes me happy, and they do what they do. There are strict rules here about respecting others space, and it provides a safe environment. Please do not hesitate to report any foul play to Security or the management, this way we can all help the club maintains its high standards.

Ive been a member here for years, and its my home away from home when Im on cap hill. I miss the brief, heavenly interlude when they allowed smoking pot indoors on certain nights (this lasted for a short time immediately following legalization here in WA; weed was no longer illegal but hadnt been subject to the precise level of legal circumscription and delineation that took hold as loopholes were closed and restrictions were defined); being a smoker of herbs and a dry alcoholic, that made my nights there more relaxed, even if the dancing was slightly less energetic.

The Mercury has been a part of my life every since I used to come and visit Seattle, when I was living in Reno and I have always loved coming here. It is a private club and there are all sorts of perks because of that fact--I have even had art shows here, love the spirit and the goth and industrial sensibilities--remember that the staff is volunteer--so remember to leave a good tip!

Hell yea I love the Mercury, no other place in Seattle I kin dance sexually and not be looked @ funny... I love it... I morphed from the old Vogue on over to the Mercury, to understand Gothic nature/ideals... its a freedom, free to be and act out your desires apart from the boring norm of society... I shall ever go to the Mercury unto my death bed/coffin.

Goth club with themed nights and strong drinks. Its a great place with a friendly, albeit dark, atmosphere. Theres a nice sized dance floor, two bars, and a back room with pool that is a bit quieter. Cash only! Everyone here is volunteer so make sure to tip well.

This venerable Seattle institution hasnt lost its touch. Pull out those black clothes, grab your membership card - or grab a member - and head on down for a night thats sure to be fun. Weekends are always terrific as are Tuesdays DIE night.

Wouldnt let one of our group in because he was wearing denim. While this is a club rule, it was part of a Halloween costume and was not posted on their costume party site, bad experience.

Best place to go if youre part of the goth scene in any way, even casually. Good music and people are friendly and watch out for each other. Members only on Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday
