It was my first time at the Analog Cafe & Theater. I arrived at 7:30 and got my first ticket after waiting in line for about an hour. There was nowhere to sit because there were 200 people just in the downstairs room. You know theres a problem when the talk of the ladies room is how bad the restaurant smells. We couldnt decide whether it was Parmesan cheese or bar puke we were smelling through the establishment. An employee on her break assured us it was the cheese fries. SMH. No amount of hunger would make me order a plate of vomit scented fries. Several people, including myself, commented on how distasteful and uncomfortable this bar was; their idea of fun is to debase their customers. Very aggressive bar and aggressive employees. To illustrate my point, after I posted my review of The Analog to Facebook, Donnie Rife, who I believe is the owner of The Analog, private messaged me on Facebook and calling me mentally ill and insulting me and my parents. Im not sure what kind of business owner goes around harassing unsatisfied patrons. A good business owner might reach out in concern and try to make things right, but not The Analog. It seems they are proud to be overly aggressive and a bunch of BULLIES.

The first thing I should say is that the food was pretty good. Not great, but certainly decent. However, we walked in to an almost empty restaurant/cafe/bar for a show that was supposed to be at 8 (it was pushed back...and now I know where I WONT be going to see bands any more, but that is for another story). The server was almost hostile in her rudeness. Having been a bartender and waiter, I am usually tolerant if I see somebody in the weeds. This person was simply not. To talk to customers the was she did, had it not been for the show, we would have left. The bottom line is that trying to be trendy, but only managing to come off as rude...not a wonder the place was so empty. I do know that we wont be going back.

Took my younger sister to an event for all ages featuring a YouTube celebrity called Social Repose. We were in a short line for a good 45 minutes and the security guard looked sketch, seemed to on something and couldnt tell me if it was cash only or how long the event was supposed to be much less anything else. The inside was kinda tacky and uncomfortable and the staff was just a little less than hospitable. The one nice thing about the place was that they managed to book this gig and it seemed to be fun for a lot of other teens like my sister.

Venue is OK for music, but the security staff are a $$ holes. Unreal how they treat decent people and Im a Doctor. Would not recommend anyone go here. They lost their liqour license once already for good reason. If I practiced medicine like they operated, I would have lost my license long ago and would never have gotten it back!

Came here with some friends and was surprised by the atmosphere and service. The food was amazing as well. Had the painted holds beef burger and loved it. The fries were epic and the burger was great. They have an awesome fry sauce that I loved which for me, says a lot. Cool place. Cant wait to come to a show here.

The staff are EXTREMELY nice about enforcing rules, and they really make you feel like a human being while youre there. The one guy who felt a little harsher actually approached me later and just mentioned that it was nothing personal and just that he had to be sure to follow the law. My experience was wonderful.

Portland needs more venues like Analog and Im glad it exists at the location in south east that it does. However, I found the sound at the main stage upstairs to be somewhat lacking. It sounded muddy and undefined. Im not sure if the sound guy is to blame or the equipment setup itself.

Show was pushed back without knowing incredibly over priced under poured drinks sound system was lack luster at best, event staff was incredibly rude, will not be returning, Ill take my business to the Hawthorne theater, no wonder Ive never heard of this place until now

The venue itself is pretty nice. Good sound system upstairs and the food downstairs was surprisingly good (although a bit expensive). I havent had the opportunity to visit when there was a lot of people so I cant speak for how it is when it gets busy.

Analog Cafe is one of the first places I came to visit in the Portland area. The food has always been amazing and the owner is hoot! They offer all ages shows, dance classes, and shows that entertain (Burlesque, Off Beat Belly....)

Was there last night and Andrew was the man! Bartended, cooked, served and cleaned. He did it efficiently, fast and always with a smile on his face. This guy needs a raise or something. Employee of the year!

Its hard to say if there are worse dives, but Anal log might be the winner. Frankly, there are much better food, drink, and music venues within walking distance to patronize.

Caleb, the bouncer punched me in the jaw. He is a violent and stupid person; he started it! The Analog Cafe reflects badly upon him. Boo on you both.

The upstairs venue is a great place to catch a show, and the food offerings are impressive. If you like getting close to the band, youll love it here.

The guy at the door asking for ID is totally elitist and a control freak...not a nice person. Im obviously over 50 and he would not let me in.

Great food, libations, and live music on two separate floors. A unique venue in the heart of the Hawthorne district.

Terrible. Bad service, surly staff, and an atmosphere that makes it clear, the customers are not a priority.

The stage is basically at floor level upstairs. People behind the front row can see only the front row god.

the band SYAM was fantastic last Saturday. Hopefully they will get to play paid gigs sometime, somewhere.

Decent enough space for a show, very broad and fun range of events and shows.
