This is a pretty darned good venue whatever youre seeing! I mainly go here for the concerts. Its crazy its loud, the acoustics, for an arena, are pretty darn good in my opinion. Maybe not so much so in the upper deck, but on the ground and first section of seats its spectacular. It can also hold an insanely large crowd. Other non music shows are incredible here as well, such as Cirque. It can provide an intimate setting when it needs to, and does a good job of it in my opinion. Even for graduations and sporting events, the seats are set up darn near perfect to be able to see everything. Not too slopped, could have a little more leg room, but nice none the same. It can get crazy hot in here for packed basketball games. The bleacher style seats on the floor level are a little rickety but comfortable. Those will be the only place you might have an issue seeing the action. The parking is free (bonus!) and they have will call at 2 of the 4 corners where you go in at, which can be a pain sometimes. And at intermissions, if you need to go outside, they normally have one doorway open for smokers.

I have attended a couple of events at the Schott and I have really enjoyed them. This particular time I bought floor seats for Trans Siberian Orchestra for my parents, my husband, our son, and myself. The handicap parking is kind of far for people who have mobility issues but arent confined to a wheelchair. However, there were seats available once inside the building before heading to our seats. After the show we waited in a long line for the elevator to take us up stairs but the person running the elevator offered us their seat, which was very kind. Once up stairs they allowed us to wait inside (even though we had already exited the building) while someone in our party went to get our vehicle and pick us up at the door. The show was fantastic and we had a wonderful time. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The only thing I would suggest is to make handicap parking available closer to the building, or, allow for people to drop others off at the door when arriving. I understand that this could cause some difficulty so it may not be possible but it would be very helpful.

I have been to The Schottenstein Center on numerous occasions for many events such as school graduations, concerts, and various other activities. The event itself can have an affect on your experience due to the rules set by promoter and The Schottenstein Center can not be held accountable for those decisions or for the actions of others attending an event. What you can expect when going to The Schottenstein Center is a large venue that is well planned, very easy to navigate, and has clean restrooms that are conveniently located. It is built without annoying obstructions so that any seat has an open view to all of the action. It contains many vendors for food, drinks, and merchandise. Parking is easily available, but is usually on a first come basis, so it can be limited depending on how many people show up to any given event. Excess parking is also available nearby and shuttle buses are available for most events. The Schottenstein Center is a great place to go see an event or hold one if you need a venue that can accommodate a large number of guests.

i have had season osu hockey tics from day one and i sit in section 122. we have the poorest ans laziest ushers of your group. between sections 121 and 122 there are kids down at the glass scuffling, jumping and distrubung, dont think that the head of your ushers will solve the problem as he was one of the worst and i see that you promoted him. in the past people have complained to me and now are not coming to the games. we are now considering dropping our tics for next year. when the patrons have to police the seating it is time to stay home. the ushers in sections 123 and 124 are outstanding. by the way what happened to your scoreboard. in the past we would SEE who scored the OSU goals and even the penalty sign was off in last nites 3rd period. Your speaker system is not the beat. You may wonder why people dont come look at your inert uisherings and score board operation. get ushers that can walk up and down the stairs and know how ro keep the aisles clear.

Ohio State really dropped the ball on this one. They wanted to have the only modern arena in Columbus...little did they know that Nationwide Arena would be built downtown only a few years later. This arena no longer serves a useful purpose. They host OSU basketball and mens ice hockey, and some concerts whenever Nationwide Arena is already booked or they negotiate a better deal. But it has to be the most simple, boring and quiet arenas in all of college basketball. There is not character to it. Just two large bowls, one lower and one upper. You can hear a pin drop during games. Hockey games usually only have a few people and even basketball struggles to draw crowds. They should have built an ice house for the hockey team and basketball arena for the hoops team. Id prefer that they just go back to playing at St. John Arena; that was a REAL basketball venue.

Went January 10th, to the rodeo. Bought row G seats 1, 2, 3. Only 4 rows from the arena up front at the chutes. The seats were very close, however we spent as much time up, as seated letting people in, and out. Missed half of the show. After missing so much of the show getting up, and down, letting people in, and out, ones in the middle had the wrong seats so we spent time out in the isle again. It was so annoying I doubt I would go back to the Schottenstein Center for an event. Each time a new portion of the show was to begin we had to get up and move to the isle again. Security was great~ Rodeo was great except for missing so much because of the HORRIBLE seating arrangement.

So I see that one of my favorite groups The Red Hot Chili Peppers is coming in June, awesome! Oh wait, there is no general admission, we actually pay $90 to sit in chairs on the floor? If youve seen the Peppers before, you dont sit in a chair and tap your foot like at a James Taylor concert!!! I hope for your sake this was the bands decision and not the venues because Im going to turn everyone I can away from going if they want General Admission tickets.

Remember to rate this venue on only things within its control, from the food, staff and physical structures and quality of the factors not pertaining to other guests. The performers and their management set nearly everything about the show, including the seating arrangement and prices. The Schott is an excellent place for a show. You have to make sure to find the good food stands and there really isnt a bad seat in the whole venue.
