Riverfront Park is the centerpiece of Wilmingtons Riverwalk, which was voted the best in the U.S. The USS North Carolina World War II battleship adds a unique touch to the typical colorful sunsets over the Cape Fear River. The fountain, up the steps in front of the historic federal courthouse, is a favorite of children and lovers and looks very nice when lighted at night (It also was featured in the intro to Andy Griffiths "Matlock" television show which was filmed in Wilmington). And, dont miss the giant venus flytrap sculpture, which was crafted by a local artist, purchased by the downtown "Residents of Old Wilmington" neighborhood association and donated to the city to recognize the surrounding 60+/- miles as the only place in the world where these carnivorous plants grow naturally. Riverfront Park is a great place to stroll after having a meal at one of many great restaurants, within easy walking distance, enjoy ice cream, or simply relax and ponder the history of this historic city, the sailing ships which once docked to engage in trade and the importance of the cargo loaded here. It has been said that the naval stores (pine tar, pitch and turpentine) which loaded from Wilmington was used for waterproofing wooden warships which enabled the creation of the British Empire...

Definitely a pocket park, but great jump off point for the Cape Fear River Walk, which heads off in both directions. Situated at the base of Market Street and Princess Street, its main attraction is the up-close and captivating view it provides of the Cape Fear, the bridge, the battleship North Carolina, and one of the busier sections of Wilmingtons downtown.

Its a Awesome place its very historical but yet they have a trolley boat to cross over to the battleship plus a carriage house and buggy for your of downtown then if u tired and want to walk u can a a free ride on the train trolley it stop every where u need to go just awesome

Great place to visit. Love eating at the George and walking along the River Walk. This area becomes a little questionable after dark but its a safe, fun place to visit during the day. The street vendors and musicians are upbeat, and happy to help you out.

Beautiful quaint downtown area in historic Wilmington. Great to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July, sit down and watch the boats on the river or wonder around the cute shops!!!

We love walking along the boardwalk, enjoying views of the river. The City of Wilmington puts serious effort into landscaping and beautifying the boardwalk with these mini-parks.
