I am a travel writer for National Park Planner and I was at Guilford Courthouse National Military Park in May, 2013. The Battle of Guilford Courthouse took place towards the end of the American Revolution. It was a British victory, but the Americans killed or wounded 25% of the Cornwallis army and they never could recover. British officials made comments like, "We cant afford another victory like that." The park consists of a Visitor Center that has an information booth, museum, animated map presentation, and a movie theater that shows a park film at the top of every hour. Plan to spend 1 hour at the Visitor Center. You can see the battlefield either by car or on foot. The Auto Tour has eight stops and takes about an hour to complete. You can also do a hike of the battlefield. Ive come up with a 3-mile hike that takes about 2 hours and gets you to all of the Auto Tour Stops except #4, plus monuments you cant see by car. Of course the Auto Tour has Stop 4 and a few monuments you cannot see on foot, so you really have to do both to see everything. However, the average tourist will be happy with one or the other, probably the Auto Tour for most. You can explore the Visitor Center, tour the battlefield by car and on foot in around 5 hours. There are no picnic facilities at the park, but there is a county park next door that you can have a lunch, plus the park is near shops and restaurants. For plenty of quality photos and complete information about the park, please visit National Park Planner (npplan).

Interesting, well-maintained historic park. The museum has displays and videos detailing the significance of the Battle at Guilford Courthouse to the Revolutionary War, and visitors can take a walking or driving tour of the battlefield that includes informative displays at intervals. The asphalt loop can be driven in a car, ridden on a bike, or walked. The Atlantic and Yadkin Rails to Trails greenway passes through the park, so anyone looking for a nice, scenic route to bike or walk/jog can connect with the greenway to get some more mileage. The asphalt loop also connects to the loop at Country Park for even more mileage and scenery including the Veterans Memorial, two small lakes with pedal boats and resident Canadian geese and ducks, a Bark Park for dogs, and playgrounds and picnic shelters.

The Guilford Courthouse National Military Park is the site of one of the "largest and most hotly contested" battles of southern campaign during the Revolutionary War. The park itself boast several trails for unfinished trails for hiking, biking and some paved paths around its (mostly) wooded 220 acres. If you love history, the outdoors, or both, youll love this park. There are lots of places to see around the park and the literature about the battles and battle fields is well made. The visitors center offers lots of information about the site and the history of the battles that took place. While the grounds are lovely, the exterior of the visitor center is a little outdated and could use a refresh.

Cool place to visit in Greensboro. It is a nice green space in midst of an urban setting. I like to walk my dog here. It seems to be a popular place with a lot of people running, riding bikes, etc. However, I have a few minor complaints about the place. First, there are almost no maps of the layout. I feel like you could easily get lost if you go down a path haha. Second, there are not as many trash cans as there should be. I hate having to walk around for a long time with a bag of dog poo in my hand. I think they could use a few more. Third, I do not think there are any drinking fountains (unless I am missing them? Maybe some by the bathroom?) Other than that, I think the park is well maintained.

Great trails. Fun place to run and take random turns through if you have the time. Also lots of historical markers throughout the park with information and a self guided walking tour via the visitor center. The paved loop around the park is a little less than 2 MI I think. Connects to Country Lake Park which backs into the Science Center and has a few playgrounds and paddle boating in the summer.

Beautiful and peaceful where lots of birds and animals live freely in their natural habitat. I bring my grandchildren and they learn about the history of the United States and the soldiers who fought and gave their lives for the freedom we all enjoy. I walk my dog daily thru the wooded trails and meet many other folks doing the same thing. One of the best parks I have been to!

Highly recommended the Visitors Center. The park rangers are experts. You can tell they love Revolutionary history. 30 minute video on the battle and many artifacts are available for viewing. Car/bike tour of battlefield available. Many trails and inspiring statues, would be a perfect running location!

Had a great time. Two of the park rangers have been there for an extended period of time and were a wealth of information about this very pivotal battle in the American Revolutionary War. I definitely recommend doing a battlefield walk. If youre in the military, its a great destination for a staff ride.

Perfect place to relax or exercise. You can visit the air conditioned museum that has a free movie in a small theater and a wonderful staff of park rangers/historians. Unique trinkets and gifts to buy. Lots of things on display from the actual battle. Trails with informative signs. Dog friendly park.

I lived less than a half mile from this park when I was young. Little has changed, but the park is still as amazing and full of history, as ever. We used to find musket balls there quite often. I hope they can keep funding the park well enough for other kids to enjoy for a long time.

One of the best parks in Greesboro, lots of historical interest scattered all around and easy to walk to. Nice for bikes, dogs, family and tourists. Good for recreational hot days in summer, lots of shady trails and connect to Country Park and Greensboro Science Center

National Park in the city of Greensboro that provides a history lesson, a place to walk, or just a quiet place to get away from things. The park is also connected to the Greensboro Country Park as well, providing a large network of walking and biking trails to explore.

History buffs and student groups alike will enjoy this park for its look into the Battle for Guilford. The visitors center will give you plenty check out. The battlefield is largely untouched by the suburban sprawl around it. Take a picnic lunch and make it a day.

This National Park is a great place to learn about a Revolutionary War battle that helped facilitate the conclusion of the war. Please watch my YouTube channel (Classroom Digital Tools) for an upcoming Travelogue regarding this important battlefield.

A great park for biking--or walking, though sites are some distance apart. As with most national parks, theres a friendly and knowledgeable staff. After closing time you can still walk and bike through the park, and without having to dodge cars.

Loved it! Went for a Cub Scout hike around the historic trails, watched reenactment movies in the Visitor Center, observed deer during our hike. Park was also hosting military event for past and present. Walk, ride, jog, and bike access.
