Extremely slow wait staff-from initial drink order, water refills, box/check, but food was fine. Hostess mopped off air vents during dinner service leaving my table and other patrons wondering what was going on. When I enquired, the hostess said her boss was coming in and they had to do that or she would get really mad if the condensation dripped onto the floor. The reason for the condensation as I was told, was they keep the garage doors open. Heres an idea- dont do that. Later, I spoke with the bartender who was apologetic about the service and said its a 50/50 issue -mop the vents while patrons are in the establishment or have customers upset because water drops on them-AGAIN dont open those doors. I was hoping for a better experience.

My review is for the bar/nightlife aspect of The Local, and not for the restaurant. I experienced an incident at The Local one night regarding perceived discrimination by a bouncer at The Local, which greatly upset me. I emailed The Local about the incident, and they were quick to get back to me and help remedy my situation. Because of managements response, I am updating my review of The Local from one star to three stars. While The Local is not my favorite venue in Boone, it does have good drinks and bartenders, and is in a good location. It is a fun place to go out to with friends on Thursday nights. I will have to try The Locals food at some point in order to give a more rounded review of The Local as a whole.

The food was good enough which is why I give it two stars over one. When I checked my bank statement though I was surprised to see I was charged a 100% tip. Thinking this was an honest mistake from the waiter confusing my 5 for an 11 (?), I went to clear up the issue. The manager was very understanding and promised a full refund. One week passed and no results. I went in a second time, again very apologetic, but after a while, still no results. Since this occurred over a month ago, I have met two others who have had this happen to them as well. Honest mistake?

We were fortunate enough to visit The Local twice during our weekend trip to Boone. The first day, they gladly opened the kitchen half an hour early for us. And the second day, they gladly served us and our pup on the patio although rainy and cold (after we had been turned down by another popular spot with a covered patio...) Not only was the service absolutely AMAZING, but the food and drinks were yummy, too! The Local is highly recommended, especially for travelers with dogs. These folks go above and beyond, and its much appreciated!

We r from the Raleigh/Durham area and sat at the bar as we typically do on 7/2/16. The two bartenders were very friendly and offered great service . We were debating between pizza and steak...my wife ordered the steak with mushroom sauce and I got the chicken with goat cheese sauce...and substituted squash for the brussel sprouts... just want to say that was some of the best cooked and tasting food we have ever ate..and we eat out frequently!! Thanks and looking forward to returning soon..

The food is without a doubt incredible, but... The big problem with The Local is whenever they are checking IDs at the door, some of the bouncers act like pompous pricks. I dont know exactly why, but especially on nights with a DJ, I and others have experienced direct condension and belittlment at the door. Management needs take decisive action and permanently remove hopefully fire the bouncer/ bouncers who are harassing their paying customers.

The atmosphere is nice and the night life is fun, however my friend and I ordered the pork nachos and didnt like it. We told the waitress that we didnt like the pork on the nachos and she disregarded it. Most restaurants would offer you something else but she just kept the plate in front of us and charged us for the food that we didnt eat. All in all, I find it a restaurant that is overpriced for average food without any drink specials.

Mother in law was visiting so we decided to try The Local for lunch. I ordered Sprite but what came back was seltzer water. Waitress tried again, same results. Within a few minutes she had it fixed and I had Sprite. She was so sweet! Had exceptional service! She checked on us often. Over all wonderful experience! The hostess was really sweet to! Will definitely be back again!!

The food has never let me down. The staff is super friendly. And the specials are just that, special. My favorite is probably the shrimp and grits, followed closely by the pork nachos. The environment is casual enough for a weeknight dinner, but upscale enough to entertain my out of town guests. Give it a try, youll probably like it.

Really? I order 2 meals. One fried chicken, one meatloaf. I order mashed potatoes for each and they have no mashed potatoes on Saturday night? At 6:30? Do you buy frozen and not peel your own? Are you kidding me? I give one star because no stars wont let me post. Actually just received my meals. Disgusting. What is the problem?

Ive always loved traveling to Boone, but the last time I visited I was horrified with the service at The Local. I would NOT recommend to even my worst enemy. The food was cold, the drinks were hot, it honestly couldve not been worse. I do recommend to go anywhere else in Boone. Not The Local, very disappointed unfortunately.

Just in town for the night. My wife and I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the drinks, the food, and the service. It was all great! Definitely recommend the Chicken Quarters, whatever sauce is on there was really good. Great job guys! (The Black Cat actually referred us over there because they were closing. Glad they did!)

We had a very large group. Most local places would not even accommodate us, with reservations two weeks prior. Not only did The Local welcome our group, they exceeded expectations in all areas... food, service, and beyond. Im glad competitors werent as accommodating and we came here... couldnt have asked for more.

We had a private event at The Local and it was fantastic. Alaina, Colton and their staff did a great job. The food was awesome and the service terrific. We could not be happier with the way the evening went. Weve eaten there many other times as well and it has always been great.

Very happy eating at The Local.. Beef tips were amazing and the burger and Cuban were as well.. Our waitress was friendly and taught us about the area as well.. All of the food was really fresh and cooked very well.. Great selection of beer too!

Elena and team are a class act. Very friendly, and recommendations were spot on, both for beer selection and menu items. The shrimp and grits is truly something special, and you dont have to pair with a white wine.

While the patio and our server were wonderful the food wasnt. I wouldnt recommend if you are looking for fresh and flavorful entrees, but maybe its an ok spot for a beer.

Cool but the male bartender is one of the least cool and least chill bartenders Ive had had an experience dealing with in Boone. Really brings down the whole vibe.
