Im going to have to dispute the review below. Adam, are you a righty? If the answer is yes, this story is total bs. The 8th hole at Black Mountain in NORTH CAROLINA is a par 3 with no houses on the right. A slice would still be in play on golf course property. If you are a lefty, that is more of a "banana ball" than a slice with an 8 iron in your hands. Next up, this Jim fella that lives on the course that moved in 10+ years ago, must have actually moved in 95 years ago since the course was built in 1929 and he moved in "5 years before the course was even built". Now if he actually bought the house himself, he had to be no younger than 18 years old when the purchase was made, making Jim a bare minimum of 113 years old. It’s amazing that Jim can even hear or see people in his yard. The Black Mountain PD should put a constant patrol watch on this mans house since he is currently one of the top 3 oldest people alive. The one part of the review I agree with is the part about it being a great place to drink a beer outdoors. What golf course isn’t? Black Mountain is a great golf course, with really low rates and player friendly layout. You should go check it out for yourself.

Simply the Worst club ever, the staff was rude and unhelpful and as far as the grounds the front was bald the back was covered with beer cans. on the 8th I sliced off the tee and it landed in some poor persons yard (only 20 feet from the cart path) I was unsure as to whether I should attempt to retrieve my ball when i say the no trespassing sign, the owner saw me and said to go ahead and thanks for not just foraging on his lawn, we had a chat. Nice fellow who has been living there for 10+ years, he said they have golfers trespassing daily and neither the golf course or the local PD will do anything to stop this. He said the worst part was golfers not just picking up their balls but continuing to look for freebies. when I asked the manager about this on my return he said "seems like he should move dont ya think". thats all well and good but the homeowner (Jim i think he said) had bought the house 5 years before the course went in. All in all it struck me as a backwoods municipal club with little to no redeeming qualities. Unless all your looking for is a day outside drinking beer...

Played May 2016 - twice. Visiting Asheville and picked this course as it was not too far from my hotel. The course is set in a valley of sorts and plays like a links course. Often you will find golfers crossing paths on your fairway. The staff was friendly. Saturday was busier than Sunday. The course requires risk management and strategic shots. The one interesting aspect of this course is that it has a Par 6 hole! It was my first time playing a Par 6 hole. The nearby town of Black Mountain is quaint. Overall enjoyed playing golf at this course. The greens are not very fast, but it may be due to the type of grass required for this area. Good time overall.

Black Mountain is a nice local golf course. I have played on it most of my life and have always enjoyed playing there. Currently I reside in Johnson City, TN. Ill drive down I -26 from time to time and still play Black Mtn. I also agree with B. Millers post. BMPD should not waiste their time patrolling for people just trying to retrieve their golf balls. There are no houses on the right on the 8th hole unless you are a Lefty and consider that being on the right. Lol. Brett Decker

Played 5/27/17 Great day of golf, fairways & greens in great shape, and only $40 on a holiday weekend . Have played here a few times now and it just keeps getting better, course is not tricked up very fair for higher handicaps but you will need to hit good shots to go low, will play again soon.

This course has improved dramatically in the past year. It is a beautiful course surrounded by mountains but was neglected in the past. Since the town took it back from a management company the improvements and maintenance are paying off. It is a fine golf course for the money.

It is a wonderful golf course, lots of challenging holes, & the staff is very well rounded & helpful . Adam not only are there not any houses on the right on number eight, but there arent any houses on the right on the front nine.

Great golf course nestled in the blue Ridge mountains. The 17 hole is a par 6, which you almost never see. The only thing missing is a driving range for warming up.

Pace of play is always bad. Pro shop employees tend to be rude. I never like to pay for golf and be treated like I owe something for being allowed to play there.

GREENs are soft and in great shape. Carts have club and ball cleaners. Can golf get any better? I submit it cant!

Greens are in great shape. Fairways decent. Tee boxes need quite a bit of attention.
