I am not sure why the reviews of the Asheville Museum of Science do not warn parents and the public that this is NOT an appropriate place to spend money to visit. The entire museum consists of a small gift shop, ONE room with a replica dinosaur skeleton, some play sand, a small jungle gym, a star map, and a hurricane simulator that you can choose to pay an additional amount to use. Then there is a table with crayons on it and a 20 min video on the eclipse. All this for $30 something dollars!? Please do NOT waste your money on a visit. I understand they are under construction. This is no excuse to charge a fee for one room with a few things thrown into it. The amount of money we paid for the kids to be finished with the entire museum in LITERALLY 12 minutes broke my heart. The museum is taking advantage of the ignorant who think they are paying to show their children a science museum. May the museum consider enacting a donation only policy until they are actually up and running??? Because at this point I wont even go back after they do open completely. The experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Tl;dr ************ Please skip the museum and spend your money elsewhere to see ONE room. Maybe go get some ice cream instead it will last longer than our entire trip to the science museum!

I understand charging for kids to play, but Adults shouldnt be charged when its totally focused for kids. Plus as parents we are having to explain everything as it is not visually aimed for kids. The materials to play with are extremely old. A Gem and mineral display case, which gives no interest to children as they are just displayed and no information given about them. there are 2 card tables set up with magnets from the 80s and a carton of crayons on the other with some pictures copied out of coloring books. A small McDonald like play land, one dinosaur to look at and some pvc pipes to play with and some old 80s blocks. My kids were completely bored after 5 minutes.

Went November 2016 and was disappointed by the lack of exhibits. They charged half price at the time, but even that seemed like too much. Our 5 year old did some projects in the back room with his mother while I tried to entertain our 1 year old. A room of rocks on display and another room that was just an open area with no formal exhibits was all we could find. We come from Orlando which has a proper science museum filled with exhibits on all types of phenomenom for all ages, and this just didnt compare. I hope they get it sorted out, but I fear they lack the space necessary to offer a proper science museum

Extremely small, one room has a small mineral display, the other room is basically a play room for 4-6 year olds. Some of the toys are not in good shape, a few broken, and nothing too exciting. Pretty lame to call this a science museum. Science playroom would be more appropriate. It would be okay if they charged a kids fee to come in and play, but charging for adults is a bit much for what they have.

Um, wow....do not go here until it is finished . None of the previous reviews noted that it is only 2 rooms , the are not even big rooms. If you live here this is probaby fine but if you are visiting this place is currently a waste of time and money. I am sure it will be great when finished but really cannot believe that they are open and charging people. Very disappointed.

It was still under construction when we went so prices were half off... Otherwise it would have been too expensive for the experience. Took our 2 1/2 year old twins and they were too young for the exhibits and activities. We saw other very bored parents of little ones so we think this would be better enjoyed by kids maybe 4 years old and older.

Although not branded as such, its really just a kids science expo. I guess its technically a museum, but not a very good one. Had a small room with some various rocks and minerals, and then some stuff for kids to do. Admission was $4, which is kind of pricey since it took under 10 minutes to see it all.

We came at Christmas and the museum wasnt finished. But my kids loved what was there! The rocks, the sound pipes, digging for dinosaur bones, the t-Rex, puzzles. And they had story time. Its gonna be pretty incredible once its finished, and we cant wait because we will definitely be back!

Was slightly surprised by small size of museum compared to their website impression. But realized quickly they are a start up and have big plans for growth. My 8yo had a great time and I enjoyed the scavenger hunt and STEM lab project we worked on. Very pleasant and knowledgeable staff.

Rocks and minerals from all around the local area and the world also from beyond this world. Very small section about outer space.Small fossil section with a full dinosaur fossil also has a nice little gift shop. GREAT place to take the kids for a couple of hours.

I am here right now actually and this is the biggest waste of money. The entire "museum" consists of 2 rooms. There is a small jungle gym in one corner and that is the only thing keeping the attention of my 9 year old. I could have gone to a park for free.

Lots of potential and geared toward kids. BUT, they are just getting opened and not all of the exhibits are finished. They did only charge half price for admission, so Id say its fair for about an hour. Great for kids, not so much for adults.

This is turning into a great little museum. I cant wait until it is finished. My 8 & 10 year old had a great time. Right now it is geared a bit more towards the 8 and younger. But it is still under construction.

We went during a soft opening and there frankly wasnt much to do. Staff was very friendly. Ifnthis place gets crowded, it could be a problem. Looking forward to seeing what else gets added.

Great museum to check out in downtown Asheville. Its still being completed but the geology / rocks section looks complete and is really interesting. Definitely worth a visit!

Genuinely has one exhibit... Should be free if they are letting people in at all... would not recommend unless you are only looking for kid entertainment

They are still under construction, so only 2 rooms are open, but there was something hands on for all ages. This place has great potential.

Mostly an over priced play ground. The mineral display was decent. And thats all thats here currently. Kinda want my money back.

Wonderful for 6 and 4 year old. Our kids were talking about this museum for weeks. Gem test was a hit as was Mars Rover.

Great affordable kids programs, excellent staff, a real gem of a museum and it looks like they are just getting started

I would give it more stars but we were there when it first opened and it was still adding attractions.
