Great little Zoo with great fun for little fun. Dont expect an elephant or a Bangle Tiger there, but you will see everything else. Kid can run a round safely. The feeding and patting section is great for toddlers. Washing facilities are right there. The restrooms are clean. Dont expect perfection. Expect to have a great time with your kids. Also keep an eye out for special events. Dont listen to other review about food choices; its a zoo and not a restaurant. There is a pick nick table area. You will spend there at least 2 hours if you do it right and take the time to enjoy.

This zoo is pretty small, but has enough to offer a child - from fish and reptiles to farm animals and even some safary animals (monkeys, jaguars etc). We spent about two hours there with our three year old, she liked everything. The pony ride was her favorite, but it is not free ($5 per ride) and is very short - they made two tiny circles and the whole ride lasted about a minute or two. We ended up purchasing several rides but that was OK since the admission was free.

Quelques animaux intéressant, mais il ny a pas du tout dentretien du zoo en général (vitre des cages très sale..). Dans les cages avec les animaux il y a des jouets et des ustensiles en plastique. WOW. NUL. Cf. Photo coin-coin en plastique

This place is all the way out in Sylmar, and is pretty small, but cool at the same time. You can easily see the entire grounds in 30 minutes, but the staff is very helpful and informative in making the experience more immersive. We had a close experience with the sloth, which I am happy we did. We were able to pet them, not hold them, but feed them and get up close. This is a great place to bring the kids if you are against, or dont want to go all the way to the zoo.

Small but excellent. Perfect for small children Awesome new endangered species carousel Petting Zoo is cozy and intimate, you can get very up close. Indoor and outdoor displays are renovated and kept current. Very impressive venomous snake collection *A different review states that parking can be a problem- this is only true if you attempt to park on Broadway. There is a very large parking lot on Clove Road which is absolutely never full, more than ample

I havent been to The Staten Island Zoo in probably 15 years. Last time I ever even drove past was 8 years ago before I moved to Texas, but I found myself up here for a sad family event and didnt want my son to only think of New York as a sad place to go. Admission was free because a lot of the areas were closed because they were setting up for the Spooktacular event that was happening the following night. He still had a blast.

A very cute zoo. Granted its not the Bronx Zoo, but your also not walking around for 7 hours, spending a lot of money trying to see everything. Our 15month loved the aquarium, and the reptile room before falling asleep near the horses and kids korner. Anyone coming here with high expectations, maybe disappointed, but if your coming to spend a day with your kids and not be over exhausted yourself, this is the zoo for you.

Cozy attraction with lots of animals. Rain forest, savanna, petting zoo, lots of snakes eating mice. Clean bathrooms. Amur leopard in outside exhibit, spider monkeys, small monkeys, lemurs and foxes, eagles, owls, porcupines, servals, ostriches, pigs, and giant rodents. 50¢ will get you food pellets to feed the sheep, goats, ducks. Carousel ride. And works worst weather predicting goundhog...Sorry Chuck!!

Nice well maintained zoo for kids . Its not like typical zoo but worth at least one visit with your little ones. Went there with my daughter in a school field trip. She literally had so much fun. I would say they have everything in such a small place. Reptiles, tropical Forest animals, African animals you just named it. Also you can have a close encounter with leopard. Must visit you will not disappoint.

If you are non-white tourist, the ticket lady will make sure that you pay by cash. When we wanted to purchase tickets, she punched in the amount in the card machine and immediately pressed cancel. She did that 8 times pretending that the card is not being processed. I paid cash after an argument. The zoo itself houses very limited number of animals. Not worth the humiliation, time, effort and cost.

Small zoo for a small borough. It cant compare to the central park zoo, but it does the job. The childrens play area is a big plus. Reptile collection is small, while aquatic collection is also lacking. But this is expected from a zoo of this size. Parking can be a problem and food services is OK. Entrance fee is cheap. Overall experience is wonderful and your kids will enjoy their time.

Ein kleiner netter Zoo mitten drin im Trubel Staten Islands. Man kommt den zahlreichen Tieren sehr nah, viel näher als in Deutschland. Für meine Begriffe durchaus empfehlenswert.

I have been going to this zoo since I was little now I take my son here we LOVE IT. Its the perfect size, we see everything, have a great time feeding the animals, learning about them and just making wonderful memories. I believe it is the treasure of Staten Island, we are lucky to have it! Its not expensive, its beautiful all year round.

I brought my daughter here a couple of times, and it was pretty fun. There isnt a huge selection of animals, but there is enough to keep young kids interested. The petting zoo was great. The cost was reasonable given the quality of the entertainment. Also, this place didnt feel depressing the way that some zoos do.

Very good petting zoo. Friendly, knowledgable staff. However, the main part of the zoo is very small, and aside from fish and reptiles there are hardly any animals. There should be more monkeys and other smaller animals in this tiny zoo.The $8 admission charge for an adult is too much considering what you get for it.

The perfect zoo for small children. You can easily cover the whole thing in an hour- maybe 2 if you spend extra time at the petting zoos and pony rides. We always have a great time. Make sure you bring a camera to get lots of pictures of one of the many friendly peacocks that roam the grounds.

The Staten Island Zoo is a cute little zoo home to many different types of animals and reptiles as well as Staten Island Pete who, as we all know, is the better groundhog when it comes to telling the weather. Ive been going there since I was a child and it never disappoints.

This is probably the best of all NYC zoos. Very nice grounds well kept place, very friendly staff lots of animals mostly snacks, Also dont miss the white tent animal exhibits and the "Africa" an attraction that alone is worth the visit. The kids "love" the petting zoo.

I have not been here in awhile but the Staten Island Zoo is worth a look if you live on the island and do not want to commute into the city for Central Park Zoo or go all the way to the Bronx for Bronx Zoo. This zoo is perfectly fine. Great if you have small children.
