The park is beautiful and peaceful. Im a resident of the area and I love taking strolls around. But today, actually 10 minutes ago I had a confrontation with a park worker. Very rude, mean, and disrespectful. The city had the main street Center Blvd closed for construction and what not. So us residents needed to walk through the park to get around the closed section of the street. The park does not allow dogs go through. I have a dog and I had to walk him. My building told me it would be fine for now to go through and to let anyone who stops me know that the street is closed and I HAD to go through. So going out went fine. Then coming back home, before entering the park I asked one of the construction workers if I could go home through the main street so I wouldnt have to go through the park. But they told me I couldnt and I had to go around. So I did. Then a park worker in the parks pick up truck sped and braked right next to me, it scarred me to death! From within the car started yelling at me I couldnt go through with the dog and had to leave this instance. He didnt have the decency to put his window down and nicely tell me so. I was trying to be civil by telling him I had no other way of getting home, that I could carry my dog home, to please pull down his window so we could talk, and that I had already asked the construction worker if I could go through the main street so I wouldnt go through the park. The park worker was yelling, wouldnt pull his window down to talk decently, he would not reason or try to understand! He treated me horribly and told me he would get the cops on me and cursed me out!! The park shouldve understood the situation that I was in since everybody has dogs and I saw plenty going through the park and not one word was said to them. He then left, sped away, and who knows what will happen next? This was absurd. Horrible experience. The park needs much more decent and civil people working there. But all in all I do love the park, not the workers. Just so you all know what he looks like. Hes latino, dark skinned, and had a gold tooth.

One of the absolute best parks in New York City. Newly renovated and includes a waterfront boardwalk with views of the entire Manhattan Skyline. The park is well maintained and varied: there is are several playgrounds, a large lawn to play frisbee or badminton and have picnics, a garden area with roses and weeping willow trees, as well as a section with hammocks and reclining wooden chairs that face the east river. There is also the famous Pepsi Sign that is lit up at night and can be seen as you drive over the Queensborough Bridge. It actually looks quite impressive up close. There is also an old dock area that says "Long Island" which is an interesting addition. The park is opposite a school and a group of nice, new residential sky scrapers. It is one of the most beautiful places in New York City and Queens.

One of the best parks around NYC. Along the Queens waterfront and across from midtown manhattan. Its one of the best skyline views in town. Also of the Queensboro bridge. Even the iconic Pepsi sign stands here. Ample space with lots of benches to relax and view the skyline and greenspace to sit down in the summer. Youll find the local kayak boathouse here as well and on summer weekends youll get free kayaking on the east river. Lots of new condos along the stretch and a great queens flea nearby for great eats, a beer garden, and shopping. One of those parks you can just relax and enjoy NYC.

I went on a photo tour on this site and couldnt believe the lack of photos of the beautiful park. Mostly views of Manhattan. Manhattan views are always beautiful, but omitting photos of the park interiors itself seems odd. If I hadnt been there and experienced the wildflower gardens, secluded grottos, lawn chairs hidden in the beach grass, dog park, playground, trees for shading on the greenest of lawns, the winds blowing from the river. Your photo montage suggests people who want a view of Manhattan could go to Gantry Park, see the view, go ahhhh and go home.

Amazing waterfront park with vast amounts of amenities. Its a little odd because its technically two separate parks (one is managed by the state... the other by the city... dont ask). There are at least four dog parks within the vicinity. There is a huge astro turf area for people to relax or play sports on. There are many childrens playground around the park (at least 2) and there is an outdoor cross fit workout area as well as basketball courts. There are several restaurants in the area as well that offer outdoor eating/hanging areas. Views to die for.

This review is for the playground, not the entire park. Heres the thing, yes, the views are incredible. Wonderful location, no doubt. And cool, new age playground equipment. All great positives. But heres the catch: no toddler swings. How can a state of the art playground in the 21st century not have a high stock of toddler swings? Also, as of summer 2015, the water feature is busted and the signs that were posted said it would be fixed; but, alas, it never was. Anyway, this place is a family destination. The playground is still a lot of fun.

Gantry State Plaza Park is by far one of the best parks Ive been to. The area is not as congested as the city can be. My favorite spot is at the broad wood benches by the water. I usually sit back and close my eyes to enjoy the calming sound of the water. Its so easy to feel at ease here because the landscape is so serene(when I come here, at least). Its also a great place to have long, meaningful conversation with friends. Its so relaxing at night and youre so darn lucky if you manage to snag a spot by the water in the summer.

Nice waterfront park in Queens offering spectacular views of midtown Manhattans dense skyline. Three iconic buildings - Chrysler, Empire State, and the UN Headquarters - are all on display. Its not a tourist trap (at least not yet) so those looking for some peace and quiet while enjoying views of the city will find this place ideal. Come between early morning and noon for the best photos, especially on a clear sunny day. For restrooms, head to the ferry terminal nearby. It is a few blocks from the subway.

I really love Gantry Plaza State park. It is very peaceful and it has amazing views. There a lot of near by restaurants. If you have kids they have a big playground area and if you just simply want to take nice shots then theres the Coca Cola sign and you can catch amazing sunsets. The views are really amazing. You can catch the Ferry and head to North Williamsburg or 34 st. It really is a nice place to spend time with the family and friends.
