"Resort" ??? Not in my book. I recently stayed there for a wedding reception on a Saturday night. The staff was hardly present, and they were not prepared to keep their guests safe with the impending weather. Not only did it pour rain that afternoon for guests of 2 wedding receptions that evening, but it later snowed about 6 inches! The "resort" did not have valet parking service, so we were soaked before the reception. The parking is quite a far distance from the outdoor, rustic lodging. There are only outdoor paths to get to and from your room and the lodge (reception area). There is no other way to get back and forth! No one had umbrellas, and when it snowed, NOT ONE STAFF MEMBER SHOVELED or salted these hilly outdoor paths! The paths and stairs within and between the outdoor rooms were thick with snow, making for a dangerous path back to your room! People in formal attire slipped and fell everywhere! The parking lot was not plowed at all that evening for guests leaving. The lodge was completely locked throughout the evening, so staff was unavailable for the needs of the guests! The rooms are rustic, but the mattresses are old and squeaky. Our thermostat got stuck in our room, so it was like a sauna all night. The walls are paper thin, so we heard everyone throughout the evening. In the morning, when the lot was finally plowed, all of the guests vehicles were "snowed into" their spots, and forced to shovel themselves out! Staff service was horrible at this "resort," and they definitely did not cater to, or even help, their guests. I was not impressed at all.

I have been coming to Canandaigua NY for over 40 years and during each stay, I typically visit the BH Lodge. On this visit, I took my son with me to hit a couple buckets of balls on the driving range. When we arrived at the lodge, we walked into the room which has always been the pro shop for as long as I can remember. What we saw was a little Euro style cafe and coffee bar with some various golf items laying on a couple of tables. Nothing about this cutesy cafe had any relationship to a pro shop, and thinking we were in the wrong place, my son and I started to walk out. We ran into an employee coming into the cafe who only said hello to us and kept walking. I asked him if he could tell us where the pro shop was, and he said , "Were in it". Interesting. He seemed less than happy to be working in the new digs and new arrangement. To be quite honest, it did feel odd - like the beautiful golf club (and the course really is very nice with spectacular views of the lake mountains) and the staff who man the proshop were taking second fiddle to a coffee bar. We were there when the cafe was closed, but I cant imagine how these two different worlds would coexist during a busy part of the day - especially with what appeared to be only only one register. Not saying I disliked the new look, but Im not saying I liked it either - Im just not sure it fits and it feels like it lacks an identity. I couldnt even get an espresso drink.....

We live down the hill from The Lodge and have eaten there many times. By far the big attraction is the view. Seating extends to a large outdoor covered patio (heated when needed), which overlooks the hill down to the lake. The hillside itself has two wedding portals, and they are booked solid throughout the season. We have often been entertained by someone elses wedding or reception. On the hillside are numerous Adirondack chairs and a fire pit. Theres nothing quite like taking a drink out there and just talking and staring at the spectacular wooded view down to the lake, and across the lake to the wooded hills on the other side. One friend (who knows) compares it to a typical Scottish experience. The restaurant itself is a pleasing combination of Adirondack-style informality and a certain level of sophistication in the menu. You can get anything from pizza at the bar, to grille-type items, to fancy entrees. We have found variations in the quality of the fancier food. The grille items and pizza are always good. Service is usually good to exceptional, with an occasional falloff. Overall, 4 stars.

My husband and I just returned from a weekend at the Bristol Harbor Lodge and we had an awesome time. It was so much more than advertised. The personal were some of the nicest that we have ever encountered and we are in are 70s. They were aware of our ages and showed such discreet care of our special needs. I really appreciated that! I had searched for nearby restaurants, but after lunching at the Lodge,we knew that we needed to go no further and ate our meals there. They were all exemplary. The rooms were wonderful and the view from our veranda was spectacular. But, I reiterate....it was the people who work there that made it a truly wonderful experience. Thank you Bristol Harbor.

My family and another family stayed in the cottages,at the Resort, and were very pleased with our stay. The Cottage was clean and well maintained and we had an exceptional view to look at all day! We were on the bottom floor so at times it could get a little noisy when the people upstairs were there as the hardwood floors do not buffer many sounds. Despite this we were exceptionally happy with our stay at this beautiful resort. Everyone was so friendly and helpful from the front desk staff, to the golf shop to the restaurant. Have given brochure to several people looking for somewhere different to go on vacation. Would definitely come up to visit again!!! Thanks!

5 stars for the view. 4 stars for the food. 3.5 stars for the service. View was incredible, and me and my wife lived it. We were seated very quickly whuch was nice(we did have a reservation). The wait for the food was long. We waited almost 20 mins for the complementary bread, which is typically brought out right away. Our server was nice, but would go ling periods without seeing him. The food was good. Not mind blowing or anything, but good nonetheless. Even though we waited long for food it was OK. The view and conversations I had with my wife were worth it. I would highly recommend this place.

Located on a hill with an open view overlooking the south end of the lake is reason alone to make a visit. The dining areas are charming and inviting. The outdoor eating area is covered and provides the best view of the lake. The spacious grounds and adjoining hall and patio is frequently occupied by weddings, but not a bother. The cuisine will not disappoint. The menu offers a reasonable price point for a casual dinner along with selections for fine dining at higher price points. The menu is not extensive, but it covers all the main dishes you would expect. It is on my list for return visits.

Bristol Harbour has long been known as a golf resort and for its incredible views of Canandaigua Lake. They have recently expanded and added a new conference and banquet facility that will easily seat 300 people and the views are awesome. We recently held our annual awards luncheon there and were impressed with the quality of the food and the service as well as the banquet room itself. This is a great place for corporate meetings, events, weddings, family reunions. Lots to see and do locally and a very central location in the Finger Lakes.
