Besides that Van Saun Park has so many different things to do for people of all ages, it has always been my "zen" place. Yes, Ive been to the kiddie section many times with my nephews & niece; played on the swings, slides, many educational, hand-eye coordination based "rides", the carousel, even the train ride in the zoo & always have fun when there. However, there are sections where people can barbeque & have occasions there & also has a section where people can go horseback riding too! Theres a tennis court, a baseball field...just so much there to do. But, like I stated in the beginning, my favorite section is the section where the walking path is around the lake. I frequent there to write, draw, read, walk around the lake for some exercise, place my beach chair on the grass & take the sun & listen to music, or just sit there & enjoy nature surrounding me. I do some of my best thinking there most of the time because Ive been going there for years & it has just become my "zen" place. Now, as much as I love it, there is one down side (at least it is for me anyway), the ducks can be quite annoying by coming up to you constantly & they poop all over the place...the walking path, the grass, etc... So, thats the only down side I can think of. Otherwise, go by yourself, with your significant other, or your family, & youll definitely have a fun or relaxing time; whatever you choose! Enjoy!

I wish this place was better, but it was a very big disappointment. My mother had wanted to go for over a year with her grandkids, and I finally had the stars align and we made the trip. The prices would have been ok if it werent for HALF of the exhibits being closed. They have a posted list of closed exhibits when you enter (maybe 6?), but there are much much more empty ones once you are inside. What can you expect? A cow, a pig, a pony, 3 monkeys, a few capybarras, an ostrich, 3 bald eagles, a bobcat, and maybe 3 more birds or small mammals. The reason its 3 star and not a 1 star is the train. They have a steam train(Its electric I think) that is very reasonable to ride, and it takes you around the entire park. The kids loved this the most. So I WOULD visit here again just for the train and carousel. I feel that the zoo should be suggested donation for the quantity of exhibits.

We had our wedding photos taken here because its that nice. In the winter they open up a winter wonderland with ice skating, heated tents with food, hot chocolate, a beer and wine garden and holiday train rides. The animals are seemingly well cared for.... Clean, safe, great for the family or for a date. Picnic areas all over.... pony rides... carousel.. large, safe playground areas.... gift shop... affordable admission, more so for Bergen county residents. They always have events happening that are great for all ages... no place to eat here though other than a hot dog truck sometimes open near the entrance which is disappointing if youre vegetarian. A staple of Bergen county living. Go enjoy it.

Paramus mini zoo great for all families. Just be prepared to wait on line and do some much needed walking for the waistline so wear your most comfortable sneakers or shoes. The line there can be HORRIBLE but if youre that person with extra patience, you will make it in to have a good time with the kids. Parking lot at peak times (the weekends or weekend holidays) is absolute madness. My honest tip if you really want to come here is to come super early at opening or on a weekday when others are working. Anything after 11 am youre on your own. The surrounding park is very beautiful so if you cant get in, the day is not totally wasted.

We have our family outing every year at this park and its always a great time. The park is big, plenty to do for the kids including the carousel, the zoo, pony rides, the train ride and a huge playground. Plenty of picnic areas for everyone to enjoy. Ive been coming to this place ever since i was a kid and it always brings back memories. Now that Im much older, its still always good to go with the family. Now I come here to do my weekly exercise runs. Great Park overall!

Van Saun is the cutest local zoo! Its very kid-friendly and its great just to spend a couple hours with the family. They have a carousel available outside and a small train ride that tours around the perimeter of the park. There are a variety of animals including Bison and Elks!! Its very welcoming and quiet. They also hold informative events as well as Holiday events like Boo Zoo that occurs during the Halloween Week. Definitely a great place to visit near the area.

Great for kids to play and enjoy themselves... Walk a bit and theres the zoo. Nothing phenomenal there. But toddlers thoroughly enjoy the animals. Theres a train and the line for is tends to be long. As far as food and drinks... Theres a food truck that sells hotdogs and fries. Kids meals are $11 (dog, fries and a drink). Vending machines throughout the area have bottles of water for $3.15. So BRING ALONG SNACKS OR PICNIC.

One of our favorite parks in this area! Van Saun features a huge playground with jungle gyms for various age groups, including an accessible jungle gym for children with disabilities, and a splash zone (which is open during the summer). Additionally, the park has a very cute carousel and the Bergen countys zoo (plus train!). Our kids love it here, we usually visit two-three times a month.

I love Van Saun. I have been viditing since I was a kid and just 2 weeks ago we took our grandbabies there. It was packed. The plsygroundcwas devorated with happy children. The zoo was busy, the train rides were busy. It was a fun day. The carousel was closed but were going back next month to take the kids for a ride. Plenty of parking. Great place for a walk and to just be outdoors.

If you live in Bergen county, this place is such a bliss in summers. There is ample parking, picnic areas, running tracks, great playing area for kids & to top it all a zoo as well. May not be the best zoo or park but if you are living in Hackensack, Paramus or River edge 5-7 minutes drive away from the park its thoroughly convenient & enjoyable.

Most amazing playground ever! Ive never seen anything like it! A wheelchair accessible play structure and special needs swing are so nice to see, all kids deserve to play! My kids were thrilled with the playground and sprinklers/splash pad. They were so sad when I said it was time to leave. Great place. And the zoo/train was awesome as well!
