Liberty State Park was a wonderful experience as it offers more than just the ferry ride to the Statue of Liberty. While going to the line for the ferry, you pass through an old station with many old trains there. The ferry ride on the Hudson takes you to the Immigrant building first where there are artifacts, documents and photographs of how non-Americans came on to American soil from their boats, selling their goods and offering cheap labor. From there, another ferry takes you to Ellis Island (Statue of Liberty), which is extremely crowded on almost all the days. If you want to go up the Statue to the Pedestal or to the crown, make sure to book tickets well in advance (not just a week or two in advance. It is almost always booked). It provides stunning views of the Jersey City skyline and lower Manhattan skyline. From here, you have the option of taking the ferry back to Liberty State Park, NJ or you can take the New York ferry to lower Manhattan if you want to visit the sights in Manhattan. However, my favorite part of Liberty State Park is the "Empty Sky: NJ September 11th Memorial", which has a couple of beams of the original WTC building after it collapsed (see picture below). The Memorial is placed such that you can see the new One World Trade Center right behind (again, see picture below). The Park also has places where you can walk/jog or relax on the lawns and admire the skylines. All in all, Liberty State Park offers more than you can imagine and it merits multiple visits.

Ill divide this into two parts. Part One. Runner. I live two miles down the street from here, so I can be a bit biased as to its location, however there is no place out of all the places Ive lived that is better for a run. (Los Angeles/Chicago) Along the way you see the same friendly people out for their walks, and you see the same people doing their pull-ups and such. Everyone says Hi or waves as they sprint past. People train on bikes and walk their dogs. To run along the bricks and see the sun come up over Lady Liberty is just breathtaking. There are people out there fishing and by and large, its very peaceful and a nice 8 mile loop from my house. For people. This is the greatest thing about where I live. There is a giant area of kids to play as well as clean bathrooms and drinking fountains and such. There are nature trails and tons of room to run, fly and kite play football (fish I guess, I see people do it). Ive come here for the 4th of July and had a great time watching the fireworks and eating food from the vendors. The park is huge so you can sort life out if you needed. The park is safe and has areas for barbecues. Tons of parking and most of it is free. Around 90% just dont go the ferry and your fine. Its connected to the best views of Manhattan. Only complaint, the statue for why its called Liberty State Park (not for the statue but for the liberation of Jews) the statues hands are too big. Thats it. Outside of that, its my favorite place to be.

1st Question: I spent $100 for the ferry for my family. Id like to know where all my money is being spent. Obviously not on the ticket booth, the employees or updating a darn thing. 2nd Question: Why cant I go to the torch. When I was a kid the park actually spent money and took the torch down to fixed it and remounted it to make it safer for visitors. Why did they bother? What good is the statue if you cant even go inside. I understand you can pay lots of money for private tours to go inside the statue. But this park was never this terrible when I was a kid, and nevet had to pay as much or extra for anything. Id rather save money and get a helicopter to see all NYC and the statue, then to hassle with ferries, security, lines, heckpoints, and seeing an outdated immigration museum along the way to find past family immigrants, when I can just as easily do that from home. If this statue was deported back to France I wouldnt shed one tear.

“huge park- ferry for a statue of liberty-attend fairs-wedding/reception and lots of activity. I have come here to catch a ferry for the statue of liberty couple of times and attend 3-4 fairs... recently been there to see 4th July 2016 fireworks. it offers you a splendid view of New York skyline. So, I guess it was the best place to see fireworks. I have seen a wedding happening there... as there are a couple of resorts. U can take a boat to go exchange place from the park. Light rail station is within walking distance. lavish yachts are also parked here. but this is the best place for Sunday picnic with family/friends. the bike trail is also there. and you can encounter N number of runner along the path.

Great place to go if you dont want to deal with the heavy traffic of the city, easy to get to and plenty to do when you get there. When you first arrive there is a beautiful view of Manhattan. You feel like you are right there. (without the crazy hustle and bustle of the city)The park itself is very well taken care of. Lots of great views of the city. We decided to take the ferry ride to Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty. We took our 11 month baby and there was plenty of space for the stroller on the ferries. They give you the option to get off at Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. We chose to stay on the ferry and not get off at the stops due to the time we had. Would recommend for all ages.

The tickets and security are very very far apart. We were traveling with handicapped individual. No option but to walk. Painfully you walk by long stretches of road you cannot use; frustrating us. We could have driven handicapped party closer to security check point and then dropped them off. But this isnt allowed. On our return trip from the tour, we found a disabled vet who was unable to do the walk back to the car. We asked several employees for assistance for this (unrelated) disabled man - and we were refused any help. Horrible experience. Horrible human relations. Shell of a location.
