I havent even gone to the memorial yet; a friend sent me this link. My friends and family are planing to go this weekend, but I have the answer to a repeated question asked throughout the comments I have read on this meaningful and beautiful gift. PLEASE NOTE : Russian Artist, Zurab Tsereteli walked the streets of Moscow on 9/11 and was struck by the outpouring of grief he observed (in Moscow)...Shortly after the attack, Tserseteli visited ground zero and looked to NJs waterfront for an appropriate sight for a monument honoring victims of the WTC terrorists attacks. Hence, there was a reason for this location. The "view" has meaning for the artist. The question is why our country has not made this particular monument known? It is easily accessible to those visiting ground zero . And, why have they not made the entryway and signage more fitting? Maybe someone who tweets (I do not), could tweet President Trump to make an effort to correct this blunder. I would expect he would be interested in rectifying this particular wrong,

This is a hidden, almost secret, memorial to the victims of terrorism, given to the US by Russia. Its located at the end of an industrial harbor spit with a view of Red Hook across Upper Bay, South of Manhattan. The centerpiece is a 100 tower, split in the center around a gigantic nickel teardrop. The grounds are nicely landscaped with grass, pathways, and benches surrounding the tower. It deserves a more prominent and accessible location; its as if they couldnt find a home for it so they put it in the first spot that became available.

Absolutely a beautiful monument. Thank you russia.. WORST LOCATION EVER! I heard about this monument and wanted to see it..the small 100 foot by 100 foot park is blocked by views of abandoned warehouses and end of a road that I really thought that lead to no where. Whoever decided the location of such a beautiful piece of art needs to give Russia an apology because Russia helped us in the tough time after 9/11 and this needs to be honored better than in a crappy location

This is one of the most hidden memorial. But it was give to us the American people after 9-11 from the Russian people and their president Putin. He was so moved by the awful attack on the people of the United States he sent us this beautiful memorial of a tear . Because he felt our sadness. Thank you to the Russian people and your president for your thoughtfulness in our time of sorrow. This is in nj looking across to were the world Trade Center stood.

After 9/11 there was worldwide sympathy and grief over the destruction of the twin towers in NYC. But one country, and one country only, built a stunning 100 meter monument of shared thoughts for the United States. That nation was Russia. No other nation even came close to such an expression of friendship. The reason I post this is so Americans can see the cruel benign neglect the US media applies to Russia - and the effect of lies by omission.

Did not know about this memorial, and now that I do - will make a point to visit it. Think it is a moving memorial for the 9/11 victims, and the symbolism for aligning with the Statue of Liberty is incredible. Personally I think the United States response to it is a terrible affront to the Russian people. I love my country, and served her proudly, but sometimes our behavior is a huge source of embarrassment to the world community.

Somewhere I read that it represents the tearing of the veil in the temple at the moment Christ died. It had a profound effect on us, and the tearing of temple veil seems a good representation of what we felt on 9/11. The word "tear" has more than one meaning in the English language. We shed a tear when someone tried to tear our world apart. I think it was a lovely gift from the Soviet Union. Sincerely, Eleanor Takahashi Inskip.

This is my thinking place. This place is very quiet and private. Not much people know about this attraction, so only are few to visit at a time. You are able to spot the liberty state park island & the empire state building from here. Also have a great view of New York city here. This place is great except.

Off the beaten path? Absolutely. This is a beautiful memorial, stunning. When you visit it, you can see why they chose the site. I walked around it several times in the rain. I took photos of the panels that have a personal meaning for me. I read the inscriptions on the paths. Deeply moving.

A truly beautiful memorial. Its surprising and a shame that it isnt talked about. Most people arent even aware of it. There is absolutely no signage telling you where it is. Almost as if its hidden. Wonderful gift from the people of Russia. Everyone should visit it

A serene monument built by the Russians empathizing the grief of USA in the 9/11 attacks by terrorists. You can spend a calm and peaceful evening here watching the newly built WTC and surrounding places. There is a small but beautiful garden around the monument.

Not many people living in New Jersey or New york know about this Russian donated monument dedicated to NY world Trade Center attack , it is a masterpiece of artistry on the New Jersey waterfront shore ignored by mainstream media and avoided by politicians.

Incredible memorial, but very solemn and sad. It is way at the end where you can see the bay but you have to go through a bunch of dingy ghostly buildings and there are no signs at all so you wondering where you are going. But it is worth it.

Beautiful memorial thats hidden away in a discreet location. Its a shame there isnt more signage to denote where its located -- it truly is a beautiful gift from the people of Russia. Its very peaceful and quiet, and has amazing scale.

Beautiful Memorial with outstanding skyline views. Just a little hard to find. Its not well marked unfortunately but its worth the trouble. If youre going to the Statue of Liberty its just a few miles to the south. Go!

I Have been here a few times and have brought some different individuals to see it. Most of them have been emotionally moved upon looking at the memorial and cannot understand why it does not get more exposure.

I finally made it to the memorial. Sad, it was a overcast and windy September morning, I was the only one at the park. The wind rushing through the memorial made a whistling noise that sounded like cries.

This is so beautiful. Its to bad its kind of hidden. It was a gift from Russia. And so nice, just look at the pictures. Its worth the quick trip across the water if your down near the 9/11 site anyway...

Mainstream media doesnt report these things cause its run by the government and our government wants us to be blind and in the dark. Someone needs to put this out there so more people know about it.

I just recently discovered this and did not know that it even existed. It seems a shame that either I overlooked this or it was not as glamorized as so many petty things I will not mention here
