We took the N trail as recommended by the visitors center for a short loop but actually this is more of an unleashed dog trail which was not informed to us. The biggest problem was most of the dogs were not on leash and a couple of dogs almost pounced on us. The dog owners should have some sense to keep their dogs on leash and not assume that it is their private park. The dog owners were nonchalant about this safety issue for others and need discipline. Weve been to quite a few trails and havent had this issue. I wonder if there is someone to complain about this safety issue.

This park is simply amazing. The workers at the visitor center are friendly and full of wonderful information. The park itself is a relaxing Haven on Staten Island. There are quite a few trails which lead through breezy forests and lush golf courses. Im sure the fall colors here must be gorgeous. The trails and walking paths are well maintained and not at all crowded. All trails are dog friendly and there is even a water dish at the visitor center. Great park! I will be returning for another visit and walk through nature.

The SI Greenbelt is a good hiking spot. There arent many people around and the people are friendly. There are deers around so beware of ticks. The Nature Center is good spot for a break. The staff is friendly and helpful.
