This is the main building in historic Fort Wadsworth, the fortress that once guarded New York against external attacks. The building is off-limits to the public when we visited so all we could do was take pictures and read the information boards set up by the National Park Service, which highlight the history and significance of the place. Pay attention to the somewhat obscure lighthouse that caps the building. From here, follow the walk path to another historic place called Fort Tompkins, which sits atop an adjacent hill.
