Went in my first tour back in 04, been on a number over the years since and it is truly amazing to see how far they have come. I always schedule my tours for the last available on any given day, that way there is no rush at the end (the tasting) to get us out and get ready for the next group. The tasting room and gift shop are open to the public during business hours (I believe) or at least no one asks any questions when Im always an hour early to get a pre-tour flight or two. Way back when I started drinking, fancy imports were Guinness and Heineken, a 6 pack of Negra Modelo cost $3 as it was cheap Mexican beer, sigh, and Blvd only offered 2 styles plus a rotating seasonal, my-oh-my have they piled on the offerings since those days! It would be impossible to say they have a single best as they have so many great great beers and constantly churn out new and tasty offerings. Depending on the day Im looking to Double/Single Wide or a Long Strange Tripel, my brothers all swear by Tank 7 and maybe its that I married in to Deutsche blood but I gotta have some hoppyness on a warm sunny day, anyway! Come visit the Blvd, snag a couple flights and make your own call! TOURS ARE FREE Thats right, free means totally free minus what you want to buy in the gift shop and beer before/after the tasting. Blvd is another KC icon that you really dont want to miss, if you are visiting and do one scheduled outing while in KC make it this tour, if you were smart and scheduled ahead or they have an opening that is. Make a day of it! You could hit up the River Market/Nelson, grab lunch where ya like (Vietnam Café in Columbus Park), take the Blvd tour, visit some of our beautiful parks/fountains (Jacob Loose Park), and still have enough day left to sit down for a nice dinner at one of our amazing local spots before heading off in to the vibrant KC night. Youre welcome :-P

Stumbled upon this on the freeway after being picked up from the airport. I told my friends that we should see if they offer tours. Next morning we called to inquire and the guy mentioned that you have to RSVP in person, but youre more than welcome to call the day of to see if there are any left. Luckily, we arrived around 10:45am on a Friday and there were still tickets left for the 11:30am tour. I believe that tours are offered every 90 minutes. Luckily for us, there were only 10 of us in our tour group, which allowed for more intimate conversations/interactions. The tour guide was hilarious and had genuine charisma. We were led downstairs to where the magic happens and watched an educational video regarding Boulevards history. Next, we walked outside to another building, climbed 5 flights of stairs to the events space. The layout is definitely nice for a company party or even a wedding. Then, we got to see the assembly line of the beer being packaged. Finally, we went to the tasting room and each person can sample 2 beers on tap. I tried the wheat (the basic staple of Boulevard) and Tank 7 (also what theyre known for.) My friends and I all got different varieties to maximize our tasting. Id recommend this tour to people, just remember to go early to get your free tickets.

Totally unsure what a free tour of a brewery would be like. We walked in and were greeted immediately with a smiling face. We were interested in a tour of the brewery in which were informed right away that there will be one in about 10 mins and feel free to look around. In the rec center there is a lot of information on Boulevard to read through even a stocked up gift center with thousands of souvenirs such as hats, shirts, bottle openers, even mix and match six pack of beer. Our tour guide was very enthusiastic about the tour and very knowledgeable about the brewery. We were first walked down to the old bar where we were informed of the Boulevard history while enjoying one of their popular brews. After the brew, we were walked through the brewery and informed on the process of their brewery, if you are one who knows nothing brewing this is one for you. The entire tour takes 45 mins to one hour ending in the beer hall where you can turn in your tour badge for two samples of any Boulevard brew of your choice. My wife doesnt drink beer so I had 4! Overall experience was awesome! I would go there over and over again if the wife would let me!

First of all... I went to the tasting room and I was turned away saying it was only for after tours, so it needs clarifying. Before visiting I went to the website where it says the tasting room is open during brewery hours. After a 9 hour road trip, turned away because I was told the tasting room was for only after tours, which were by reservation only. I was specifically told that if I wanted to try the beer I could go to most KC restaurants to try it (which I can do at home). They only advertise needing reservations for the tours, which I can understand. But the tasting room should be open during business hours where people can not ONLY buy merchandise, but can ALSO sample the beer without reservation. *UPDATE* So in Missouri apparently breweries cant sell beer in their tasting room, only give samples away.

We started our day at Boulevard, but clearly we didnt start early enough. By the time we arrived around 11:00 AM, all tours were sold out. No matter, we grabbed a spot at a high top and went about a tasting. Boulevard operates their bar a bit differently during peak hours; be aware that you can only order what will fit in two hands to carry--two flights, one flight one beer, one flight and one doughnut pairing, two beers, etc. Yes, I said doughnut pairing. Do this. You wont regret it. Boulevard has multiple beer styles on-tap, and some of them are only available at the actual brewery. Do yourself a favor and try some of their rare products available only on-site. Be prepared to wait, but tables are plentiful. Overall, more impressed with their beers in-house than Ive had in the past.

Most of the brewing process takes place inside tanks so there isnt a lot of action to see. Our group was lucky to see them running the bottling operation which was interesting. The best part of the tour for me was the sampling after the tour. Ive been drinking beer for decades and learned a lot about the different styles of beer and the ingredients that make up the different tastes. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly so they make it comfortable to ask questions and explain the different products as you taste them. Next time Im in KC, Im going to try a paid tour to learn even more about the ingredients and tastes in the different varieties. The free tour was one of the highlights of my long WE in KC.

Public tour tickets are offered on the day of the tour. We came at 10:30 am on a Wednesday and got tickets for the 2:00 tour. We arrived at about 1:30 and had a beer in the taproom before the tour. The tour lasted about 45 minutes and was lead by Adam. Adam was hilarious and very personable. The tour included a history of Boulevard beer, production line and bottling line. At the end of the tour, you get to sample two 4 oz beers of your choice. I highly recommend the Tank 7. Overall, it was a fabulous experience especially for the free price tag. They also have specialty tours available, which I would love to check out in the future.
