First time Ive been back to SDCITY in about 20 years. My husband and I took the kids for their first time. Ages 9, 7 and 15 months. I was concerned there would be anything for our toddler but there was! And aside from the insane heat, we had a great time. Ill break it down for you... PROS you can bring your own food in! Such a money saver for a big family. Parent swap at rides. I was concerned about ever getting to ride with the kids on the rides because I had the baby most of the time. But when we got there, first ride was fire in the hole, and I got to wait for the rest of the family by the entrance and once they exited I got to ride with them while the hubs stayed with the baby! No getting back in line. Even better, they were happy to accommodate. Sprinklers out all around the park for cooling off. Perfect for making sure no one overheated. There are a few rides for toddlers to go on with a parent. My daughter loved the butterfly ride and the carosel. The splash pad at firemans landing was a lifesaver for her. She loved it! Free water at food stands, just ask! Wait time during the week for rides was pretty fast! Well-organized too. Nice staff. Even though the ride operators had said the same announcements probably a thousand times that day, they did it with a happy heart. AND FOLKS, THEY WERE WEARING LONG PANTS AND SHIRTS OR DRESSES IN 100 DEGREE WEATHER. CONS Not much to say here, except I was disappointed in how much of the shops sold crappy, made in China stuff. Nothing particularly special. I did like the little Shop next to fire in the hole that sold handmade bath soaps and beauty products. Prices were nice too. Everything else was just so expensive and not very special. Food was ridiculously priced...and I know thats just part of the deal with amusement parks but over $40 for a few crappy hamburgers and fries. It makes me mad. What was really weird was they didnt offer lids for the drinks and when I asked, a woman who clearly didnt understand English, handed me a tray instead of a lid. Then I asked someone else and he said, "we dont have lids on this side of the park". WHAT? Very strange. The layout of the park, we found to be very confusing and frustrating, especially in high heat. I wanted to rip my hair out the first day. The map helps but some rides are very tucked away and we would have completely missed them if we hadnt asked someone. Signage is not great around the park either. They could help out first timers a lot by putting up more signs for the exit or for popular rides or hard to find rides. Overall, a good experience. Lots of fun and memories to be made.

Well I have been going to sdc for years since the late 80s. Most of the time the staff had been awesome but I went on 6-17-17 I had quite a different experience this time. The first thing was it was free for law enforcement and discounted for their familys. So when I went to guest relations to get a ticket for my girlfriend and I. I showed my law enforcement Id and I was asked if she was my spouse. I said no she is my girlfriend. The lady at the counter became very defensive and rudely said the discount is only for if youre married. Which was totally fine I understand they didnt even have to do the free law enforcement thing however I didnt need to be yelled at or treated like child I didnt even ask for her to get a discount I just asked to buy a ticket for her. So anyway that was the first thing. There were a few instances with other staff members being snippy but nothing worth mentioning until the grand finally came. Okay it was the end of the day we had a good time we had ridden most every ride except outlaw run it was broken all day. We decided to ride the last thing which was the great American plunge. As we were coming down the plunge I tried to cover my girlfriend from getting too wet because I just about had to drag her in the ride. Anyway we went to look at our picture and I loved it so much it was hilarious. We had been looking for the perfect souvenir from our visit and I pretty much decided that was it. It was a classic picture that captured a great fun moment we had and I asked the lady at the picture booth how much the picture cost. She quickly replied I cant sell that picture. I only could imagine the picture printer was broken or something so I was Like well thats too bad why not. The lady was line because youre grabbing her boob in the picture which was not true at all I was covering her so she wasnt soaked my hand was covering her breast in the picture but I wasnt grabbing her boob. If it wasnt a women working that booth who said that I would have likey cussed him out because I was pissed. Again Im an adult I dont like being treated like a child. If it wasnt for the fact I didnt want to spoil the trip I would have at least asked to speak with management on that deal because I was livid.

We had a great day until we decided to upgrade our tickets to season passes. My husband and I spent the day at Silver Dollar City with my son, daughter in law and daughter plus our blessed Grandaughter. We started the day at 9:00 in the morning on Black Firday and were there until around 6:30. We were in line to get the season passes, but it was a long line and my sweet Grandbaby just couldnt make it any longer, so I told them to go on and we would get the season passes. After waiting another 1/2 hour we get to the window and the lady informs us we cannot get my son and daughter in laws because they have to be present to sign for it. I told them my daughter who is 24 years old and disabled could not sign her ticket or did not have an id. She told me that was ok, they would look at her as a child. Then I question this more and she said she didnt have my son or daughter in laws address. I told her I had that, then she said its the policy of the Merchandising Team. None of it made sense to me. Needless to say after spending $214.00 that day to get in and planning to spend another $250.00 to upgrade the tickets, I guess Silver Dollar City did not need our business. We were not kids trying to get away with getting someone in free on another persons pass. We were just a family of 5 wanting to spend time in 2014 with our family at Silver Dollar City. I think the thing that makes the least sense is you have to sign the season pass then when you get to the gate you have to not only give the season pass but also your DL with the pass to prove this is yours. So we would not have been getting away with anything. Also we had pictures of my Son, Daughter in law and Grandaughter time stamped for 11/29/2013 which proves they were there. They also rented a stroller that day with a credit card which proves they were there. I am so sad and unhappy with this park, who treated us like we were trying to deceive them instead of just being a family wanting to enjoy the park all year long. They may pretend to be nice and family oriented, but they are not. Sad way to end an otherwise fun day. Wont be back.
