First, Ill say we ignored some suggestions not to stay here for a long dance competition weekend because it wasnt very kid-friendly. I admit fault there. But, setting that aside for a moment, heres my review of everything but the casino, which we didnt visit. Some very nice things: All the staff we encountered were extremely nice. The hotel/restaurants were well cared for and clean. Free valet parking, excluding any optional tipping. Lots of valets, so you dont have to wait long to drop off or pick up. The rooms are very clean and look nice. Our king bed room was a good size, even if you have an extra roll away or air mattress. The bathrooms are big, and there are separate tubs and showers. Lots of counter space on the vanity. Air conditioning worked great while we were there. Several restaurant choices in the building, so you dont have to go far for a bite to eat. The arcade was great. Lots of games, and they were (mostly) cheap ($.25-$1 per play). The nicer prizes were way more affordable (with tickets) than a normal arcade. The pool is nice and big, and there is drink service to your chair! Now for the unpleasantness. There were several negatives that unfortunately overshadowed the positives: Smoking. Everywhere. Around restaurants, the ice cream place, the arcade, the pool. Everywhere, except specific non-smoking floors. All the secondhand smoke and smell aggravated my wifes and daughters allergies the entire trip. The food places are expensive. The breakfast buffet for 2 adults and 1 kid (8 years old) was almost $65. Even with just drinks and pastries at the coffee place for breakfast, we were looking at $30. For the price youre paying for the room, I expected, well, "more". Hard to say exactly what it was, but the rooms didnt seem to live up to the high price. Check-in took a while. They had 3 people manning the desks, and each guest I was behind took between 5 and 15 minutes to check-in. The summary: Nice, clean hotel with lots of amenities. Great staff. Expensive rooms and dining, and smoking is prevalent, even in the kid-friendly areas.

This property used to be a lot better when it first opened. Be very careful when you make reservations as to what is guaranteed. I booked a room category "King bed ocean view". This implies that I will be guaranteed an ocean view and king bed. The reservation associate told me that both ocean view and king were guaranteed. It is a non-smoking facility so I did not ask for that. The high floor was on request only. When I called the night before to confirm my reservations, I was told that ocean view is guaranteed but not king bed. I was on the phone with the property manager for an hour arguing my point that is false advertising. He said that the bed type is never guaranteed. If you go online and look at the different types of categories, you will see "king bed ocean view", "queen bed ocean view". And they have different prizes. Now, why would all those smart people at MGM resort international not just advertise "ocean view" and not bed type if it is not guaranteed. I told the manager that the reservation associated told me it was guaranteed and he said it is not and he will speak with the associate. I told him that I was going to complaint to the chamber of commerce and write to the corporate office of deceiving advertising. Nevertheless, I WAS given a KING bed eventually when I arrived. It was PREASSIGNED for me. Why did I have to go thru all that trouble. Also, they nickel and dime you at this property. I order a pot of coffee as room service. A pot of coffee that lists as $7.00 in the room menu cost $11.00 and change after fees, delivery, gratuity. Delivery..really!! WOW!!!! Dont get me wrong, It is a nice property, just very pricey and gotcha yous if you are not careful. Although, I eventually got what I reserved and paid for; I am still going to write to their corporate office as to why did I have to go thru all this arguments over what was advertised and what I was told I was getting.

Id never have imagined that Mississippi was so beautiful. It has the polite population you find in the south combined with the beautiful scenery you find in, well, Mississippi. Beau Rivage is right on the gulf coast in Biloxi, MS. Despite the fact that I visited during a tropical storm, the views of the beach were magnificent, much more so than the Texan beaches I grew up with. And the pool was magnificent. Had the rain not been pouring down fiercely, I could imagine the humongous swimming area, with its clean, blue chairs and modern accoutrements, filled with beautiful people enjoying themselves under the uplifting, gulf sun. Ive been to casinos on Indian Reservations in Texas as well as ones in Louisiana, Colorado, and, of course, Las Vegas. I find Beau Rivage to be an exemplary destination full of class but without sacrificing its welcoming atmosphere. Whereas Vegas casinos can feel overwhelmingly large and financially intimidating, and Colorado and Louisiana casinos can feel a little run down or too much like retirement homes, Beau Rivage feels both high class with all of its amenities as well as its friendly and welcoming attitude offered to anyone whether wanting to try his or her hand at the roulette wheel or just looking for a nice meal. Beau Rivage has all of the swanky creature comforts a Vegas casino does but without the high prices and equally high noses. Beau Rivage offers plenty of extras like free rooms, free meals, and other various perks if the free players card is used while gambling, and they are relatively free handed with the giveaways. Bea Rivage is on the top of my list of vacation spots when gambling is in the menu.

The room was very clean and beds were super comfortable. Id didnt leave 5 stars because of service and amenities. We only stayed 2 days. In those 48 hours, th pool was closed twice. One time, not sure why... the other time, I was told some one found a jelly fish in the pool?! Maybe they were drunk. Who knows. Im not much of a gambler, so while my husband played poker... it was my only form of entertainment. During the first pool closing... I decided Id go get a massage. Massage was excellent. The gentleman really worked some mean knots out of my back. Part of massage packet that I dropped 150 bucks on was suppose to include spa amenities... hot tub, plunge pool etc. Well all of those were out of order... except the sauna. And Im not a sauna person. So basically 150 bucks on a Swedish massage I coulda got for 60- After my spa experience... I attempted to try my luck on the slots. Dang Betty White took all my money...she kept telling me she like d the way I was betting... I guess because she was winning... but any ways... not ONE time did a waitress come take my drink order... I flagged a lady down and asked her "mam, how do the severs work? Is there a server for each area? Because no one has come around." She said "yes, she should be by in a little bit... flag me again if she doesnt." And walked off. So no drink...pretty much same thing happened at the pool when I finally did get to go the second day. Plus Buffett line is ridiculous. 45 minutes in line. Get in there and there are TONS of empty tables. Food was pretty good when we did finally sit down. For sure could be a 4/5 star hotel... .
