Wow! I just read the other reviews and dont know what day or time their experience was but everytime I bring relatives over from out of town...we always have the best time as well as buying wines for them to take home! I dont know too much about wines so ask a lot of wierd questions Im sure. Never once has anyone ever been condesending towards me - only very helpful. I love the decor and gifts too! Sometimes we purchase sandwiches from down the street and go sit on the winery balcony overlooking the river and sip wine. My out of town guests are always so impressed! I especialy love the sales people because they are so accomodating and friendly - very laid back. Ive visited the vineyards in San Franciso too and this is just like how its done there. Well, maybe without the sourdough bread!

Took my GF to a few Wineries in Stillwater for her birthday a few weeks ago. Our first stop was Northern Vineyards. The layout, while small, was cozy and authentic. The wine was extremely unimpressive however. We both did a tasting and out of the ten wines we tried, there was literally one that we considered buying. The rest were just flat out, not very good. The wine "expert" was nice but not particularly knowledgeable. She seemed to be reading from a script. One of the wines had a bit of carbonation, which we asked about, and the expert says that some bottles have that carbonation, others do not. Suprise! Seems like an issue with their bottling process. We did end up going to Saint Croix Wineyards afterwards and they were great. Id suggest going there instead.

Ok so first off, I dont really consider myself a wine snob. But I am from Oregon. So that probably gives me some standards that others dont have. Well, I mean, Maybe. Potentially. The wine was great! Sometimes in the Upper Midwest, there is a tendency for overly sweet wine..but their wines are not super sweet...and I like that. That being said....if you are one of those people who like drinking sweet "wine" this place is not for you. One of my absolute favorite Minnesota reds I have had was from here...St Croix! Try it! Also, when I go wine tasting I go for the experience not just the wine. The girl behind the counter was great. So knowledgeable! I will be back

I have been to this winery several times over the last couple of years and can honestly say that the wine is not that good. I know that people have their own wine preferences, but when comparing this winery to others in the region I would have to rate this one last in the list. They have a nice patio on the second floor with a view of the river, but you have to tolerate the wine to enjoy it. Im not sure what awards these wines have won, but if they were the only winery entering then the award has to go to someone. If you go I would recommend going with one of their sweeter wines, but if youre looking for a red wine you should try another close by vineyard.

The winery itself was a cute little place - it fit right in with the rest of the shops in Stillwater - and the staff was friendly enough given how crazy busy they were when we got there. HOWEVER, the wine itself was subpar. Im not a fancy pants wino by any means, but I do know what I like, and this wasnt it. We bought 3 bottles (but bypassed the tasting because of the crowds), and theyre all going down the drain. The ones we picked were their version of the table red, merlot and cabernet - every one of them had the same too-tart-vinegary aftertaste. I dont think well be going back.

A must-stop for 21+ wine lovers, Northern Vineyards Winery is an excellent place to pre-game before touring the town. The staff is very friendly, talkative, and will usually give you more to "sample" than what youve purchased. Visit during the summer and enjoy sipping wine from local Minnesota grapes while taking in the view of the river and lift-bridge from their vine-covered balcony.

Stopped through while staying in Stillwater for our 10th wedding anniversary. We were greeted warmly by the staff and had the six wine tasting. As with all wine tastings, not every wine is going to be for everyone, but there is certainly at least on in the tasting that will please your tastebuds. You can even purchase your favorite bottle and take it up to their patio to enjoy.

Tasting went well, though it was blistering hot inside the testing room and the folks serving us were sweating profusely. The wine was OK, not the best. But, we bought some anyway. One week later I noticed dripping from my wine rack, and sure enough one of their bottles had already gone BAD. Sad, not going back.

Terrible service during our wine tasting. I felt like just a number instead of being treated as a paying customer. Not personable at all and kind of pushy. We got no menus and were barely told what we were trying, the wine was terrible. Wouldnt recommend this place to anyone!

Cold weather grapes rule, I love them and the wine they produce. Call me crazy.... This isnt California? The hell you say. Ive never been to a more friendly or inviting winery. The prices, comparatively, are very reasonable. But.... Closed at 6 pm? Seriously

Great variety of quality minnesota and wisconsin wines, made on site. Full-bodied reds and sweet whites and everything in between. Awesome deck with best river view in town. Chill out with a bottle and watch the boats pass under the stillwater lift bridge.

Cozy, but more of a wine bar. We were looking for something g more like a vineyard, but obviously thats tough in downtown Stillwater. We werent particular fond of any of the wines include I the tasting, but thats more personal preference.

The people were great. Friendly and awesome service. The wines were ok. Not like Im a super wine snob, but mad dog 20/20 and boons farm I think are better. But the place is nice, wines not my style.

I have never liked wine from MN before coming to this winery! The balcony is awesome and I have yet to try a wine here I have disliked. You must try the St. Croix Reserve!

Went in for a tasting with friends and the customer service was very poor. Also, not a fan of the wines. They were too sweet.
