Loved it! There was 5 of us that came here to celebrate a birthday, so reservations were made to ensure that we got a good table. We were not disappointed. The service was great. Our waiter was friendly, helpful, entertaining, and went out of his way to make the night more special. We definitely appreciated it. The food was really good. We tried many of the plates offered on the menu, and none of us was disappointed. The drinks were all good. They also made sure we had plenty of water, which is important for talkative drinkers like our group. There were people throughout the club who were dancing so that should answer your questions about that. I dont think there was a bad seat in the club. The musicians were great and made sure they interacted with the crowd. We would recommend this place for any special occasion or just to go relax with friends for a mellow evening.

A dark, atmospheric, and elegant jazz bar tucked away in a basement. Cover charges are more than worth it for the live music that plays there, along with the friendly, good-humored staff. Cocktails are on the pricier side but are well-balanced and unique creations that hit the mark more often than not with nuanced and delicate flavors that are best sipped slowly. Accompanying food, both full on entrees like ahi tuna and simpler nibbles like cheese plates are available as well, and are a good compliment to the excellent selection of drinks. Since Vieux Carre is new to the area, it remains to be seen whether they will continue to excel.

Went on a Saturday night. There was a cover charge, place was packed, but once you have a seat, its a great experience. You are not crowded, but the feeling of a full house is nice. The band was fantastic, lots of eye contact with the audience. Staff was very friendly as were the others who came to enjoy the environment. I was very pleased with place and would come back. Only thing (as with a lot of places) its harder on vegetarians.

I just recently held my wedding reception at Vieux Carre and everything was absolutely amazing. Joe and Jeff took care of every detail and they even created a specialty cocktail for us that was perfect. I would definitely recommend booking a private event with them. I didnt have a chance to eat, but all my guests said the food was spectacular :)

Live music is good for your soul. Friendly service. Food is good. I have a cod po boy sandwich and my husband had the crab cakes. Both were tasty. Small, intimate space to hear jazz. I never know where to park my car in St. Paul. I usually park along the Green Line for free. This time, I parked at a meter--$10 for 4 hours.

We loved it! The staff was wonderful, food fantastic and we liked the smaller portions. We shared the crab cake, gumbo and the ice box cake. The crab cake is reminiscent of the crab cake at the Pickled Parrot. Entertainment was lovely, singing sad songs for happy hour!! We will go back!

I came on an absolutely packed night. It took a while to get service because they were over capacity. Once we were settled though, the cocktails were fantastic , the food delicious, and the atmosphere perfect. Quite a step up from the Artists Quarter, but still a fun basement jazz spot.

This is s great jazz club hidden in the lower level of the Hamms building downtown St. Paul. The atmosphere is everything youd want in a jazz club, the New Orleans style food is wonderful and the music has been top notch every time Ive visited. Definitely worth the trip.

They used to charge for the shows during the JazzFest, although the shows were announced as part of the JazzFest program which supposed to be free. I had a reservation experience with them, which went ok. The food is not the best, but the music is good.

Power-Point Karaoke was fantastic!! So many people were having good clean fun on a Friday night, playing every game imaginable, while eating and laughing. I wish I lived near enough to go on a regular basis. This place is nothing short of AMAZING!!!

Awesome spot for drinks and light food. Everything we tried was delicious, the music was phenomenal, and the staff was helpful and friendly. Well be back many times. If theres a cover, expect to need cash at the door but theres an ATM upstairs.

Awesome speakeasy type bar with local jazz bands and other musicians on tap along with lots of cocktails, some of them specialties. A little pricey but youre also paying for the ambiance which is lively and gets the whole bar going.

Great cocktails (some included in happy hour), maybe the best New Orleans-style food in the Twin Cities (also several options on happy hour). My favorite is the live jazz (no cover during happy hour).

Killer downtown spot! The menu is full of really fun New Orleans inspired drinks and dishes, but the fact they have live music EVERY NIGHT is the ace-in-the-hole. Ill be here often!

This is the best kept jazz secret in St Paul. You have to make your way to the basement of the building. Fairly light menu but whats there is pretty good. Oh yes, and great jazz.

This little cozy place is good for a romantic date or out with friends. Food too expensive and not a lot of if variety however if you go before 6:00 no cover charge.

This subterranean bar features live music, excellent cocktails, and good New Orleans cuisine. If youve been to Jazz Fest, youll want to try their Jazz Fest Gumbo.

I really liked this place, the food and drinks were good. Loved the entertainment. Seemed like a place for an older crowed though, 50+. Not enough young vibes.

Just do it. My wife and I shared the Glazed Short Rib, then Icebox Cake. One of the best meals we have ever had. The live music was very nice too!

Great place for live music (jazz mostly), excellent service from bar and servers, good food and superb deserts, ask for the barrel aged bourbon.

Come early or it may be hard to get a table. Great jazz. Only one server so it takes a while to get your order, but the music makes waiting OK.

Nice and cozy atmosphere to see live music. The food we had was delicious but menu is smaller than other jazz clubs in the Twin Cities area.

Listened to the Southside Aces while sipping mint Julep. Try the roasted apricots. Great staff, great entertainment and great drinks.

One of the best dining rooms in town, intelligently focused menu with great cooking and wine list. And the best part is the music!
