There are are several really good, interactive exhibits. These build up to trace the history of electricity and magnetism, with a focus on development in Minnesota. There are activities for many different ages, and it should prove to be an interesting and entertaining experience for folks from many walks of life. The architecture of the physical building is fascinating as well... I did not rate it 5-stars because it could have more exhibits.

Just got back from a field trip here. Fun place for kids (and adults) to learn and experiment. However, I must agree with some other reviews that the staff here can be very harsh on the children which is a huge bummer and I am sure hindered many of the kids experience today. I felt a lot of the staff leaders were very impatient with our kids who were just super excited to learn...kind of a deal breaker for me at least.

I have been here multiple times as a leader for a 10-13 year olds after school program. The kids enjoy trying out the different hands on experiments, learning about electricity and watching the Frankenstein exhibit! We constantly have troubles with the annoyed front desk employees and have difficulty setting up guided tours. We hoped this place would be more kid friendly, but are often disappointed in the harsh staff.

I highly recommend checking out the Bakken Museum. I took my wife and 2 kids there recently and it was a great visit. They do a great job and teaching about electricity through providing hands on experiments that any age can enjoy. The staff was very friendly and took a lot of time with our kids to help show and teach them about the exhibits in the museum.

Our son went to a summer camp and absolutely loved it. His learning style incorporates exploring, inquiring, hands-on, kinesthetic, and observation. On the drive home every day, he was ebullient, a first for a summer camp, and shared stories of what he did and how things worked. The perfect camp for the hands-on type of learner.

Wonderfully electricity and magnetics museum set in an amazing blend of medieval and other architecture with wonderful outdoor space. Tesla coils, generators, theramins, and an amazing collection of writing from many of the great scientific contributors like Benjamin Franklin.

They have some pretty cool stuff in here, I like the scarey part way in the back, I had came with a few friends. That part had made my friend jump, s o bad it was really funny as soon as he opened the door and the smoke started to come out. Fun times!

Dont let the exterior fool you, this is an amazing modern museum that tackles just how electricity works. Youll be shocked, and your kids will love learning all about how electricity works. The grounds are beautiful too.

A hidden gem of a museum that too often gets forgotten about due to the other museums in the area. Interesting exhibits, beautiful location in an old mansion, definitely worth checking out.

Kids had lots of fun and learned a thing or two about electricity. Some of the areas were for older kids, probably 3rd grade and up. Great staff and location, would go back again.

This is a nice museum around Lake Calhoun. I am unaware of the hours it is open for the public. I prefer the history of the house rather than the scientific stuff.

The house is almost more impressive than the museum. It is fun for the kids but has limited installations.Nice little history of electricity in Minnesota.
