The home is beautiful and it was fascinating to see the studio as Benton left it. The guide on our tour was a little short with us a couple of times (when I wandered a little ahead of her to peek in the next room and when my sister unknowingly touched a chair in the dining room) and that affected our enjoyment of the tour. Weve never had anything but wonderful experiences on Missouri historic site tours before this, though, and I wouldnt let this experience stop me from recommending this site to others.

Worth taking the tour! The home is a wonderful example of the craftsman style, and is chock full of craftsman and Art Deco furniture and architectural details. The home is also full of Bentons art and belongings, all lovingly cared for and preserved. While you can enjoy the grounds on your own, the tour is required to go in either building. This site is a must if you are a fan of craftsman architecture, art deco furniture, Kansas City history, Mr. Bentons art, or all of the above!

I knew little about Thomas Hart Benton before coming to the museum, (Didnt even know his biggest works) and I feel like I left an expert. The tour is great. Informative, funny and just the right amount of time (45ish minutes). The Bentons house and the studio are filled with their possessions, so it really looks like they stepped out for the afternoon. Definitely a special place for Kansas City and Missouri history.

Its like stepping into history. Everything is left in the same in this great artista house. If you enjoy beautiful architecture, art and Kansas City history, youll enjoy this tour. The woman on site from the Missouri Parks Department was very kind in taking her time in answering our questions.

If you love art and architecture and history and politics from the early-mid 1900s, this place is endlessly fascinating. Also, the fact that the brick drive construction is solid granite is just amazing. I love the feeling of stepping back in time during this tour.

This is one of Mo State Parks. You can take a tour of his home or just walk around the grounds. A must see for anyone and everyone.
