tl;dr: Escape MSP rocks, and they have something for every experience level and group size. Ive done about 10 total escape rooms including all of the rooms at Escape MSP. This place rocks. Their rooms arent perfect (Ill get to that in a second), but they are darn good. The experience is immersive, and on the whole, the staff is fun and helpful. They have a scoring system and leaderboard, which I havent seen at other places. I definitely like that element. Escape MSP gives clues instead of having players ask for them. This usually goes really well because the hosts watch really carefully, but on a couple of rare occasions, the clues were unhelpful or redundant, which is a bummer because it affects the score. Overview of rooms (no spoilers beyond what is on their website): Dupree (Mpls): good for big groups. Lots to do and satisfying to solve. A good first room for a group. James Bomb (Mpls): good for small groups. Id say 6 max. you start off handcuffed in a small, dimly-lit room. It gets warm, and there arent enough puzzles for a large group. Its completely different from the other rooms and worth experiencing. Dr. K. (Mpls): This was the best escape experience I have had anywhere. It was also the hardest (we did not escape, but we were very close). We had 4 people, which I think was the perfect number, but 5 would have been okay. Some knowledge of math and science is helpful though not necessary. This is a great room for experienced players. Treedeath (Mpls): A well-made room that is a great starter (similar to Dupree). The room is smaller than Dupree, so I wouldnt recommend bringing 10 people. We brought 5, which was good. There were a fair number of puzzles to work on at once (but not as many as Dupree), so it could maybe go up to about 7 people but not more in my opinion. If you like cool tech stuff, this room has a couple of neat surprises in store too. Crofts Museum (SP): This is the newest room at the new St. Paul location. The theme was amazing, and the technology and aesthetics far outdid the other rooms. Some of the puzzles, however, were frustrating, which I think is a factor of this room being both new and very mechanically involved compared to their other rooms. The museum would be best with a medium or large group. We had 5. I would say 3-8 would be reasonable, but it could go up to 10 with newer players. There are probably about 3 puzzles to solve at any given time. This could be a good starter or mid-experience room. While it is more involved and less intuitive than Treedeath or Dupree, it is less challenging than Dr. K. (unsure where to place James Bomb since its so different from the others, and our group size made our experience an anomaly).

Our group of 5 had a really great experience here. They were very flexible and accommodating when two of our people were significantly late and allowed us to start 20 minutes later than our scheduled time. Their flexibility was GREATLY appreciated! The experience itself was challenging (we did Mr. Duprees Office) but really fun. Unfortunately, we were not able to make it out of the room in the 60 minutes, but were shown after time was up what we missed. Like other escape rooms, you are monitored throughout your time and given clues if you are struggling. Added bonus... McCrae from Big Brother 15 was the Escape MSP employee leading our group during our experience! After we were done in the room, he let me fan girl out on him and took a photo with us!

Extremely fun night, the people running it get into character to help set the scene in the beginning, and the mysteries are fun to solve! Ive done both Mr. Dupree and James Bomb, both are really fun. Mr. Duprees Office is better for a first time mystery room, and should also be pretty handicap accessible, while James Bomb is more intense and is in a much smaller space, so it would be difficult for wheelchairs. I was with 10 people both times, which was a good number to solve the mysteries with, however it was very tight on the James Bomb room, so if you are claustrophobic I would not recommend that one for you. Overall a very fun way to spend a couple of hours!

Came here on a family vacation. We went into the Dr. Drupee room. Staff was friendly in the briefing room. When we started the clock, we quickly found out way out, and staff came running in, explaining that the room was set incorrectly. Causing us to find the clues too easily. After a huge confusion, we carried on. Towards the end, when we were very close to escaping, one of their padlocks was set for the incorrect code, which made completing the totally mission impossible. When we were stuck with the malfunctioning padlock, we basically sat and waited out the time. Its hard telling if we just had bad luck, or if these problems occur regularly.

I heard of escape Msp after seeing the today show in New York City participate in something similar. I tried to see if Minneapolis had something similar and found escape Msp. The setup of the night was perfect for my group of friends. Some of us werent sure if we would enjoy "puzzle solving" but once we were locked in this room, we had a blast working together. I wont give out any secrets but all I can say is that it was challenging and fun all at once. This would be a great date night, event with friends before dinner or something fun for a team to do. Great work escape MSP.

Went there with the whole office as a team building activity. There were enough of us that we had to split into 2 rooms. I was in the James Bomb room which was SO much fun!! The room was a little small for 10 people, so it got pretty warm in there but it was still a blast. The clues were very challenging and you really did all have to work together to figure everything out. We unfortunately did not escape due to our lack of diligence when inspecting a clue, but we were very close! The whole staff was awesome, and id definitely go back.

Our very first escape room. Very challenging ,especially since there were only two of us. Id suggest putting a group of friends together for this instead of a couples date night. It take persistence but the game master always gave us hints when we were stumped. Id like to see the lighting a bit brighter as it was hard to read some of the clues. Perhaps some spotted display lights on written clues. All in all, we were challenged, didnt accomplish our first mission but would try another room again. Good experience

We went through 3 different rooms as part of a bachelor party and had a great time. The rooms were fun to figure out and you could tell there was a lot of attention to detail even with the small props; books in a room match the theme of the persons room we were supposed to be in, little objects scattered throughout matched the mission. It was great. Loved the side missions for bonus points on some of the escapes. Our group had a blast. Looking forward to see what else you guys come up with.

I tried this with some apprehension about being locked in a room, but from the first second it was a blast. This was a team building event with my work group and it was amazing (and amusing) to see my peers dive in and use their skills to accomplish the mission. The puzzles are clever and rewarding to solve and the surprises were icing on the cake. Highly recommend this for teams, work groups, friends and family. Looking forward to the next mission for sure - fun, fun, FUN!
