Baker Park Reserve is our favorite place to go camping in the metro area! We came here for the first time last year, and liked in so much that we came back the very next weekend and brought our friends along too! We have camped here many times, and we are always introducing new people to this great park. The park has at least three separate swimming beaches on Lake Independence, a boat launch, fishing piers, canoe/kayak rental, playground, hiking trails, many miles of bike trails, rental bikes, excellent bathroom facilities, and spacious campsites with a good combination of forest and open space. The campground is huge, so there are usually spaces available. Our family loves cycling, and we always bring bikes camping with us. The entire park (which is quite large) is connected by bike paths, and there is a 6-mile loop around Katrina Lake that is quite nice. These trails also connect with other bike trails outside the park, so you can ride as far as your heart desires. If you want a place to go camping within the metro area, look no further than Baker Park Reserve.

This is a beautiful park, with a beautiful well maintained beach. The campground is also very well maintained and managed. It is easily a 5 Star park for a day trip. If you dont mind the soothing sounds of constant traffic on nearby streets, the only wildlife you see being shirtless men, and camping in close quarters with an enormous amount of people who all try their hardest to pretend youre not actually 10 feet away from them then the campground is a nice place too. A similar experience can be had in most suburban back yards, though in that case maybe your neighbors will talk to you. If youre really just looking for a place to sleep in your tent or camper where you can just spend the whole day at the beach, this place might be for you. If youre looking for a camping experience to "get away from the busyness of everyday life and spend some time with nature", keep looking. I might recommend Lake Maria State Park, not much further down the road, for such an experience.

The park is misleading about dogs. Trails are listed as being pet friendly for dogs on leashes, but the catch is that the DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED OFF THE TRAILS. PERIOD. So if want to take a break in your walk for a minute, sorry, you cant step off the trail with your dog, or sit at a bench with your dog, nor can you stop on the trail with your dog. The officer enforcing this was polite enough, but the policy is a bit ridiculous. Dogs are allowed in the campgrounds, but not on unpaved trails between them. The park and beach were nice overall. The dog thing was misleading though.

Its a slice of heaven away from the city! But you dont have to spend a fortune to stay, everythings there it is VERY CLEAN AND THE STAFF WATCHES THINGS GOOD SO THERES NO PROBLEMS!!! Weve tent camped-really nice spaces! And then like two years ago we rented a cabin-BEAUTIFUL AND CHEAP! Swimming, fishing, boating, huge wonderful playground, wonderful trails, big sandy beach, super clean and large updated bathrooms, showers and dish washing station! And its just simply BEAUTIFUL and relaxing! GO GO GO! Youll love it! Really!

Really fun camping experience. As to be expected with any urban camping the campsites are pretty close together. Which can be a problem, depending on circumstances but was not a problem for us. Great access to beach, playground, clean facilities, showers, bathrooms etc. Water is clear and clean, beach is nice and not crowded, overall was a great experience.

Awesome! The campsites are spacious, and the restrooms are clean. The bike trails and playground really make it. We did the lake loop several times while there, and it was manageable even for the younger kids. Keep an eye on your little ones though so the mosquitoes dont carry them off! Theyre huge, but I understand thats just the way it is in Minnesota.

Beautiful park, I have been coming here since I was a kid and have enjoyed bringing other kids to play on the newer playground and dip their toes in the swimming area. There is also enough trail for adults to walk or bike in relative solitude. Three Rivers takes great care of their park.

Stayed for a couple of nights in my camper. Was unlucky that it rained for two days before I got there, so there was standing water all over the place. It dried out over the course of the next two days. Kids loved it with the playground and biking around all over the place.

There is a big park for kids, beach access, and a pretty bike path all right at the campground. At the campground the spaces are large and clean, the grass is nice, and they were generous with wood. There are a couple bike paths nearby as well.

Beautiful park with two very nice beaches. They have rolling hills with many picnic areas around the lake. Very nice campground and a large playground area with a couple of zip lines.

Great place to take a walk or go for a bike ride. They have a 6.2 mile loop thats very nice all times of the year when theres no snow on the ground...so, like, 7 months of the year
